4 out of 5 eggsF-20 speakers

Pros: I purchased 2 of these floor standing speakers. One came damaged but New Egg sent a replacement. The speakers are better than average but that's all.Do Not buy from New Egg expecting a rebate, it will never come. I purchased an Asus router one year ago - never got the rebate for that either. These speakers were to have $50 rebates each that was the motivation to buy - 10 weeks later, No rebates!

Cons: See above!

Other Thoughts: I'm sure New Egg will bury or not publish this review but at least I tried.

3 out of 5 eggsOk upgrade

Pros: Great deal when i got these on sale. Very clear sound, especially highs and mids. I think they're a pinch better sound wise than the polk monitor 60's they replaced.

Cons: Bass output is just so so. Don't expect these to shake the house or anything, if you use them in a home theater, I'd recommend having a sub woofer.

Other Thoughts: Had one speaker come with a broke foot (thanks UPS) and had to exchange it for a replacement speaker because they wouldn't just send me a new foot. Well, my replacement speaker came with a slightly less broken foot, so I'll just live with it. If i could redo this purchase, i would have just gotten another set of Polk monitor 70's.

4 out of 5 eggsSpeaker works fine, issues with leg and rebate

Pros: Good sound. Looks nice. Price

Cons: Nothing wrong with how the speaker works, but one of the legs was cracked. Also, I got it around the time of Thanksgiving rebate of 2013, sent in the paperwork on time, but it's been 5 months and no rebate :(

Other Thoughts: Usually love to shop at New Egg. They tend to set a very high standard and usually live up to it. Disappointed this time with unmet high expectations.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Previous Review About Broken Legs

Pros: When they're working, they sound really crisp. In my opinion, they sound better than a pair of equivalent Polks, though everyone has different tastes, so definitely recommend you listen to a Klipsch or Polk if you're looking for some cheap starter speakers.

Cons: The two bottom drivers on one of the speakers that I bought, haven't worked since I took the speakers out of the box. The reason I gave a 3 star in my first review was because tech support seemed like they were on the ball with things. However, that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm an engineer, and am very good at troubleshooting hardware issues. I called Klipsch support and explained everything that I tried to get the bad speaker to work. I thought it was the banana plugs I was using, so I switched the plugs with the good, to the bad..nothing. I switched physical speaker locations to see if it was the AV receiver...not the AV receiver. Maybe the HDMI cable...not the HDMI cable (tried 3 different cables). I originally had the banana plugs, plugged into the top two terminals, and then I plugged them into the bottom two terminals to see if that would work...still nothing, I explained all of this to Klipsch support, and let them know that the only thing working properly on the speaker was the top tweeter. Klipsch promptly 'put in an order so that I can resolve the issue'. Their idea of fixing the issue was to send me another tweeter through the mail....I'd avoid Klipsch if you want a plug and play product. They have good products like I said....when they work, but it seems like that's a crapshoot. It's unfortunate too because I was looking at a set of Klipsch Reference series floor standing speakers as well, but after my experience, I doubt that I'll ever do business with Klipsch again.

Other Thoughts: You might have better luck, but be warned. You're probably going to have to call tech support to order some new legs for the speaker because chances are, if you order two speakers, one of them will have broken legs. If you do have problems with your speaker, don't expect them to willfully replace the whole speaker, they'll just send you replacement parts for you to fix yourself, which I don't know if that would void their warranty or not.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: Was on sale with a rebate. They sound way better to me than the little guys I had previously. Not bad at all for the price I paid. Pretty good bass and highs.

Cons: If paying retail price I would go with other options.

3 out of 5 eggsKlipsch Synergy F20's

Pros: New Egg's service is excellent. Bought a couple items from them and received all within a couple of days.

As far as the speakers; They arrived within 3 days of order and no damage at all to them. Klipsch speakers have a different sound to them and its something you sort of have an ear for or not. It's what I call a deeper sound. Which, at times, may sound a bit muffled or muddy. I have the Klipsch Quintets for center and surround with the F-20s for the left and right. And, the Klipsch 350 sub with it the system (excellent). Powered with a Yamaha Aventage RX 820.

Been breaking them in at a low to moderate level for about 20 plus hours now. I have literally gone back and forth switching the Deftech pro monitor 350's that I have with another system and I have to say that they are much clearer than the F20's.

* Very affordable speaker.
* Seem better for movies than for music.
* Good looking tower with and without the grill.

Cons: * Not as clear with music as I expected for a tower speaker.

Other Thoughts: Everyone's listening is different. What I like to try and find, especially in music, is that everything is pretty balanced with vocals and instruments. In other words, you can hear the vocals just as well as the drums and vice versa. One comparison I made between my deftech 350's and the F20s were with piano and the symbols in certain songs.

Listened to; The best of Molly Hatchet; Flirtin with Disaster, Dreams I'll Never Know, etc. Basically the whole CD has some excellent symbol work. On the deftechs, it was like the symbols were right in front of me. The F20's, they just weren't as defined.

Also listened to Lionel Richie with lots of Piano play. It was basically the same scenario. The Piano sounded right in front of me with the Deftechs, and not so much with the Klipsch's. The Deftechs 350 bookshelf's are probably a grade or two above the F20's with the clarity the whole way through. This is kind of surprising to me that a bookshelf could be that good.

For the size and the reputation I expected the F20's towers to outperform, or at least equal my bookshelf Deftechs.

5 out of 5 eggsSpeechless!

Pros: Clarity, power, presence

Cons: Be aware these are fairly large speakers, so need some space in your room.

Other Thoughts: Sell your car, sell your toys, heck sell your house -just buy these speakers!!!
Incredible clarity, amazing power,at nearly unlimited volume they put out fantastic sound. In one day I heard things never heard before in 30 years of listening to the same song!
