Onboard chipset fan too tall 9/21/2020 10:19:27 PM

Pros: The motherboard looked cool. I didn't power it on though, but I assume it works as intended.

Cons: The biggest con for me is that the onboard chipset fan on mine was too tall. I have a gigabyte 1070 gpu, and it would not fit in the primary PCI slot. The chipset fan wouldn't allow it. I tried the secondary PCI 4.0 slot just to see, and it barely fit in there. However, the GPU board was still touching the chipset fan housing. Thankfully I still have my mATX motherboard from before (I was switching motherboards) so I still have a working pc.

Overall Review: The board looks cool and the specs are nice, but it was a big disappoint for me in the end. Primarily because of the chipset fan housing being too tall.

I can't fault the board too much for that so I'm giving it 3/5 eggs. I'm sure if I had a little clearance I would be fine with it, but its not worth the hassle for me at this time.

Used for little over a month. Works as intended. 9/19/2020 5:23:59 PM

Pros: - Newegg had delivered this product within a week of purchasing and there were no visible damages on the product.
- I have used the product for over a month with varying usage (games to office work) and it seems to be working as expected.

Cons: - There isn't any USB-C slots in the I/O ports which is unfortunate but it doesn't hinder my usage.
- Uses Realtek LAN which has relatively slower data transfer speeds when compared to motherboards with Intel LAN.

Overall Review: - I would highly recommend this motherboard as this is a nice entry level x570 motherboard when you take price (CAD255) and quality of construction into consideration as well as the potential for upgrades (usage of pcie 4.0) in the 3-5 year range.

Works great for my PC Build. 9/18/2020 11:18:58 PM

Pros: Looks like a solid board so far.

Cons: I didn't like that graphics card (RTX 2060) totally obfuscated the little onboard fan and was siting on top of the NVMe drive. So I moved the graphics card on the other possible location, both problems solved.

Overall Review: Yeah I would recommend this to a friend.
So far I have no complaints, but I'm not a PC gamer and don't give a hoot about overclocking anything - it is paired with Ryzen 3900x and I have more than enough cores to process and run window VMs inside windows . Mostly interested in LightRoom, FreeCad etc... they all work well. Love the control I have over fan speeds (maybe all motherboards do this at this point, I don't know). The overall PC runs quitter than my old laptop - thanks to a good 850W- watt power supply. The biggest challenge I had was configuring the memory (CORSAIR RMx White Series RM850x ). Took me a while to learn how the new memory is configured properly with the mother board, had to do some online digging. And it wasn't until I sorted that out the system became stable (OS was not even installed).

Manufacturer Response:
Dear hardware warrior 69,

It's regrettable to hear you've encountered storage issues with your motherboard. Please provide us your full specification. In certain configurations, it can disable certain SATA slots. You can try clearing your CMOS by removing the disk-like battery while your system is unplugged from its power source. If possible, give me a detailed description of any specifics in regard to your situation so we can collaborate towards a resolution. You can reach me at cl-adrian@asus.com. Your case for reference is N200964155.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Best Regards,
Adrian

Nothing but problems. I would NOT recommend this board 9/16/2020 1:03:33 PM

Pros: This board offers a nice set of features, but I've had nothing but problems with this board for the first 6 months of ownership. First, my Ryzen speeds were not boosting at all. Then, when they did boost, and the fan would get stuck at 100% speed. I contacted customer support and spent hours troubleshooting various fixes. I was asked to fill out a long form, and each time I contacted customer support, I needed to provide my details again (such as the Model No. and Serial No. of the board, as well as describe some of the steps that I had already taken and submitted on the form). Eventually, I followed a manual BIOS update that was recommended by customer support (the BIOS had already been updated through ASUS's software). This DID fix that first problem.

Next, I had a problem where the PC wouldn't start. The LED troubleshooting lights would cycle between all lights. Customer support offered me a simple tip to clear the CMOS RTC RAM, this worked.

In between, I have had countless issues with the bandwidth of my Occulus RIFT. I have three sensors, and plenty of USB 3 slots on the MOBO. I had to purchase a PCI-E expansion slot to enable the whole setup to work (I mainly upgraded my PC due to VR) so this was frustrating.

Finally, in September, the PC failed to start again. The MOBO showed an LED error message for the RAM. After removing one of the RAMs, and experimenting with the slots, it turns out the one of the DIMM slots on the MOBO is dead and won't allow the computer to start if RAM is inserted there. The RAM is fine. When I contacted ASUS, they offered an RMA repair, but I have to send in my motherboard and won't have it for 7-10 days. I can't afford this option since I work from home.

Being that I built this computer to work from home, and it has given me nothing but trouble, I would not recommend this board. Other than the sensor issue with the Occulus, the board seems to function fine. However, it has turned up issue after issue, and working with ASUS customer support has not been helpful. As an 18 year system builder, I had an intuition that the board needed to be RMAd after one month. However, ASUS provided painstaking troubleshooting via online chat, that only ever provided temporary fixes. I have wasted countless hours troubleshooting this motherboard—more than any system I've built. For all of these reasons, I would NOT recommend this board.

Cons: - Plenty of USB ports
- Easy to use BIOS with simple Windows software to help keep your board up-to-date
- Runs cool when I didn't have issues with it

Overall Review: - Bandwidth does not support a 3 sensor setup for something like an Oculus rift
- Features on board error system that uses LED color lights, instead of a digital number system
- Board continually wouldn't allow the CPU to boost correctly without a manual reinstall of the BIOS
- Customer support was tedious and wouldn't offer an RMA early on before this became a bigger issue

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Valued Customer,

I'm sorry to hear that you have had various software and hardware issues with this board. This is certainly not the kind of experience that we want any of our customers to have. Can you please send me the serial number of your board, and the case numbers from your interactions with Support? I'd like to investigate for quality control. I understand that you have decided not to proceed with an RMA, but your unit has a 36 month warranty and I'd be happy to create one for you in the future. Please reach out to me at cl-lane@asus.com and include case #N200956463 in your email for reference.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Great MB 9/15/2020 4:41:46 PM

Pros: It's got a fast boot time when paired with Corsair MP600 m.2 SSD
24hr burn in test / No Errors

Cons: Everyone has to remember to fist update the BIOS, then disable the network controller in the BIOS to get windows 12 to load without error.

Overall Review: EXCELLENT MB
