4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Quiet. Keeps my CPU cooler than a H60 water cooler. Can almost use this without the fan, just as a passive cooler.

Cons: Needs stand-offs to screw into the backplate, then screw the heatsink down to the stand-offs. It's rather difficult to have to hold the back plate on while you try to screw the heat sink on without being able to hold the heat sink, because you don't have 3 hands. The double sided tape helped...the first time. But I had to RMA my mobo and the tape was useless after I had to pull off the backplate. Besides, seriously, TAPE?! The best thing the designers could come up with...was tape?!

Other Thoughts: Great for an air cooler! -1 egg for the obvious design flaw. Once again...TAPE?! SERIOUSLY?!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works really well on an i7 4770. Keeps temps nice and cool. Hopefully the one you purchase will have fan bearings that last longer than mine. Mine makes noise now after a year.

Cons: It really has worked great. I just expected it to last longer than it has. After a year of owning it the fan has started to make a noise. I assume it's a bearing in the fan that is starting to go out. I have stock intel coolers that are much older and don't make bearing noise.

Other Thoughts: Other than it making noise now due to the fan it really is a nice cpu cooler. For the price though it should last longer than a year.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent cooler

Pros: Cools well
Sturdy mounting hardware

Cons: Very large!

Other Thoughts: This thing BARELY fits in my case (Thermaltake V4). I think I've got about 1/4 inch to spare. In my case, I had to flex the backplate and the frontbracket while trying to tighten the screws with the provided long-handled allen wrench, while the cooler fins do their best to be in the way at all times, lol. Due to the pressure required to flex these pieces and hte angles you have to use, it would be very ewasy to cross-thread and strip a screw or post, and no spares are provided, but if you get it right, it is a very secure mount. Just be careful and take your time.

3 out of 5 eggsScrews stripped!

Pros: The fan looks amazing and seems to cool the computer well. I didn't use the thermal paste included but instead opted for some Arctic 5. Right now everything seems to be ok BUT during the installation one of the screws that came with the kit became stripped and I was unable to secure it completely.

Cons: Stripped screw! This issue could have been easily avoided if they would have just included screws of a slightly higher quality or even a few extra screws in case something happens like this. The tool that they included also seems like it could have been shaped a little differently so that you could install the screws more easily instead of having to do each one at an angle to avoid the massive heatsink.

Other Thoughts: A better tool for installation and higher quality screws or a few spare screws and this fan would be perfect and and I would have given 5 stars. I just hope that it still cools my CPU well without that one screw being seated completely.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Just awesome. Very pleased. 11*C idle and 38*C Max on Skyrim with 125+ mods installed. Room temp is approximately 72*F.

Cons: The mounting bracket was a B*#$@ to install. -1 Star for for installation.

Other Thoughts: CPU - AMD 8350 Black @ 4.0 Ghz
GPU - EVGA GTX 770 04G-P4-3776-KR
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
MEM - CORSAIR Vengeance 2 x 8 GB DDR3 1866 Timing: 10-11-10-30 Cas Latency: 10
Power Supply - Corsair HX850 850W

1 out of 5 eggsToo massive, broke my i7 1155 socket

Pros: Cooling performance was amazing, it seemed like the fan was always spinning at it's minimal RPM. Very happy with this aspect of the product.

Installation was cumbersome, the mounting screws were hard to reach, basically needed to remove the entire motherboard to access them. Tough, but it was expected.

Cons: The pros are irrelevant , since the mass of this cooler actually ended up damaging my i7 1155 CPU socket. The PC was never dropped or mishandled, I was always extremely careful with it. The cantilever action appears to have been just too much, and damaged the pin on the CPU. I was able to recover the parts by simply removing and reinstalling them. But tonight, it's dead, and I think I've lost my motherboard. Hopefully the CPU is still good.

The design is simply too large for a vertically mounted MB and CPU. It's totally impractical.

Other Thoughts: I can't recommend this to anyone with a 1155 socket, perhaps it works better with other styles.

1 out of 5 eggsZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

Pros: Quite under normal operation. Keeps my i7 4770k under 63 deg C at 4.3GHz 7 1.24v.

Cons: This is my 2nd review, don't know how to edit my first. Great cooler, but the warranty is worthless. 3 emails and an online RMA request have gone without answer. Phone number on Newegg's website for this product is disconnected. I'm dropping what I would have rated a 5 egg down to 1 egg.

Other Thoughts: I'm just building my next system. There are plenty of competitors. I ordered one from a different vendor. I would still like this one replaced, but if I don't hear back soon I'll order a replacement from a different vendor and will never buy another product from Zalman again.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Cooler for the Cost

Pros: Keeps i7 4820K at 22C and 32C under load.
- Real easy to install on Socket 2011 Motherboard due to not having to install the custom bracket.
- I have access to all 8 Ram slots on motherboard and PCI X16 Slots.

Cons: I didn't order this sooner.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks great, but making noise

Pros: Works great! Who needs Water Cooling?! I've got an i7 4770k 3.5Ghz clocked to 4.3Ghz and the highest I see under load is about 54 deg C. That's with all 8 bars on my desktop MIP meter completely lit up. My fan controller is set to hit 100% at 60 deg but it gets up to around 75% and never has to go to the full 100%. My workloads don't last more than 5 minutes at peak load at best. And it looks cool thru the side window! Very happy with this. ... other than.... (see cons)

Cons: 1) It rattles like it's out of balance.
2) I can't get Zalman to respond to my emails for getting service.
3) Rebate took 4 months to get ... no kidding.

Other Thoughts: If not for the rattling, I'd have given this 5 eggs. Things do go wrong, I realize that. But that's where you find out who runs a good company and who doesn't. Due to the fact that they have not replied at all to my emails inquiring on how I might get this replaced without being down for weeks, They're now down to 3 eggs.

3 out of 5 eggsLooks good, cools well, but install is a nightmare

Pros: This thing is a beast, but actually slightly shorter than many of the big brick coolers that many people use. It certainly looks better than most of those as well, especially with the black fins. The LED is nice, it's not overly bright so it mostly just illuminates the fan, which is fine. It looks nice, but it's not necessary.

My cooling has been decent, even with a problem resulting from the install. The CPU has stayed at a decent temp.

Cons: Unfortunately as much as I like the look and performance of the cooler, the installation was such a nightmare I'm not sure I'd use this again. I installed this on an AM3+ socket for an FX8350. The first problem I had is that the feet for the AM3+ socket in the manual shows the feet bent downwards. I think this is how they're supposed to be, but unfortunately mine was completely flat. Given the problems I had later during the install, I have a feeling they definitely should have been bent downwards.

The first problem is the back bracket has to be assembled. This involves putting spacers on the end of the feetfor your socket and then sliding receivers in to those. Unfortunately there's nothing holding those receivers in place and they were constantly falling out as I was trying to work with the thing. If I had 3 hands this would have been fine, but I don't and this made things very frustrating.

To add to my frustrations was the issue with the feet used on the cooler. Since they weren't bent as shown in the manual the screws weren't even close to the receivers they needed to screw in to. I eventually had to take the thing out to the garage and at least bend the feet a little with a pliers just to get them close. Even then I had to apply a ton of pressure that didn't feel remotely good for the processor or motherboard just to get those screws in to the receivers and hold them there to screw them in far enough to hold. To then get the screws in all the way I had to use a wrench on the receivers on the back to screw them in. You'd think they could have notched the backplate to make this unnecessary but apparently not. All in all this was yet another process where 3 or 4 arms/hands felt necessary.

Then, to add insult to injury the thing is facing the wrong way. I followed the directions exactly, placed it so the correct fins and fans are facing the back of the case exactly as the directions stated. The problem is the directions said to place the thinner heatsink towards the rear of the case, but the picture showed it the opposite way. To make it more confusing the picture shows the fan mounted against the thinner heatsink while mine has it mounted against the fatter heatsink. But either way, the pic did show the fan mounted against the heatsink facing the front of the case, and blowing towards the heatsink it was not mounted on. Since this seemed to agree with mounting it with the thinner heatsink towards the cases back I chose to go with that as the text and fan placement in the picture indicated. Only thing that didn't agree was the pic showed the fat heatsink at the rear of the case, but everything else about it was wrong.

Well, apparently half the picture and the text was wrong, cause as it turns out the fan is now blowing towards the front of the case, which is generally not a good idea. So now I have the dilemma of reusing this when I take it off to fix this problem, or simply replacing it rather than go through this nightmare

Other Thoughts: I like the look of the cooler and the performance is good even installed backwards, but the install process was just so bad I couldn't recommend this. Maybe if the feet were bent that might make things more tolerable, but even without that problem the install was still a huge pain. Then you get the installation directions contradicting itself to the point I now have to uninstall and reinstall (or replace) the cooler to get it installed properly and this whole thing was a huge mess.

I want to like the cooler, but unfortunately the installation process is not worth the result.
