Sylvania SDVD1048 Portable DVD Player

Pros: Large screen, plenty of accessories, decent picture.

Cons: Buggy screen after a month, I should have sent it to the manufacturer while I could. Screen died at 3 months, after only moderate use. Better choices exist with a real warranty. Lesson learned.

Pros: While it worked, it worked great. Crisp screen, responsive buttons and remote, long lasting battery.

Cons: It stopped working 31 days after purchase. Because it's a refurb, it's no longer eligible for an RMA or refund after 30 days. It still reads the DVD, but only the right side of the screen is working, and it has black lines running up the full length of the screen. Very disappointing.

Other Thoughts: I'm very disappointed with this. Had it stopped working 1 day prior, I could have gotten an RMA. I don't blame NewEgg for this, but it's still frustrating.

Pros: It's cheap and works great. Big screen and battery lasts longer than other portables I have spent way more money on. Bang for the buck. I dont understand the bad reviews considering t he price on this. If you want a better picture go BLU-RAY

Cons: It doesn't transform into a decepticon ! Other than that does what it supposed to!

Other Thoughts: bag and earphones that come with it are a nice add-on that comes free with it

Pros: Does everything you could want it to do: plays off of sd card, plays mp3s off cd, easy to use interface buttons.
Great price, included carrying case, and adapters wrap up the deal.
A definitely worthy buy.

Cons: It wasn't free? It's not a bluray player? Nothing worth not buying it over.

Other Thoughts: For me I use it as a stand-alone CD player for listening to books on tape mostly. The on-board speakers are loud and clear enough to be heard over the three fish tanks in the room I use it in.

Pros: Well, It looks like it should be awesome, has ear buds, power brick, car charger, etc, etc. Remote.
The first Home Movie dvd worked for about 2 mins. then stopped. Tried another and the screen started flickering then rolling like back in the old TV days. Put in a store bought dvd movie, other then the screen flickering randomly, it seems to play it .

Cons: I will throw it away or wait, maybe I'll give it to a kid.
Would not buy again. I wish I would not have bought.

Other Thoughts: First dud I have gotten from Newegg. Oh well, it was a refurb.

Pros: This is really a great device. I was looking 3 specific features in a portable dvd player and this player has all of them.
First, I wanted a 10 inch screen. You may not think there's much of difference between a 9 or 10 inch screen but a 10 inch screen provides a much better viewing experience. Second, I wanted a device that plays movies off of an sd card [because (1) it's easier to carry lots of movies on card vs a bunch of dvd discs and (2) it uses less of the battery when watching off a card vs playing a dvd]. Be careful though, because it doesn't play movies encoded using some of the newer codecs. I used a popular program called handbrake (ver. 9.3 or older - don't use the current version which is 9.6) to rip a dvd to AVI format using the divx codec and it played perfectly. Third, I wanted extended battery life and this has a 5 hour battery which longer than most players. Also, mine came with a carry case, headphone splitter, and car charger. Awesome!

Cons: Can't play movies from SD card that were encoded using more modern codecs. However, as I wrote above, AVI files encoded with divx should be fine.
