4 out of 5 eggsGreat Economical Computer

Pros: Great price
Quite fast

Cons: small case size
low wattage powersupply

Other Thoughts: Great computer for the cost. Build my own desktop 8 years prior and i needed an upgrade. I go to school for Autocad and i do play World Of Warcraft so i needed something that was good in price and would run both. Upgraded the ram and added a gtx650 graphics card and it runs great! the case makes it hard to put in upgrades and the airflow is quite low but i hope i can transfer all the components to a new case and resolve the cooling issue. Overall great computer for its price

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No problems with delivery or start up of the new ASUS desktop PC. It has been running over a month with no issues and is much faster processing than my 8 year old HP desktop. Great PC and great price.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Keyboard supplied with the unit is low end, but I didn't use it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, works

Cons: Warranty sticker nonsense

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use as a Linux box. It acts as a file and print server, and monitors my CCTV cameras with ZoneMinder. I bought a cheap 8-input BT878 card to connect my cameras, so I needed a machine with an old-school PCI slot. This thing works fine, I had to void the warranty to install the capture card but oh well. I got it set up, stuck it in the closet, and it basically just works. It's on 24/7 and no heat or other issues, so I really can't complain. For the price it's less hassle than building my own.

1 out of 5 eggsHDD FAIL IN 2 WEEKS

Pros: Nothing positive - Big computer company wins again.

Cons: Hard Drive failed in 2 weeks so i call newegg for a replacement but was denied because I threw away the box.

So i call Asus and explain the problem (they had me do a system restore that of course failed). They want me to buy a box and ship it back to them. That will cost an easy $45!

So I ask Asus to send me ONLY a hard drive and ill replace it myself - DENIED.

Asus won. I am going to buy and put in a hard drive myself. Much easier and only a few bucks more expensive than sending it back to them.

Other Thoughts: I swear i have better luck with refurbished! I buy about 2 PC's a month.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry that your computer's hard drive failed. It seems like quite a bit of bad luck. Not only did you find out that your computer no longer works, but you had to pay for shipping to send the desktop back to us; that must have been quite a frustrating experience. I am glad, however, that you were able to fix the computer yourself by replacing the hard drive. Should you need further assistance, please let me know. My email is cl-mark@asus.com.

Best regards,

Mark

1 out of 5 eggsNever again

Pros: Alright while it lasted.

Cons: We had this computer for 2 months, when I turned around and left the room, came back to a black screen. Called Asus and tried to repair over the phone with no help. MUST send it back on my dime! Is it worth it? Don't think I'll ever buy a Asus computer again. Maybe not from Newegg either..

Other Thoughts: If something is under warranty. It shouldn't cost the customer more money if that "GREAT DEAL" fails from a manufacturers defect! So how did you save?

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Osie,

I am sorry that you had a bad experience with your CM6730 desktop. I completely understand how much of a hassle it is to have a computer that will not power on. If I may, I would like to help.

Have you had a chance to follow through with ASUS support and send your computer in to be looked at by our technicians?

Please let me know by emailing me at cl-mark@asus.com.

Regards,

Mark

3 out of 5 eggsIs common sense gone??

Pros: Good specs for my daughter. Good name brand***so I thought. I am happy with the specs for what I paid.

Cons: Used the computer for 3 weeks...started to get the BSOD. I ran some trouble shooting tests....bingo....fails the memtest. The machine only has 2 ram sticks, so I found the defective one and removed it. Machine works fine now...except that I only have 1 stick of ram in the machine. So I call Newegg to see if I can just get a replacement stick of memory so I don't have to ship the whole computer back. Well, they just direct me to call Asus and were no help at all. So I give Asus a call and express to them that I build computers for the company I work at and have lots of experience with building and fixing them. I explained to them that my computer has a bad stick of memory and I would like to be able to return my bad stick to them and have them ship me out a new one so I can replace it. Sorry sir, we can't do that....you have to ship the whole computer back in for a replacement computer! All for a lousy stick of ram that can be replaced in less than a minute!!! Also, since I opened the case to remove the bad ram, they probably wouldn't honor my warranty anyway!!

Other Thoughts: Is common sense gone?? Today it apparently makes more sense to a company to ship an item back for a minor thing instead of just sending out a replacement part that can be shipped out for about $2.00! Granted, not everyone would feel like me and they would want to ship the computer back and get a replacement. That is fine and I understand, but I offered an easy solution to them. I have built so many computers over the years and getting a bad stick of ram is a pretty common occurrence.

So, here I sit now shopping for a new ram kit for the computer. Hopefully I will not have any issues with the rest of the computer over the next year. Since I had to open it up, I have no doubt that I have voided my warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome ASUS

Pros: This computer deserves a much higher feedback rating than it has. If you disregard all the ratings that complain about not being able to modify it due to a label on the back saying you will null and void the manufacturers one year warranty by opening it up, you will be much better off. I always shop for what the unit is, not what I can modify it into. This unit has everything I wanted by leaving it stock and not playing with its insides. I learned a long time ago to buy what I need in a computer. This had exactly what I wanted and much, much, more for the money.

Starting off, I wanted Windows 7. My wife has a laptop with windows 8 and I just couldn't get used to it. I was far more comfortable with Windows 7. It has a one terabyte hard drive at 7200 RPMs, more than I will ever need. I'm set forever. I bought a Western Digital portable 1TB USB hard drive to hook up to it. It came with a USB keyboard and a USB Mouse. I had a USB WiFi plug-in for my Internet connection and printer operation. I also plugged in two USB Flash Pen Cruzer drives, a USB portable 3.5 floppy unit and another multi four outlet USB for additional USB applications all in the back of the unit. In other words, everything I had. This left the front two USB ports for my camera hook-ups. It isn't short on USB's.

My new 25" wide moniter has a VGA or HDMI input and the computer has both of them too. Take your choice. The processor is an Intel Core i5-2320 3.3GHz. You won't find many computers out there with an i5, 3.3 GHZ, most are i3 and lower GHZ. It also has a 64 bit Quad-Core Processor. This computer does not lack speed. It's incredible for my uses. The cooling fan on the unit is exceptionally quiet, so much so, I never hear it. The case looks nice too and is compact.

In summary, about the warranty label; It's the best excuse I can think of for my son and brother-inlaw to keep their hands out of my computer for those improvements they think I need. When they improve computers, they never work right again and always land in the trash heap.

Cons: I recommend immediately downloading the Windows updates because there were a slew of them. I even went back over and over because there were more and more. I also recommend downloading drivers because I found there were over 20 new ones for the unit. I use a free program download called Slimdrivers, but there are many on the internet.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick load time, Quiet, runs great.

Cons: Can not add parts without voiding the warranty.

Other Thoughts: This system runs really great for the money. I'm using it as a dedicated DAW and it was supposed to be a "hold me over" until I built a super DAW. But I don't think I need to now because it's handled everything I've thrown at it with ease. Highly reccommended.

3 out of 5 eggsGenerally Satisfied

Pros: Price
Features

Cons: Headphone port came slightly broken (not a big problem for me but needs to be mentioned)
Description says 2 expansion ports for extra drives, there is only 1 (kind of a problem for me)

Other Thoughts: Price dropped a week or so after I purchased, which is a pretty big bummer
