The NH-L12 is a low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. With its flexible NF-F12 (120mm) / NF-B9 (92mm) dual PWM fan setup, the NH-L12 can be configured either for full performance in dual fan mode or extra-low profile (66mm) with the top fan removed. Bundled with the award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound and Noctua’s SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, the NH-L12 packs everything a premium quality quiet cooler needs into a highly compact package.

  • newegg 120/92mm dual fan design Thanks to its exquisite dual fan setup consisting of Noctua’s highly optimised NF-F12 (120mm) and NF-B9 (92mm) premium fans, the NH-L12 pushes the bar in terms of low-profile quiet cooling performance.
  • newegg Extra-low profile in 92mm single-fan mode The NH-L12 can be used with the NF-B9 92mm fan only in order to reduce the overall height to 66mm. This way, the cooler is suitable for many typical ATX or Mini-ITX enclosures and ideal for whisper-quiet HTPC systems.
  • newegg PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptors The NH-L12’s NF-F12 and NF-B9 fans support PWM for convenient automatic speed control. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced to 1200/1300rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptors for even quieter operation.
  • newegg SecuFirm2 mounting system Noctua’s enthusiast grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting provides broad socket compatibility (LGA 2011, LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA775, AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1) and meets the highest demands in safety, performance and ease-of-use.
  • newegg Mini-ITX mounting without backplate Some Intel based Mini-ITX mainboards don’t allow for the installation of backplates. The NH-L12 thus comes with an extra set of Intel mounting bolts which make it possible to install the cooler without using the SecuFirm2 backplate.
  • newegg NT-H1 thermal compound Noctua's much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Very high quality packaging and heatsink/fans. The mounting system is very easy to use. The same as the D-14 and most other Noctua products. The fans are very very quiet and even at max speed are drowned out by my other case fans. A plus of this cooler is that since it blows air down onto the motherboard, it coolers the socket, power delivery, RAM, and back of the GPU. Motherboard temp sensors showed consistently low temps for the power delivery and RAM. Pretty good temps at idle and stock clocks. Cores idle between 27-32 C at stock clocks (i7-4770k). In game temps are great as well. Playing War Thunder all the cores average around 40-45C with Core 1 being at around 55C (at 100% usage).

Cons: This cooler is not for overclocking. Do not buy this is you plan to overclock. It simply cant handle it. I ran prime95 (stock clocks (i7-4770k) with fans at maximum (Corsair 350D case with 2 Aerocool Sharks pulling in air from the front)) and the temps were in the mid 60's (Celsius) . After about the 5 mins they had climbed to the low 70's. I left it for about 2 hours and came back to find some of the cores where in the high 70's. Initially this cooler does a decent job but after a while it gets heat soaked and temps begin to soar. I opened the side panel and touched the heat pipes which were pretty toasty. To the point where it was began to burn after about 5 seconds. The fins were also very warm so at least it was wicking the heat away.

Other Thoughts: Very low profile and doesn't obstruct anything. A tab bit overpriced in my opinion but it is still a good value. Great cooler for a small and silent build.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Me and my brother bought this heatsink to pair with a FX8-8320 8-core cpu and suprisely it keeps it at 27 degrees celsius while idling (according to a fan controller/ thermometer). I honestly could not believe it especially since the FX has a reputation to be hot and a power hog.Very good mounting.

Cons: This fan barely had room for my 8gb G-Skill ram so watch out although i doubt you will have problems.

Other Thoughts: Amazing cpu heatsink. A tad expensive but it is worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet !!

Pros: Very quiet, was quite impressed how quiet this heatsink fan combo was. Even though you have two fans it was as quiet as can be. Large radiator and keeps cpu cool an i7 at 36 to 40C under midrange load.

Cons: Somewhat big, large radiator may not fit in some mini itx mother boards. Ram clearance may be an issue for some.

Other Thoughts: Solution to Ram too high for radiator, buy lower profile ram.

5 out of 5 eggsCools well in a tight space

Pros: It fits (barely) in my Lian Li PC-Q08 case and keeps the CPU below 50 while running Prime95

Cons: Spring clips are not robust; I had to bend them to hold the fans firm. The price is a bit steep.

Other Thoughts: I was able to fit both fans in the case, but I had to use 90* connectors on the ODD, and flip the top fan around so that the tips of the heat pipes didn't it the fan.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes the job

Pros: very quiet, cools efficiently. easy to install for a big cooler. wont let me overclock to 4.6 on i7, but i was never looking for that. i'll have to update it as i test oc.

Cons: have to remove fans to install, not really an issue. covers ram ports on asus z87 plus board, pain to install another 8 gigs, have to take this thing off, which i should have realized before waiting to buy more ram.

5 out of 5 eggsMy first fancy cpu cooler

Pros: Adjustable fans
Medium size (good for small rigs)
Good design

Cons: Could limit your memory options

Other Thoughts: I'm very realistic when reviewing a product and i really liked this cooler. First thing though, I had to adjust it's fans (which ended up fitting just fine on a z87i-deluxe) just a little bit. I'm happy with it though.

Regardless of what reviews say (can fit in 'this' csae without the top fan...etc) i have to admit with the only con it has, that is the cooler could limit what ram you use, that is, assuming you're installing it as most of us would, having part of the fan cover your ram just a little.

Other than that i'm confident it does its job well and have no regrets on replacing this with the stock cooler of any cpu.

ps: if your setup is on a full size atx you might be able to install it in a different way without any problems and still use a high profile ram but then agian, you'll probably be wanting something with water cooling. Just a possibility if 3-7 degrees are not a big deal for you.
