AVOID
Pros: The card is great when it works.
Cons: Fan died on me, as many others have mentioned earlier.
Other Thoughts: I'm bypassing the RMA process as I can't be without a machine for an extended period of time, and from what I've read on the web, Asus hasn't fixed this issue, so even RMA'ed cards die after the same amount of time. I've ordered an Arctic Cooler Acelero S1 Rev2 to provide cooling. That way, I don't have to bother with the problems of Asus support, etc. Again, avoid this card. Asus really should issue a recall.

3 month review - Good Results
Pros: Think I got lucky with a good card. It's been running fine for 3 months plus without any issues. Plays Crysis and Fallout 3 with High detail and good framerates. Used ATiTool to overclock it safely from 750/900 to 800/950 while never exceeding 58C (in a Tempest case with good cooling).
Cons: No rebate yet.
Other Thoughts: For those with problems, check the fan header connection on the pcb. Also might want to try to reseat the card. If your power supply doesn't have 500w or more (quality name brand), it may be able to run this card effectively. No cheapo power supplies need apply. This card is also shorter than the standard referenced cards, a plus for those with smaller cases. Still jamming well.

Forgot About Overclocking Her Stock
Pros: She's fast. Plays Crysis on Full Mode.
Relatively Inexpensive.
Cons: The software can set her another 100 Mhz fasterbut she'll freeze.
Not as pretty as other versions. The section around the bottom of the case where she is gets hot.
Other Thoughts: Spend the extra $40 and get the DK version with full cooling unless you're going to remove the fan and watercool it. I compared all the versions using the New Egg comparison tool, but I didn't check the pictures.. or I would have bought the DK.
No problems though.

Good Card For The $$$
Pros: Great quality on the graphics. No problems like others have reported. Card stays super cool. 40c idle 60 maxed out on Crysis. I bought it for under 200, cant beat that.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I am impressed. Thats good enough for me.

ASUS is in the Details, or are they?
Pros: Great Video card for the money. Crossfire ready is great with my new i7 setup. I haven't utilized it yet, but the option is nice for future upgrades.
Cons: I cannot get 2 DVI inputs into the card at the same time. The plugs are too close together. Rather frustrating. Trying to find slimmer cables, but haven't found anything yet.
Come on ASUS, you can do better than that!!!!

Absolutey! A nogo
Pros: This card ran great till it overheated because the fan was broken.
Cons: Fan was dead.
Other Thoughts: I bought the item as an open box item so if you buy it new you chances may be better but judging from reviews not much. If your even considering buying the open box item stay away from it as you are just buying another person's returned defective equipment. Don't take it for granted that newegg is a credible source because they will not work with you in anyway.

2nd one on its way out
Pros: Great card, plays all games on max settings when the fan works.
Cons: Fan circuitry is really poor. My first card lasted 3 weeks then fan failed. Did RMA through Asus and they sent me a brand new one. That itself would have been great if it had lasted, but after about a month this card is showing signs of another fan failure. While just internet browsing you can hear the fan on the card constantly revving up and down then stopping totally causing a reboot. Am going to power the fan directly from the psu to make sure I don't fry the card or my motherboard. Shouldn't have to do this on a high end card and am seriously disappointed in Asus quality control
Other Thoughts: Don't know weather or not I will do another RMA, hate to be without my gaming rig for another 3 weeks or more waiting for another card from Asus

fast card, fan issue
Pros: This is a great card. It will chew up all the latest titles without a hitch. Turns regular desktop into decent gaming rig. ( with proper power supply upgrade ) I don't chase the enthusiast fps but enjoy good story to submerge into, detailed graphics adds to the immersion factor, so tweaking config files to get games to shine is not a chore but rather a fun way to put reality on pause. With this 4870 makes things easy.... it is more forgiving, and with minor customizations its easy to balance performance and quality.
Cons: Bad fan power circuit. Fan stopped working after a month of play. I must admit I manually increase fan speeds during gameplay to 80% and then set to 25% for idle. This cycling could have contributed to short life span, however i was aware of the potential fan failure.
Other Thoughts: I see this happening:
the card will continue to fall in price due to low reviews and customer apprehension of getting something that will likely fail, if manufacturer considers to continue with this line they should look into aftermarket vga cooler and bundle it with the card, take it a little further and leave off the stock cooler all together. there is a market for cards that are not elephant sized.

Pros: Great company, great price, card ran like a beauty while the fan lasted.
Cons: Fan died after just over a month of use. :(
Other Thoughts: hoping ASUS can help me out with a fix here so I dont have to replace the card.

was great, until it stopped working
Pros: Great card, ran everything I played without a hitch.
Cons: DEAD FAN. Like you see below, my fan fan went out too. Card was purchased on 9/24/08, was up and running with all the other components by 10/2/08, and is now dead at 12/22/08. Just in time for the holidays.
Other Thoughts: I really like Asus products. My last 4 systems including the one I just built has had an Asus motherboard in it. I have also bought an tv tuner card, and dvd burner a while back and they have all been great. With all that being said, STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD. Once again: DO NOT BUY THIS CARD I have to read the return policy now to see what my course of action will be. I just received my rebate in the mail two days ago, and I haven't deposited it yet. My system is: Intel Q6600. Asus P5Q Pro motherboard, Corsair 4gb 1066ddr2, asus my cinema PE9400 tv tuner card, ASUS EAH4870/HTDI/512M/A Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 (now defunct), Antec EA650 650W, LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA, Audigy 2 ZS, all with windows Vista.
