AMD64 dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology, two complete processor cores on a single die run at the same frequency to deliver exceptional multi-tasking power, allowing users to surge through the most demanding processing loads, including advanced multitasking, critical business productivity, complicated visual design and modeling, serious gaming, and visually stunning digital media and entertainment.
Integrated DDR2 and DDR3 DRAM Memory Controller The AMD Athlon II X2 240 Dual-Core processor is integrated with DDR2 and DDR3 DRAM memory controller capable of supporting unregistered DRAM. The integrated memory controller changes the way the processor accesses main memory, resulting in increased bandwidth, reduced memory latencies, and enhanced processor performance.
HyperTransport 3.0 Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT 3.0 technology the AMD Athlon II X2 240 processor enjoys 4000MHz system bus speeds.
AMD Cool'n'Quiet 3.0 Technology AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 3.0 technology is an innovative solution available on AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems that can effectively lower power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance-on-demand.
Enhanced Virus Protection All AMD processors equipped with AMD64 technology are Enhanced Virus Protection-enabled. Enhanced virus protection acts as a preventative measure causing viruses to be localized, short-lived, and non-contagious, eventually being flushed from system memory.
Pros: cheap, effective, and long lasting
Cons: not a highend cpu?
Overall Review: used in 2 builds, one for my girlfriend and one for my sister, both runnin strong 2 years later!
Pros: Underclocked it to 2.6 GHz and was able to undervolt it to 1.04 volts (stock is 1.425) for a HTPC. Power consumption when under load (Intel burn test) dropped 37 watts.
Cons: Temperature sensors are wrong--they read below ambient at idle. The temps reported by the motherboard seem more realistic.
Overall Review: I barely need the CPU fan to run but I keep it set at a constant 40% so that it keeps nearby components cool.
Pros: Worked perfect for a budget build.
Cons: None.
Pros: Dual Cores, cheap price, good speed for a budget computer
Cons: None
Overall Review: Bought this CPU for my sister's build. She really likes it. She uses it for basic stuff such as internet, photo uploads to facebook, and music storage. Great all around CPU for such things.
Pros: I just finished building my computer today. I already can tell that this CPU is worlds better than the Pentium D 3.4ghz, and scoffs at the Core Duo. I haven't even overclocked it and I don't know if I ever will. Whats the use if it does the job as is?
Cons: It isn't cheap enough ( bless my sarcasm ) .
Overall Review:
I plan on upgrading away from this processor someday, but as of now this thing is rocking my world combined with my Radeon HD 5670 1GB DDR5.
I only have 2GB of DDR3 @ 1333mhz running on windows 7 64-bit. So far... smooooooooth sailin.
Pros:
Great CPU for a budget PC. No problems so far.
Build:
BIOSTAR A780L3L AM3
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz
Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 KVR1066D3K2/2GR

Pros: These CPUs are awesome, since they came out they have processed everything thrown at them. Very fast and reliable.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Of coarse now a days there are Quad Core and even Eight core CPUs. But these AMD dual cores are great processors for home or office use.
