  • newegg Six Heatpipe Dual Radiator Design Providing more surface area, better heat-distribution, and superior airflow efficiency than conventional tower style heatsinks, the NH-D14’s six heatpipe dual-radiator design was developed to provide the ultimate quiet cooling performance in dual-fan mode.
  • newegg Dual NF-P14/NF-P12 Fan Setup The NH-D14 sports a premium quality dual fan setup consisting of Noctua’s award-winning NF-P12 (120mm) and NF-P14 (140mm) fans, both of which feature Vortex-Control Notches, SCD technology, and SSO-Bearings in order to achieve the perfect balance of performance and quietness.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster Cooler, Monster Proformance

Pros: When mounted correctly, (right amount of thermal compound and even pressure while tightening) cools wonderfully and quiet! $80 for top of the line air cooling is well worth it. My i5 4690k is now idling at 27°C @ 4.6 Ghz.

Cons: None. Works as good as you can expect a top of the line air cooler possibly could.

2 out of 5 eggsYou can do better for the money

Pros: Pretty well designed and seems like it has some great cooling capability.
Fans are very easy to install and remove.
It's better than stock....

Cons: As everyone has said, this thing is huge. I knew this when I bought it but I was still overwhelmed when I saw the box and then again when I held it for the first time. You're going to need a full tower this!

It's cooling ability is sub par for the price and if I had to guess it's due to the lack of air flow. I was using a xigmatek loki before, for which I paid $30 (compared to $80 +shipping), and the xigma is only about 5 degrees warmer on average. Not much of an upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I think if you upgraded the fans to 4 pin, higher RPM fans this cooler might be really impressive. For that you would probably spend another $40+ and at that point you might as well go liquid cooled. It seems over engineered, when my much cheaper cooler just through a 2800 RPM fan on it for practically the same end result. Buy something else, please.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: This thing keeps the CPU very cool, and it is very attractive from an engineering standpoint. Works well, and installs well. I also thought the packaging was fun.

Cons: not a single one I can see at this point

Other Thoughts: Double check that you have space in your case for this--it is large. I also chose low profile ram so double check ram height if you go for this.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Quiet

Pros: Very quiet when used with the rpm limiters. Installation was very easy and went together without issue. Stock 4790k never above 60c under Lynx loading.

Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for.

2 out of 5 eggsLooks good, didn't perform for me.

Pros: Looks good. Built like a tank. Look like a tank.

Cons: I purchased this heatsink because of the good reviews but I must of been one of the few that got a unit that did not perform. Compared to my Lucifer v2 which was 10c-15c cooler than the this Noctua (with 3 fans, mind you) that was running my overclocked 4.6mhz fx8320 to it's limit of 70c in a haf932 case. It's going back.

5 out of 5 eggsCompared to My Hyper 212

Pros: Finely machined baseplate sits FLAT in the CPU for excellent thermal conductivity.

Baseplate machined to a mirror finish.

Baseplate adds a little extra mass right on top of the CPU.

Everything was well thought out in the design as well as in the instructions.

Literally knocked 5 C (idle) to 6 C (full load) off of my i7 4790k (not overclocked) compared to my Hyper 212 (in the same exact case).

This list could be extensive, but you get the idea.

Cons: NOT A CON because it is as advertised, however:

I wonder if they put those unsightly fans on these units in order to keep such awesome performance out of the hands of the vein. I could think of no other viable reason.

Other Thoughts: Coming from a Hyper 212 this is a superb cooling unit. Temps are down so far I may consider a prmanent overclock on this i7 4790k now.

While the Hyper 212 is a good budget cooler, and will allow for a 4.5GHz overclock, seeing 85 C on a CPU is not something to feel confident about.

I am interested in seeing how this puppy does @4.5GHz.

I was not sure if this was going to be worth the money for an upgrade, but compared to the Hyper 212 it is like moving from what SHOULD have been a stock Intel heat sink to a good aftermarket one.

Oh yeah, and it will fit in an Antec Sonata III 500.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This cooler is very silent and works so well. I honestly did't need it, as my cpu came with one, and I dont overclock, but I just wanted to try it out, and am very pleased. I will only recommend and purchase Noctua fans from now on. The fans can be moved up or down, if your ram interferes, which is a big plus.

Cons: Not a con for me, but I had to do some research when deciding on my motherboard/ram combo, to see if it would clear the fans.

Other Thoughts: Asus Crosshair IV formula, G Skill Ripjaws

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Extremely cool. Provided fans are really quiet, even on max. Currently have this cooling a 4790k @ 4.6 @ 1.19v and temps are ~27c idle and never exceed 70c on load/benchmarks. Phenomenal cooler. Definitely recommend.

Cons: My old cooler didn't work as well as this, so my room would heat up just from my computer. With this I now have to use a space heater instead.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have enough room in your case cause this thing is huge, about the size of an adult head. Also make sure it will clear your RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsYou could bludgeon someone to death with this

Pros: Quiet
Package includes hardware for both Intel and AMD if you ever decide to switch
Mounting is easy
I don't mind the brown

Cons: I was shocked at how freakin huge this is. No really...it's 3lbs of HUGE!

Other Thoughts: I have worries about that much weight hanging off the motherboard. I definitely wouldn't move my case very often with it inside
