Bought this projector 3 years ago. Still on the same bulb, had to replace cooling fan. Great overall 12/2/2018 1:03:08 PM

Pros: Extremely bright and vivid picture, with a very good frame rate and response time for playing video games.
Bulb life is excellent. Haven't had to replace it yet, even after 3 years of use.

Cons: Internal cooling fan on the front of the unit died, but I was able to order a replacement part by looking up the model number on the fan. Part was relatively easy to replace, with no soldering required.

Overall Review: For the price that I paid for this projector, I have been very satisfied with it overall. Keep in mind that I didn't use this nonstop on a daily basis. I used it for a few hours per day and tried to mainly use it for "movie nights" and whenever I had company over. Now that 4k projectors are starting to become more affordable, I can't really recommend getting this projector, unless you can get it for a substantial discount.

Very bright and very clear picture 12/11/2017 9:01:25 AM

Pros: Had this for about a year and it still gives us a great picture.
No issues at all, and we've ran it quite a bit.

Cons: The speaker isn't as stellar but its not meant to be a stand alone.
Also the audio ports are lacking.

Overall Review: I would definitely order the same one if this one breaks in a few years. Its been really great.

Excellent projector if you ignore the amount of heat it generates 12/10/2016 9:58:38 AM

Pros: 1) Theater like image quality with fantastic colors using the 6 color wheel on it.
2) I have seen movies in complete dark as well as with ambient light using this projector and the experience of watching a 170+ inch screen was amazing.
3) Audio on the projector is also decent
4) Horizontal and Vertical Keystone correction is nice to have for smaller rooms
5) Short throw with 1.3 zoom ring which comes handy
6) Vertical Lens shift comes handy for vertical picture adjustment without any distortion or need for keystone correction.
7) 2200 Lumens of brightness is amazing to watch anything in any light condition
8) Also the projector overall is light as compared to the newer models to carry which could make it portable
9) Good for presentations and office purpose as well
10) Not much of brightness loss with economy and smarteco mode which saves bulb life
11) 3D feature is excellent as well
12) Several advanced image quality adjustment features available so that you can modify it to your taste

Cons: 1) The unit generates lot of heat and if you keep the projector close to you while watching movies you will feel the heat from the unit. Also if you touch the front side its unbearable hot surface. Best is to mount it to the ceiling.
2) Image source zoom function is not present which a low priced Benq MH530 had. If you are watching something on a computer browser which is not in full screen mode you can eliminate the unwanted screen using zoom.
3) Horizontal and vertical keystone reduces the image size and tries to blacken the irregularities. Would recommend to use only lens shift and not use the software keystone correction
4) Wish the lens could be shift 5-10% more than what it comes with
5) Wall color correction feature is not present which is available in the newer models. Benq should provide updated firmware or something to have the same features as newer models as this unit has everything required to display fantastic picture.

Overall Review: Recently this projector was for $620 or less at Newegg which is a fantastic price knowing that it supports horizontal and vertical keystone which is not present in the latest model in same price range. I returned this project and bought newer model HT2050 only because of the excessive heat generated from this unit. If you get this at a good deal do not hesitate to buy it as its a fantastic unit and your movie watching experience will definitely get elevated to theater level.

I initially would Recommend BUT Issues have come up 12/9/2016 3:19:50 PM

Pros: This was my first foray into the projector world. After reading a lot of reviews about great budget performance projectors, BenQ's name would always be mentioned. This is a great projector when it works. Like the other reviews, the projector gives -
-great picture
-1080p
-3D
-built in speakers(used more than I initially thought. They are fairly decent)

Cons: -The projector has started automatically shutting down after 15- 30 minutes of use (sometimes even less) and display the temp error code. I sent the unit to be fixed/RMA'd.

The process to get the unit RMA's was fairly a simple (Go to their support site where you would create a ticket and input the problem/description)
Most replies would be made on the following day which increases the RMA process.

I received a unit back in the original box I had sent them. However the paperwork contents of the box in terms of serial # and RMA# case # were different from the one I was assigned from their trouble ticket process. I'm still confused as to what unit they sent me (Was it my unit or some other unit that was sent in for failure?)

I am sure I will have to wait an additional business day to receive a response aaand oh yeahhh its a Friday!

And for those of you that don't know, you don't deal with BenQ directly, you ship stuff to approved BenQ dealers.

Overall Review: Awaiting response back from their dealers customer service about my issues with tracking of repairs done, and resolving which unit if the proper unit was received.

Was working good 1/23/2016 7:45:04 PM

Pros: Great projector in my opinion. Have it on a 150" screen and it looks great. It took awhile to get used to playing games on it but that is a personal preference since it is nothing normal in size.

Cons: Just recently started having some temperature errors with the projector. I will be getting in touch with customer support during working hours on a fix or RMA.

Overall Review: Projector has been working great until recently. Now it automatically shuts down randomly and gives me a TEMP error. Sometimes this is only after running it for only 15 minutes and it doesn't really feel hot. I will post back after the customer service experience since I was unable to find much information about this error.

Hard to Beat on a Budget 10/9/2015 4:13:18 PM

Pros: Fantastic for my small home theater on a budget

-Great Value overall
-Fast clear picture
- Great picture quality
-1080P
-3D
-120mhz
- Built in speaker is decent
- Bright enough for my 100 inch screen

Cons: - Throw is shorter than expected
- DLP rainbows do appear from time to time mostly on white text with dark backgrounds
- Blacks and dark grey's are a bit faded but acceptable for this price range.

Overall Review: Using with BenQ ceiling mount.
Screen: 100 inch Elite screens Vmax 2

amazing projector, this is the must have 9/13/2015 12:01:58 AM

Pros: I've had this thing for a while now, it's unbelievable. I have it hooked up to my pc for gaming and movies when people come over, even with one light on in the room the picture is very vivid. I have it up I think at around 102". people that come over are amazed every time at the size and clarity and tell me they're going to get one

Cons: lamp gets pretty hot, and make sure you figure out how to clean the inside easily as do all projectors

Great Projector - VERY SHORT THROW! 5/4/2015 11:01:13 PM

Pros: After a ton of research, this projector lives up to its laurels - accurate out-of-the-box color, bright picture, great contrast ratio, hardly noticeable rainbows, relatively quiet operation. Lots of features. I like it.

Cons: Man, the throw distance on this thing is such that in 11 feet I can't make it fit the 66" diagonal wall space I have. Right now it's sitting in the middle of the room whereas my old projector could sit in the back and zoom down to a reasonable size. If you have a space that's a larger room, you're going to need to ceiling mount this thing closer. Be ready for that.

My only other gripe is that it only has a 1/8" phono stereo out for the HDMI in; not an ideal audio routing device.

Also the return policy is pretty shabby.

Overall Review: After having it for a while, I'm glad I have it, I just have to reconfigure the entire room to accommodate it.
