5 out of 5 eggsFourth unit purchased

Pros: System was very clean with all internals shiny. Wanted something cheap to replace my wife's laptop with until I could build something good.

I moved her SSD from the laptop as the primary drive and used the included 160GB drive as data storage (reminding her to backup to the server of course).

Upgraded to 4GB of RAM and installed a low profile GPU from Zotek and now she can play minecraft on full settings.

Cons: Some smudges on the case, but who cares? The monitor is VGA only which is fine since she already had one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PC's for Great Price

Pros: Screens are just fine, case is fine, drives are doing fine. Not banged up at all. All Emblems, stickers, and Windows Genuine Stickers are intact and in place as they should be.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: NEWEGG and The Refurb Manf. made good on the re-installation DVD's my praise to taking care of me during the busy holidays. Downloaded Speccy to check how much the HDD had been used and if internally that I received what I paid for; everything is as expected. Love it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: price, usability

Cons: customer service, problems with monitor functioning right with the computer, hardware not secured good, cleanliness but being a bit picky!

Other Thoughts: This is a good computer for the price. I recently bought 3 of them. I purchased only one first. I received it in a timely manner, but it was missing the discs that was suppose to be with it. Took several calls & emails & after almost a month I finally received the discs in the mail. There is a lack of communication from Mfr. & newegg. I just recently received the 2nd two I bought. They arrived with everything included. After hooking them up & starting to play on them, I realized there was a problem & come to find out the first computer was having the same problem. The monitors would go black several times throughout a day & the computer stated " display driver stopped responding & has recovered". Lasts about 5 sec each time. After Playing around for awhile, come to find out there is a incompatibility issue with the computer & the monitor. This can be fixed through windows update. No need to do all updates if you don't want. Its listed under the optional updates & there is 2 or 3 updates that need to be downloaded & it will fix this issue. It would be nice if the Mfr. would handle this issue before these computers go out to purchasers to avoid problems for themselves & for the consumers who may not know much about computers these days. After fixing this isssue, no known problems since. Will post update if more issues arise. Also the DVD drive wasn't mounted, just laying in the case when received on one of them. Cleanliness inside & out of the computers could be better also. Dust causes overheating & failures. Just saying! Overall, at this point, I would probably be willing to purchase another one if needed & have recommended this site.

3 out of 5 eggsQuality Control

Pros: Nice for the price. Everything thus far seems to function correctly.

Cons: Some of the fans were still filled with dust-balls, and the scratch and dent price fits. They were not very cosmetically appealing, very scratched and scuffed. One of the machine shipped with a serial cable instead of a VGA cable. Making it useless to setup for Christmas presents for the kids, most disappointing.

3 out of 5 eggsyou get what you pay for

Pros: fast shipping
fast searching
good for school work
desktop comes with inside speaker

Cons: blacks out randomly
came with an invalid window key
low GB
cant play games

Other Thoughts: Its perfect for light use like internet searching and writing papers. I had to look up how to fix the invalid windows key and managed to fix it myself, but I don't know why the monitor blacks out randomly then comes back on.

3 out of 5 eggs32 bit and bad DVD drive

Pros: Great PC for the price.

Cons: DVD drive will not read DVDs. Reads CDs fine. There goes $20 right there. Win7 Pro 32 installed. Cannot install 64 bit with this trash DVD drive.

Other Thoughts: Heaviest computer I've had in 20+ years. Heaviest monitor I've had since my 20" CRT. How can this little computer and monitor weigh so much?

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Big, cable management, white LEDs, lots of fans, hard drive bays come out.

Cons: One of the non-removeable screws was bend but with some elbow grease I fixed it.

Other Thoughts: The hdd light wasn't working but I think it's user error (I didn't put them in right) otherwise it's great.
Love looking at it.

5 out of 5 eggs32-bit?

Pros: None. Even though I wouldn't buy this, it is what it is, and I'm not going to mark it down.

Cons: I have a similar set-up, a Dell Optiplex 755, with 2GB memory, a 250GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I liked it when I got it, and I still use it almost every day, but I wouldn't buy it again now. And I could get it for less than $199.00.

I upgraded the memory to 4Gb, but then a few months ago the second pair of memory slots went bad, and I had to pull half the memory out to get the machine to run. (all four sticks work in the first two slots)

Other Thoughts: A 3.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor is pretty good, I could upgrade the memory to 8GB, and I could get by with 160GB hard drive, but why a 32-bit operating system? Someone didn't think that through.

4 out of 5 eggsGood units

Pros: Ordered 2 of these for a client, and the units arrived in good condition, some marks on the top of one where a monitor must have been, but nothing real bad. These are nice because they have a small footprint being small form factor PC's.
Came with 4 GB of RAM, totally clean inside and out. One had Windows 7 32 Bit pre installed, and seamlessly did a fresh install with the Windows 7 64 Bit disk that came with it. The second unit came with Windows 7 64 Bit pre installed so didn't have to do anything. There are 4 RAM slots, and it can be upgraded if you wish to 8 GB I think. The units run pretty quiet also.

Cons: Only con would be the marks on top of one unit.

Other Thoughts: For refurbished, older tech desktops, they work just fine for standard business use, and are fast enough for some basic video viewing, picture editing, etc. If you stick a good video card in it, it will play basic games easily.

4 out of 5 eggsAwsome Deal!

Pros: The workstation was ordered as an upgrade from an XP system currently in use. We were looking for something cheap but functional. Having a 3GHZ dual core CPU was a big jump from the old single core 1.5GHZ of the previous model.

According to the research we did before ordering there was only supposed to be two DIMM slots so we ordered a 4GB kit (2GB of RAM is simply not enough). However I was surprised to find that there are four DIMM slots so now the system is running 6GB of DDR2-800 RAM. Though on one hand this is good, we could have saved some money and used a couple of 1GB sticks we already had. This was probably my fault for not doing proper research.

I personally wanted this unit for the RAID functionality. We had another 160GB Seagate SATA2 drive lying around and configured this for RAID1.

Unlike what is pictured (but is in the description) the unit came with an NEC monitor. Specifically the LCD1770VX-BK-2 which has DVI input. Though the computer does not have DVI it does have a DP out so a simple DP to DVI cable would make this perfect. I did not test the monitor as there is already one in place.

The keyboard and optical mouse are from iMicro and the keyboard says it is waterproof (not tested). Both are very basic. The unit has built-in speakers which are very loud. Great for everyday use.

It was shipped with Adobe Reader, CDBurnerXP, OpenOffice, and 7-zip preloaded. They also had an installer for MSE on the desktop. We also received both 32 and 64bit Windows 7 Professional SP1 install discs.

The last thing I wanted to mention was how quite the system is. You can barely hear anything come from it.

Cons: • The unit was physically scratched pretty badly, but honestly that doesn’t matter since it will be under a desk.
• We found a lot of large dust balls inside.
• The lid wasn’t properly latched and was loose when it arrived.
• The RAM was not in a proper dual channel configuration which caused some problems during the RAM upgrade we did.
• It came with 32bit Windows 7 Pro installed, so we had to re-install using 64bit (the performance was much better after switching).
• It still had the Vista badge on the chassis (but that’s being picky).

Other Thoughts: With a 3GHZ Core 2 Duo, 4-6GB of RAM, 64bit Windows 7 Professional, included digital monitor, and at the sale price we paid $200 ($250 w/ RAM upgrade) this was a home run for a basic workstation. Didn’t have to pay HP $400 for a new low end model and no one dangled Windows 8 in front of us.
