5 out of 5 eggsquiet, cool

Comments: This is my first SFF computer. When I first put it together, I must have forgot to plug the fan in, so the whole computer got really hot to the touch. I thought it was defective... hehe user error. So my config is

P4-3.0ghz
2x512mb ram
HP dvd writer
seagate sata 200gb primary drive
maxtor sata 80gb secondary drive
yamaha 2.1 speakers

very quiet. I can hear the optical mouse move (the scan rate of the optical mouse is near hearing range, if the mouse circuit is near the audio, then you can hear the scan. it sounds like a buzzing noise).

no space, anytime you want to change anything, you have to take everything out. the factory drive cage screws are 1mm smaller than standard hole on the hardrives, so they spin and fall out. get your own screws!

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I bought one of these Shuttle computers, 2.4 processor, WD 40 GIG drive and gig of Kingston DDR 400 (runs @2-2-2-6) to use an internet surfer. At last, I'm rid of all of Windows XP's "security issues". This computer runs fast and is verrrry quiet. No problems with build or operation. The built-in graphics are OK with a download of Intel's newest driver. Super little machine! Service and prices from Newegg are the best!

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I went thru 3 of these before i finally got one that had a properly working sound. Runs a little hot but not too bad. All in all, its a pretty well thought of machine. OC's real well. Got my 2.4C to 2.85Ghz without breaking a sweat. I'd definitely get another one in the future. If you plan on getting this machine, buy the V3 version with the larger power supply. You'd have a better piece of mind knowing that you have more power to support those faster vid cards and possibly 2 HD's.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I chose this model because of high ratings and many reviews. Easy to assemble, to setup, and to upgrade! It is not easy for "some small form computers" to reopen and close but I already did this "Shuttle" several time. Shuttle's 20 years experience on Xpc!
My System runs very quietly at 3.1 w/o OC but whole case is warm.
I put the same CPU from Intel 865 board where I got 2.9 speed.
Shuttle board recognized DDR400 and dual channel but Intel 865 not always.

my system: 3.0C 800FSB CPU, SATA 160G HD Maxtor,
2x256Mb DDR400 Dual Channel
8x DVD-RW(w/8Mb), YE-data FDD w/media reader

%overkills> 2SATA, 2IDE connections, 2 pairs and 1 extra pwr cables
*caution: need USB2.0 driver, check SATA HD pwr cable

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machine, but not for Intel Prescott (ie. 3.0E ghz)

Comments: Get the 3.0C processor for a GREAT machine. The new Intel Prescott CPUs (those ending with E) are not supported by the SB61G2. Our company runs a bunch of these machines.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat but

Comments: For some reason I haven't been able to get any sound to come out. It doesn't seem like a driver issue, WinXP doesn't detect any issues, either. I bought this last week and am still working on this issue. That, and my BIOS doesn't automatically reboot after saving. Any ideas?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat system

Comments: 2.8GHz P4C, 512MB PC3200 Crucial RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 XT video card. With the video card installed, the heat generated by the Power Supply made me a little nervous, but I'm told that these power supplies can take a little extra heat. Never the less, if building a gaming system, I would suggest going with a Shuttle which includes one of the new 250 watt power supplies in lieu of the 200 watt. Aside from that, the system works great, runs cool with the on board video card, and is very quiet. Great build quality.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I just built one of these with a 2.8 P4C, 1GB Geil DDR400, Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro, and Seagate 80GB SATA drive. This little box is awesome performance wise, however, the sound is not very good. The onboard sound hisses and sometimes crackles and will get on your nerves if you are used to Audigy/2 level of sound. If you get this think about also putting in a soundcard in the PCI slot. Also if you do that, I think it will disable the front audio ports on your xpc.

5 out of 5 eggsdefinitely yummy

Comments: I have one of these w/2.6 HT p4, gig'o'ram, gf3ti200 in the AGP slot, Audigy2 in the PCI, 160GB Maxtor. Just wanted to let the *nix lovers out there know if they don't already - this little box runs great with alternate OSes, namely Linux. Mepis seems to load *very* well, gets you vid acceleration + sound + net thru built-in realtek. Also been able to play the ut2k4 demo in said linux distro w/o any issues. It was almost too easy ;)

This box is phenomenal with just about every modern OS I've tried, even for the folks still using closed source will find this fits very nicely. I can't wait for the 64-bit gaming boxes to come out!
