Great with Intel® Optane™ Technology

When paired with the latest processors, Intel® Optane™ technology sets a new precedent for high-performance desktops and workstations.

Intel technologies’ features and benefits depend on system configuration and may require enabled hardware, software or service activation. Performance varies depending on system configuration. No computer system can be absolutely secure. Check with your system manufacturer or retailer or learn more at the Intel offical website.

The benchmark results reported above may need to be revised as additional testing is conducted. The results depend on the specific platform configurations and workloads utilized in the testing, and may not be applicable to any particular user’s components, computer system or workloads. The results are not necessarily representative of other benchmarks and other benchmark results may show greater or lesser impact from mitigations. Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors. Performance tests, such as SYSmark and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products. For more complete information about performance and benchmark results, visit the Intel offical website.

Benchmark results were obtained prior to implementation of recent software patches and firmware updates intended to address exploits referred to as "Spectre" and "Meltdown". Implementation of these updates may make these results inapplicable to your device or system.

1 Altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components, and may reduce system stability and performance. Product warranties may not apply if the processor is operated beyond its specifications. Check with the manufacturers of system and components for additional details.

Best CPU I've ever had

Pros: Fast, reliable, does everything it should.

Cons: A bit expensive and wasn't used to the install process but it went perfectly.

Other Thoughts: I'm used to processors having pins, so this was a little different for me. However, the install went without a hitch and it is a good upgrade fro my FX 8350.

8700K @ 15months

Pros: Very nice single & multi thread performance.
3 year warranty.

Cons: More expensive than they should be/have been considering there was higher performing chips coming soon after for near to the same price.

Other Thoughts: Has been a great gaming chip. Paired with a 1080Ti it keeps all the newest & most demanding games ~85-120FPS with their highest possible settings @ 1440p.

Have never had a problem with temperatures. I'm guessing most of these reviewers just don't know how to handle installing their own aftermarket cooling and setting up decent case airflow.
I started with an old Thermaltake Water 3.0 with Cryorig QF120 Performance fans @ 4.8GHz and never passed 64°C with very demanding games or with any type of processing. It idled ~35°C.
Eventually upgraded to an EVGA CLC 280 with Be Quiet! Silent Wings 3 fans and bumped the clocks up to 5GHz. Now maxes @ ~58°C while most games stay <55°C.
This is with it residing in a Be Quiet! Dark Base 700 case that has very limited airflow due to it's sound dampening design. Stays almost totally silent 100% of the time.

Great processor for gaming

Pros: It's fast and Intel platform is better for gaming than AMD. I pick this over the 9700k because of price and hyperthreading is disable on the 9700k. I do use Adobe suite and compression software so I do need hyperthreading of the 8700k.

Cons: Price has not come down at all since release and as of writing. Intel seem to have a problem with supply. AMD Ryzen/Threadripper is looking better by the day with price/performance. Unfortunately, 8th gen i7 and below still suffer from the Spectre meltdown exploit. If you patch that exploit with an update, you CPU "will" decreased in performance.

Other Thoughts: I'm no fanboy of any company, I just buy what's better and sometime what look good (guilty). I'm going from i7 3930k to this temporarily CPU and planing to upgrade by the end of the year to 9900K/9900KF. I hope the price of the 9th gen come down by then, but I have doubt.

EWorks as expected

Pros: High end CPU works as expected. Lots of cores and very peppy.

Cons: None so far. I've built dozens of PCs over the decades and use Intel CPUs exclusively. I've never had a problem.

Awesome CPU, couldn't ask for more!

Pros: This CPU is the best I've ever owned and I have had a lot of PC's in the past. This processor is lighting fast, awesome gaming experience, fast multi-tasking, video editing and everything! I've owned a i7-7700HQ, AMD FX-6300, i3-3220, and a Ryzen 7 1700. This CPU passes everything I've owned in the past with lighting speeds.

Cons: The only bad part about this CPU is the TIM that Intel used for these CPUs, which can cause the CPU to run hot even when using an AIO.

Other Thoughts: I must say, when I first got my CPU not even a couple days ago I wasn't going to overclock it but I decided to. I also own the ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate and in the bios, I set the multiplier to 5.0 Ghz and left everything else on auto. My Vcore hasn't gone to anything high and the highest it has been when running AIDA64 stress-test was 1.238 V with temps reaching 83c.

Fast, Reliable CPU

Pros: - Runs perfectly
- Easy to install
- Very fast for most processing tasks

Cons: - Purely comparing stats, it is not the cheapest option in terms of processing speed or number of cores

Other Thoughts: Make sure to get a good cooling solution; it is a 95W processor.

i7 8700k -- The second try was a charm.

Pros: The second one that I received seems to be functional. (I've used it for about a about a month without any problems, at this point).
Newegg was very helpful and quick in the RMA process and Intel didn't cause any trouble either. They made this as painless as it could have been, and I *REALLY* appreciate that!

Cons: The first one was DoA, kind of. It was worse than that, actually. It was causing completely random crashes. The longest I had the computer run without a blue screen was 2.5 days or so. The shortest interval was quicker than I could boot into Windows 10 on an M.2 NVME SSD. I tried different drivers, windows (and Linux) installations, RAM tests @ varying speeds, using different RAM slots and only one RAM stick at a time, re-seating the CPU repeatedly, and everything in between. I finally realized that the problem was the CPU after replacing a motherboard and seeing the integrated GPU *still* not working. (I had initially blamed on the motherboard that I was using.) This is the first defective CPU I've ever had from anywhere (I've used AMD/Intel pretty evenly in the past.) I imagine this is probably an extremely rare problem for one to have.

This process wouldn't have been so rough, if not for the fact that I didn't have nor know anyone who did have parts that they could swap with me to see if it were the board/cpu/ram...etc.

Cons of the functional CPU:
-This CPU runs very HOT compared to the CPU that I was using previously, under similar loads.
-It doesn't come with a fan. (I've always purchased after-market cooling, anyway.)

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a system with a Lynnfield i7 from about 8-9 years ago, I notice minimal difference in speed, other than the additional threads (from 4 core 8 threads @ 2.97 GHz to 6 core 12 threads @ 4.7Ghz Turbo (&lows of <1GHz while idle)), which are a great boon with the way that modern browsers work with multiple processes (Chrome) and with many asynchronous threads, in general. I also notice some speed ups in applications like 7zip, which fully utilizes all 12 threads.

If this CPU lasts me for as long as that Lynnfield CPU lasted me, I'll have no complaints with this purchase.
Again, I'll reiterate that I presume that the first defective unit was an outlier, and haven't changed my opinion of Intel's level of quality control, just yet; and that I reaffirm my faith in their and Newegg's customer service and acceptance of responsibility when something goes awry.
