2 out of 5 eggsFans shouldn't die this fast

Pros: I purchased two of these fans and put them in the front of a HAF 922 to suck air in. They did their job well for a year.

Cons: Extremely loud and died after 1 year.

Other Thoughts: - I understood I was buying loud fans, not really an issue since I usually have headphones on. However, the noise wasn't just produced from the blades. I could also hear the sleeve bearing ticking like a time bomb.

- I run my machine about 30-35 hours per week. These fans only lasted 1 year. One of the fans completely seized up, the other one tries to spin but surges on and off. I tested both in another system on a different PS and get the same results.

Stay away from these fans.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful fans

Pros: Really powerful and work great running around 50-60% power. I have them set to only go faster if the heat at certain points of the system hit high levels.

Cons: Really loud when running at full speed but they are pushing a ton of air.

Other Thoughts: Recommend using these with a fan controller as they are loud when running full speed but at lower speeds they still push more air than most when they are maxed out.

1 out of 5 eggsFans seize after a year

Pros: I bought four of these fans, and when initially installed they worked great. Those suckers moved air like a champ.

Cons: I currently have only one fan working, the other three have seized. I confirmed this by switching the fan plugs around - all my motherboard fan ports work perfectly, the fans have just seized.

Other Thoughts: I emailed scythe support a month ago and received no reply. American support for scythe has apparently moved to Taiwan. They provided a foreign number to call (thanks, but no thanks) or an email address.

No support + defective products = will not buy from this company again.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Fan

Pros: High blade count

Cons: After 10 months of use the fan died on me. I have had fans running for over 6 years that have never failed. What junk!

2 out of 5 eggsNice while it lasted

Pros: It moved a lot of air

Cons: While it was noisy it didn't bother me too much. Unfortunately, the fan did fail after a year of usage. It failed after a burnt smell was coming from the computer.

4 out of 5 eggsgood replacement

Pros: this fan works well with my antec liquid cooler. I had to move more cfm and this done it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: good fan, kinda pricey but same quality as silverstone

3 out of 5 eggsGood fan, short life

Pros: Good solid piece of hardware. Runs until it doesn't

Cons: Design is a little slipshod. When fan is in operation, it puts lift stress on the motor and bearings. Should have turned the blades around so that the lift force was towards the motor rather than away from it. Probably would last much longer by doing that and adding a small metal plate to the base of the motor casing.

Other Thoughts: Good fan for the money if you're looking for a short-term fix (less than 2 years)

1 out of 5 eggsFire Hazard

Pros: This bad boy could move some air and worked good for along time

Cons: Its loud, but I knew that before i purchased it. It also caught fire. See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Thankfully I was in the room when this thing went. I powered up my computer and smelled smoke!!! The fan caught fire. I assure you that I made no changes to the fan what so ever and operated it well within its limits only maxing its rpm out when I benchmarked my computer upon initial build. The fire originated from the motor it self. I am confident that this is a very isolated event but the loss of my house and property it not worth the price of any fan. I was a fan of this brand because of its performance, but now I will never buy another one and inform all my peers of what happened.

2 out of 5 eggsKind of loud, high failure rate.

Pros: These fans moved a lot of air when they worked.

Cons: After less than a year, I've had 2 seize up. Even though I'm reading that they can be re-lubricated, I expect better...and I replaced them with another brand when they went bad.
