3 out of 5 eggsGreat oven, but poor quality

Pros: Fast, convenient, crisp everything so nicely! It's great while it lasts, probably one of the best things to exist.

Cons: I'm actually on my 3rd one. First one, heating element went out in 1 WEEK. You heard me, it didn't last for more than a week. 2nd replacement lasted 4 weeks. Heating element went out again. They are sending me a new one.

Other Thoughts: Had high hopes for this thing, I would actually pay more money to have a better quality oven. Come on Rosewill, get your act together! I'm giving up if the heating element goes out again, I'm just going to throw it away and take it as a lesson learned :(

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Heats up quickly, accurate timer and temperature gauges, Glass constructions-easy clean

Cons: Warms up your kitchen..:)

Other Thoughts: Treat it right, it'll last you a long time.
Ensure you cover foods if they will spatter close to the bulb - I use aluminum foil
Can do Pizzas, potatoes, veggies, roasts etc. Handy as a 2nd oven in kitchen when you have lots to bake.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Price, convenience, easy cleaning, fast baking/broiling, large space, emits little heat, easy to clean, performs as described

Cons: I have found none so far except the lack of instructions. The timings given are OK, but there's still a learning curve to figure out the correct timings. Since you can see the food, it's not too hard, but at first, I tended to over bake.

Other Thoughts: It's is easy to use and clean. I've baked chicken, meatballs, and fish fillets with no problem other than a tendency to over cook at first. There is no manual and only a few meager instructions, so you have to "eye-ball" and experiment to get the correct timings. It's not too difficult to manage. 390 - 400 degree F. setting is a good place to start. Then the only variable is the time. After watching the NuWave commercials, I'm very happy buying this product.

3 out of 5 eggsQC or shipping issues?

Pros: This oven will get hot and bake small things.
It is not excessively loud.
It heats quickly.
It is does not radiate massive amounts of heat, and will always shut off when you unlatch the handle to lift the lid, for greater safety.
Included racks cool very quickly, making juggling them when trying to switch between them much easier.
Timer done ding is clearly audible without being extremely annoying and repetitive.

Cons: Small size and unusual (for kitchen) shape is somewhat awkward to find bakeware for. This should NOT detract an egg, being simply a consequence of the form factor, but be something to consider when making your decision.

Manual says you can use top and bottom racks at once, but does NOT warn you would be well advised to rotate things between them during cooking; in my experience, the top rack will be well broiled long before the bottom rack is even up to temperature.

Oven requires you to turn on a timer to run; you can't just turn it on, wait for it to preheat, put your food in, then turn it off when done; you have to guess how long it will take to preheat. Knob is stiff and does not seem able to just be turned back to 0 when you're done cooking if you over-estimate. You CAN raise the handle and turn the temperature down to prevent it from continuing to cook, but then you'll still get the 'ding' at some later point.

Manual says to use the rack that gets your food closest to the light/element while leaving air clearance. This will result in broiling your food. Unless you are trying to broil your food, I recommend cooking almost everything on the shorter rack included.

These are all minor cons and I would at most detract 1 star for the manual issues. The second star is detracted for the fact my unit was not in perfect shape when I pulled it out of the box. Not listed as a con, because hopefully yours will be in better shape, right?

Other Thoughts: My oven came with the temperature knob detached, and the shaft that it is supposed to sit on depressed below where it would engage with the knob. Given the unit's size, return shipping for the defective oven would have been prohibitive compared to how little I paid for it. I was able to pull the shaft back up into position with needle-nose pliers, and superglue the knob on to it, and it now works perfectly.

One of my racks also came with bent wires in it, making it an uneven resting surface. While the knob may have come off in shipping, I'm not sure how central wires of the racks would have bent in shipping without deforming the outer diameter; I chalk THAT up to poor QC.

Still, I believe the oven is worth what I paid for it; I've taken it to work and set it up in our coffee area so I can reheat pizza in something slightly better than a microwave. I'm using cheap disposable pie plates as bakeware.

Read the manual, but be prepared to ignore some of its suggestions for best cooking. NOT the safety ones.

At the least, the massive glass base is worth the sale price of this oven as a potential oven-safe roasting pan or something. (Note that you could not put the lid in the oven with it!)

1 out of 5 eggsWARNING

Pros: Not expensive I paid about $25 including shipping. I ordered two.

Cons: Short life, non serviceable, old mechanical inaccurate timer. If you purchase this do not expect more than 100 hours of operation. Manufacture is worthless as far as repair you cannot even purchase a replacement bulb. When it fails don't waste your time throw it away. The glass bowl is extremely heavy duty so you may find a use for that candy or something maybe a big salad bowl.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice small oven. I like the glass view of what you are cooking inside. Cooks my Chicken very well.

Cons: The timer knob has play in it and is not accurate, there is also a spot in the timer that requires extra effort to get past. The timer knob also sits higher than the temp knob and does not look uniform. The 3 legged rack is always falling over when trying to arrange meat on it and can be a bit dangerous if the liquid in the bottom is already hot from a prior use. 4 or 5 legs on this rack would have solved this problem. I have been using it for Chicken Quarters and you have to be careful with the second batch as the greasy water is very hot. Also when removing the meat make sure the last piece is over one of the legs or it will topple.

Other Thoughts: I have reported this unit for an RMA, however I never dreamed that I would have to pay return shipping on a defective item as that doesn't seem right. I did not order a defective item. This does not give the MFG an incentive to produce good quality if they do not have to stand by its return. Seems like a good way to get their Defects or Factory Seconds sold and in Consumers hands. Not sure I will buy with these terms again.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Addition to our Kitchen

Pros: What a great addition to our kitchen! I have several electric appliances that I've bought, used 1-2 times and have been relegated to a shelf in the basement. Not this one - we use it all the time. It makes great, crispy chicken and drains all the fat.

Cons: A bit gross to clean because you cannot fully clean the heating element and it gets splattered with grease during cooking.

Other Thoughts: Love it so much that I bought another for my MIL. Can't believe that we've had ours for almost 3 years.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Cheap, efficient. I use this on the highest setting for cooking small things for the kids like corn dogs for example it crisps them them nicely.

Cons: I've read from several people that these burn out very quickly. I've used mine probably of total of 2 hours and have not had any problems yet. They're cheap enough that when they fail just throw it away. I bought two on a super duper sale. I think I paid less than $25 each including shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the money, get one!

Pros: An economical solution to roasting chicken, pork, fish and beef!
Almost exact duplicate of the expensive ones except for fancy pricing and fancy plastics, operates the same way as expensive ones.
Fast cooking with the halogen lights
Solid build and materials for this price range
Cooks both sides of my steaks without having to flip them around.
Cooks a whole chicken as advertised!

Cons: Plastic handle is flimsy.
Timer feels like it's going to spring open every time I turn/dial it back to start cooking.
Did not come with lid holder or extended rack like other units I bought before.
After cooking something that's heavy in oil, such as a chicken, all of the yucky, slimy oil and good gets stuck to the bottom of the bowl....it's very hard to clean once the oil sets and turns into white lard.

Other Thoughts: I've had 5 of these so far...all of them have had different names (Turbo, Rosewill, Sunpentown, Secura & VOX) but all do the same and even look very similar. The only difference is the accessories and the lamp inside (I think) and the Secura brand was different in design.

Overall quality of each of these are about the same as well. None of them will last forever..they'll last about 6-8 months depending on how often you use them. I use them about 4-5 times a week and all of them (except the Rosewill) has lasted about 6 months before seeing the halogen go out or pieces of plastic melting or parts breaking off...especially the handle and those that have the circular timer.

Overall, this Rosewill branded halogen oven is great for the price. If it breaks, it's not so expensive that you can just get another one. I highly recommend it but for no more than $40.
