Valor Fitness Slam Balls add a bit of cardio to your strength workout while releasing stress or an excess amount of energy. Take the ball with both hands like you would grip a basket ball, raise it above your head and slam it to the ground. Hence the name "Slam Ball". Enjoy your energy releasing workout. These balls will not bounce. The Workout: Overhead Heel Slams: Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart and hold the ball above and slightly behind your head. Slam the ball as hard as you can close to your heel. Squat to pick up the ball, then repeat on the opposite side (like this, only slam it down outside of your heels). Repeat for 30 seconds. It's important to not drop the ball. Slam it as hard as you can. Weighted Squats: Pivot back and squat while holding slam ball. Step forward and pivot back to face the opposite direction and squat again. Repeat until 30 seconds are up. Squat Press: Standing with legs shoulder-width apart, complete a squat while holding slam ball. Once you are standing upright again, thrust the slam ball over your head for an overhead press. Do as many reps as possible in 30 seconds. The "Other" Russian Twist: Sitting down, put the slam ball to the left of your feet. Balancing on your butt and using your core, pull your legs to the left over the ball. Repeat, pulling legs back and forth over the ball. For added difficulty, pull your arms over your torso in the opposite direction as your legs. Twist for 30 seconds. Reverse Sit-Ups: Lay on your back holding slam ball above your head. Keeping your legs straight, pull them up toward the ceiling and return them to the floor. Repeat as many reps as you can for 30 seconds. Soccer Throw: This exercise mimics a typical throw that a soccer goalie would do. The power of the throw comes from your legs and hips which channel energy to your shoulder and arms. You can throw against a sturdy wall or with a workout partner. Raise the slam ball above your head and bend your elbows to prepare to throw it. Take two strides forward, and on the second stride, throw the ball as hard as you can. Brace your spine and abdominal muscles to maintain your posture. Do not bend your back as you throw. With each set, you can start the stride with the left or right leg. Ground Slams: The ground slam is similar in function as the soccer throw, but you throw the ball in front of you vertically to the ground instead of at an angle. Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart and hold the ball above and slightly behind your head. Without bending your back, throw the ball in front of you so that you can catch it without moving your feet when it bounces back up. You can also do this exercise by turning to your left or right side and throw, alternating both sides. Sledgehammer: With a slam ball sling, this exercise develops power, momentum, and core stability throughout your body as you swing the sling like a sledgehammer or axe. Hold at the ends of the rope with both hands with the ball dangling over your left shoulder. Brace your trunk and sling the ball over your shoulder to strike on the ground in front of you. You may bend your knees and hips to absorb the impact. Repeat the movement as quickly as you can on both sides. Chop Throw: The chop throw trains stability and strength in your abdominals without relying on your hips for movement and strength production. One side of your core may be weaker and less balanced than the other. Kneel with your right leg in front of you with your hips and legs bent at 90 degrees. Hold the slam ball over your right shoulder and throw it at the ground to your left with minimal movement in your torso. Keep your torso upright the entire time. Do both sides of your body to complete one set.
