3 out of 5 eggsNot so good fans

Pros: The fans are good for your basic needs of cooling. Runs quiet.

Cons: I bought 4 fans, and after a while I had one start making noises, then another one started making noises. I replace those fans with a different brand after I checked them out to find out that the fins had cracks in them.

5 out of 5 eggsREREVIEW

Pros: Excellent fan wish i would have bought more when they sold for 8.98 each now 37 bucks..... My opinion still worth every penny moves massive amounts of air....... Purchased in April 2011 still running today like champions April 2014.....

Cons: The cost today is a bit over inflation being i purchased these in 2011 for much less..... would still pay the 37 dollars for one thou.....not much of a con ... you get what you pay for

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fans, but not for the price anymore....

Pros: Great product. Moves good amount of air, even with a fan controller. Have had 6 of these running in my rig for just about 3 years!

Cons: 2 died right around the 2 year mark. But then again, I do have my machine running almost all the time. Even with a fan controller to bring the speed down these are still noisy.

Other Thoughts: Have a Thermaltake Element S, 3 case fans and 2 for a push/pull design on a Corsair H50. 2 died and a good thing I bought some extra when these were $8.49! I don't think they are that great for the price being sold for now.

3 out of 5 eggsStill Kickin'

Pros: Push a lot of air, last relatively long, and WERE quite cheap at the time.

Cons: One has developed a slight whine to it. Cleaning and re-lubing helped a bit. Wouldn't recommend these fans at the current price. Overall, they're quite loud. Even with a fan controller at 40-50%.

Other Thoughts: I bought 4 of these almost 4 years ago to the tune of about $11 each. Even at that price I don't feel these were worth it.

3 out of 5 eggsNoisy but moves air

Pros: Using 2 of these in a Cooler Master CM690 for the almost the past 3 years OFF and ON while gaming in the hot summer. Neither have died yet. They're usually on only about 1-2 hours 4 times a week for the summer months. Total use of about year.

Cons: Expensive and very noisy. Even with the case (CM690) on the floor about 4 feet from me, these fans are loud. Both are place on the bottom of the case. I suggest a fan controller which makes this setup even more expensive.

1 out of 5 eggsSlap

Pros: Moved quite a bit of air when they worked.

Cons: Sleeve bearing...
Lifetime of ALL slipstream fans seems to be total garbage.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two of these from Newegg for use in a push/pull setup on a Venomous X cooler and I was hoping to get at least two years out of them. Unfortunately, one of them died after 6 months, ruining my precious push/pull configuration. The other died just after 12 months and I resorted to using an older Aerocool case fan as a backup until I decided to purchase new fans. Now I have two Corsair SP120HP fans in a push/pull configuration that cool better than these sleeve bearing *insert colorful metaphor here* fans ever did.

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre lifespan

Pros: Good airflow and good range of PWM speeds. Quiet at idle.

Cons: Short lifespan. Consider that cheap sleeve bearing fans are rated at minimum 30k hours and typical is 50-100k hours for high grade fans with ball or rifle bearings. There are less than 9k hours in a year. Bearing failure is clear as day after a bit over 2 years of service. Add to that the fact that much of the time was spent at lower speed and in continuous smooth running, which is easier on electric motors. Should have seen 5-6 years easily.

2 out of 5 eggsFans shouldn't die this fast

Pros: I purchased two of these fans and put them in the front of a HAF 922 to suck air in. They did their job well for a year.

Cons: Extremely loud and died after 1 year.

Other Thoughts: - I understood I was buying loud fans, not really an issue since I usually have headphones on. However, the noise wasn't just produced from the blades. I could also hear the sleeve bearing ticking like a time bomb.

- I run my machine about 30-35 hours per week. These fans only lasted 1 year. One of the fans completely seized up, the other one tries to spin but surges on and off. I tested both in another system on a different PS and get the same results.

Stay away from these fans.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful fans

Pros: Really powerful and work great running around 50-60% power. I have them set to only go faster if the heat at certain points of the system hit high levels.

Cons: Really loud when running at full speed but they are pushing a ton of air.

Other Thoughts: Recommend using these with a fan controller as they are loud when running full speed but at lower speeds they still push more air than most when they are maxed out.

1 out of 5 eggsFans seize after a year

Pros: I bought four of these fans, and when initially installed they worked great. Those suckers moved air like a champ.

Cons: I currently have only one fan working, the other three have seized. I confirmed this by switching the fan plugs around - all my motherboard fan ports work perfectly, the fans have just seized.

Other Thoughts: I emailed scythe support a month ago and received no reply. American support for scythe has apparently moved to Taiwan. They provided a foreign number to call (thanks, but no thanks) or an email address.

No support + defective products = will not buy from this company again.
