ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AM3 DDR3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: This board is rock solid and it comes with all the features that one would expect for a high-end board from ASUS. The connectors are all in great, logical locations, the cooling works real well and my 8800 GTS blocks zero connectors, unlike in my last ASUS board. One great pro is that this board comes with quick connectors for the front panel conectors and the front USB connector. Basically you plug these into a clip, and then the clip plugs into the MB so that all those individual wires stay where they should be if you need to dissconnect them. I used this to try a new install of Windows 7 Beta on a RAID 0 array and it worked like a charm using the included RAID drivers on CD. Installing the Phenom II 720 X3 was a breeze and so far it's running stable and cool. I also installed 2GB of DDR3 1333 (Corsair XMS TWIN3X2048-1333C9, which is on the QVL) and have had no problems after running Memtest 86 through 6 tests. 4 PCIe run up to 2@x16, 4@x8, 2@x16 and 2@x4

Cons: Instructions are a little unclear on how best to install DDR3. I can't quite tell if the DIMM's are supposed to both go in the orange slots or one in the orange and one in the black in order to run dual channel. Hopefully a reviewer can fill in the details later for me. I have them both in the orange slots as I think that's what the instructions say (channels A1 and B1), but my last build was DDR400 so I may be a little confused on this. If someone could clarify I would appreciate it, otherwise absolutly no CONS yet, just wish they offered a wireless version.

Overall Review: ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AMD AM3 Phenom II 720 black edition (running stock speed/stock cooler) 2x1GB Corsair DDR3 1333 (get it now, 1/2 price w/ rebate and on QVL makes DDR3 expensive argument moot) eVGA NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320MBoc 2x WD 320GB SATA3.0 in RAID 0 1x WD 250GB SATA1.5 1x Maxtor 160GB SATA3.0 LITE-ON 16x DVD-RW/+RWDL LG 24x DVD-ROM AeroCool AeroEngine Case w/ 1 120mm(front) and 1 80mm intake (side) and 1 120mm and 1 80mm exhaust in rear and PSU. Runs AM3 only, and DDR3 only. I have not OC'd at this point, but I will in the next couple weeks and I'll leave another review then, especially after I stress test. This was a review mostly to just get an owner review on this product. It is so far running Windows 7 and setting up RAID 0 was easier than I thought it would be. Bios is logical, and has good explanation in the included manual, haven't yet used express gate but it promises to boot me to a linux desktop in 10 seconds, we'll see. BTW, windows 7 beta is awesome!!!

Pros: If you enjoy flipping a coin to determine if you'll get one of the boards that actually recognize a 955BE cpu, this is the board for you!

Cons: Just like roughly half the people who have bought this motherboard, mine won't POST or recognize the 955BE chip because it has an ancient BIOS version. The only way to fix is to get a new chip from the manufacturer, who will charge you for the chip and shipping so look forward to the possibility of going through hassle and paying an extra $50 for the privilege.

Overall Review: Newegg support was completely lost on this concept, even after walking the tech guy through the 67 negative feedbacks listed for this item.

Pros: Just following up my previous review. I used the built in Q-button OC feature (push power button to load OC profile, again to turn off) and it works great. I have my Phenom II 720 overclocked 20% and I didn't even have to tweak anything. Loaded up the Rocket profile in TurboV (Asus windows app) and it overclocks on the fly. Also includes precise tweakers for OCing, but 3.4 GHz on stock cooling is good enough for me. I burned it in with P95, no errors, and it maxes out at 64C, idles 42C (vice stock of idle 38C and max 48C). I also can't change the temp of the board, which always hovers around 37-39C, so it has a very effective cooling system. so long as your board has airflow. No plans to OC further, my wife is already scolding me for 20%. I highly reccommend this board and I'm always happy with ASUS's quality (this is my 4th board in 3 years).

Cons: Couldn't get the ASUS EPU to work right, it would only increase CPU without increasing voltage to CPU, wheras the ASUS Turbo V worked on it's own by bumping up the CPU speed and the CPU voltage. Not sure if this is a real problem, or the fact that I'm running them in Windows 7 Beta (which obviously carries no support from either Redmond or ASUS), and since the Turbo V OC worked with the Q button, I'm happy as a clam.

Overall Review: Please don't leave a review to complain about specs, or other vendors' availability or why you're waiting...please just keep reviews to how the product works and clarification of specs so that the egg rating is neither inflated nor deflated.

Pros: Fast!!

Cons: If you have a powersupply that is at the bottom of the case READ THIS. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIT 4 GRAPHICS CARDS IN CROSSFIRE IN THIS!! I have two graphics cards right now in crossfire (5670's) and the 2nd one takes up both slots with its heatsink and it even makes it hard to plug in the audio ports on my ASUS M4A79T Motherboard. There would be no way in hell you can get 4 in, but you would be able to get 3x in no problem.

Overall Review: I do not understand why people keep saying that their system is not posting with the X6 processor on this motherboard. Did you remove the cover on the 2nd set of 12volt to the motherboard? You're suppost to use both of the 12v slots for this processor instead of just one. I just got the motherboard today and it posted and booted just fine right out of the box..

Pros: Worked out of the box with Phenom II x4 955 BE, came with bios 902, updated to latest for obvious compatibility randomness.

Cons: mine came with a seemingly rusted capacitor on it, which is no biggy, just a factory defect, still runs fine.

Overall Review: be sure to use the AMD overdrive "Black Edition Memory Profile" which will autoset your timings, saves a good 5 minutes in the bios and works fine in 2 clicks and a quick restart of the system.

Pros: Overclocks like a Dream, Asus utilities are very efficient and easy to use, very easy to update the Bios, works flawlessly with DDR3 Memory.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Make sure you only use the orange dimms for overclocked ram.

Pros: Resonably priced in my opinion. Flawless installation. Came with 2 CrossFire connectors. Haven't tried the eGate feature, but seems like it should be cool. Has Power and reset Buttons on MB.

Cons: The PCI-E slots are too close together to fit 4 double thick Graphics cards. I was going to take away an egg for this but then I got to thinking. If you were upgrading from an AM2 system with two decent single cards, it would probably be cheaper to just buy two more and call it good with your new system. And for those who were keeping up with the jones', would just buy two DX 11 cards and call it goodbecause there really isn't any reason to run more than two of the new cards.

Overall Review: I am running 2 XFX Radeon HD 4770 512mb cards. They fit ok and I can still use my PCI slot in between them for the USB/Firewire Add-on that comes with the motherboard. But the 2nd video card is very close to te bottom of the case. I haven't done my research so don't chastize me, but I would like to see this very same board for a full tower creating enough space between the PCI-E slots to fit 4 of the newer cards that take up 2 slots with the fan. Pros: Solid construction, nice copper headsinks for northbridge, etc. Works with fast ram, overclocked my Phenom II 720 to 3.6Ghz without a hitch.

Cons: Having to manually set DDR3 RAM to run at advertised speed (1600Mhz) is a bit unnecessary. I knew when I bought it that 1600Mhz is an "OC" voltage, but if it's supported, why not have it run that way at stock? Oh well, I suppose it's one way to keep the non-overclockers away from this board....?
