5 out of 5 eggsCoffee!

Pros: Makes coffee good.

Cons: Doesn't turn into a robot.

Other Thoughts: For $90? Eh okay. Any higher and I think I'd get offended.

But lots of great features that I barely use.

Not sure I like the retro knob... I'm mildly afraid I'm going to break it. ... And it just seems terribly out of place. Was cuisinart designing a retro airplane or a coffee maker?

3 out of 5 eggsworks, not hot enough, hard to read water level

Pros: Easy to use, easy to clean, as advertised.

Cons: The water dripping into the coffee filter is simply NOT hot enough. The hot plate does a decent job in heating the coffee AFTER it is brewed, however, the optimal temperature to actually brew the coffee is 195-210F.

The water level marker is actually INSIDE the coffee machine which makes it hard to see how much water you are adding. This becomes a problem when you make under 4 cups of coffee as the carafe labels anything above the 4 cup mark.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 24 months

Pros: While it worked, it made fine coffee in a reasonable amount of time.

Cons: After about a year, brewing time slowed down considerably. What used to take 5 minutes to brew 4 cups, become closer to 15-20. At two years to the date and nearly 1/2 brew times, it finally stopped all together and water starting to pour out the bottom when the reservoir was filled. I cleaned this coffee maker once per month using Brew Rite which had worked very well for me for years. Regardless of how well I took care of it and followed the mfr cleaning schedule, it still only made it 24 months. After reading the other posts on customers with the same problem having to pay almost $25 to return and have replaced, I'm deciding to cut my losses with this company and this product and move on to another mfr. I bought this largely based on the Cuisinart name but like so many mfrs these days, quality has gone out the window, along with customer service. Two year life span for a $75 coffee maker is simply unacceptable and will now cost Cuisinart a customer for life and an immeasurable amount of bad press from me letting everyone I know who is considering a coffee maker to avoid anything made by Cuisinart.

3 out of 5 eggsTimer Display absolutely useless

Pros: Decent quality.
Has temperature sensor on carefe heater, NICE. Will not burn coffee. Three levels of heat.
Cone filter system.
"Start" switch is a retro toggle...i like that.

Cons: Digital display absolutely useless. It is way way too small, and not backlit. Don't buy this if you want to use a timer.
Coffee is ok. Not bad, not good. "Dial" switches feel really cheap.

Other Thoughts: List price is a RIP. It is an ok coffeemaker. Not really worth the asking price. But the sensor on the heating pad is NICE. Even after leaving it on for an hour coffee does not really deteriorate in taste. No burned tasted.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid CoffeeMaker

Pros: Great so far.. bought it as a present for my home to replace current Makita brand. Just wanted to try something newer with a few more features. I like the look of the maker, and it brews a fine cup of coffee (to be honest, I can't tell the difference in taste from prior maker). Coffee comes out hot, its easy to program, and the filter feature is cool. I like the variable setting on the unit for heating element temperature. 5 beeps when the coffee is done. Nice.

Cons: Detecting how much water you've entered is a pain using the markings on the inside of the water reservoir... an absolute PAIN.. I like to use my water spout and enter water until I know I have what I want. You can barely see when the water has passed by the number marking you want. The markings look like little DICE inside the reservoir. They need to fix this... Anyway, you can just pour your needed water in caraffe FIRST then pour and you'll be fine, OR measure using measuring glass (8oz="2" ) No biggie, however.. because of other methods I can use.

Other Thoughts: Great coffeemaker.. I like the shiny look on the Stainless Steel color that I bought. We have great tap water here so the water filter idea, while cool, is not relevant for me.

5 out of 5 eggsCuisinart DCC-1200

Pros: We have had our unit about 12 years and it is working fine! We now have 2 residences and I was looking for another unit for our 2nd home and I am very surprised at the negatives about this unit. I would only buy a Cuisinart coffee maker!

Cons: Has a glass serving container and would prefer a metal unit to protect against breaking it.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Makes good coffee. (While it is working)

Cons: I have had three of these coffee makes. Same model DCC 1200 they last about 1 to 2 years and then stop working. Cuisinart is horrible to deal with after the one year mark. There are many better brands out there. stay clear of this one.

2 out of 5 eggsSome good,poor engineering

Pros: It makes good coffee and you can take a cup at any stage in the brewing process.

Cons: The water fill position is in the right rear of the machine and the fill opening position makes it difficult to see and view the water level at the same time if the machine is on a standard countertop.I am 5'-11" tall. The combination of the fill shape and location make it difficult to fill without spilling from a Britta pitcher. I use a funnel to prevent spills.
The carafe is NOT spill proof.

Other Thoughts: If you start with a measured amount of water and a funnel, spills can be avoided.
The carafe will spill if anywhere near full from the top of the carafe cover.

5 out of 5 eggsOn my second one

Pros: First one i purchased back around 2004 lasted about 4 years. Purchased second one 2008 and I am still using it daily. Other cheaper units I purchased would last a year or so. Spend the extra cash and get this one. Purchased this on another site. Might get a third in the near future if mine gives out this year or next.

Cons: None. Long lasting coffee maker. 4 to 5 years or more.

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to get the charcoal filter packs to filter your water if your using the tap.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best!

Pros: I brew a TON of coffee and generally blow through a drip maker in less than a year. Have tried everything from cheap Mr. Coffee's up to several hundred dollar Bunn's. For the price, this has been the most durable and easy to use drip pot. It brews fast, has a very good 4 cup feature for those that like strong single cups, and is easy to clean and maintain.

Cons: While the carafe may hold 12 cups, the basket cannot hold enough grounds for a decent 12 cupper. It will overflow leaving you with grounds in the carafe, water reservoir, and water filter on the other side. Not good. If you treat this like a 10 Cup pot, it will give you no problems.
As with most drip pots, wish the strike water was a few degrees warmer. In that regard, this is still better than the vast majority out there.

Other Thoughts: Best coffee pot in the $80-$130 range.
