The Zalman CNPS9900 MAX-B combines some of the most advanced technologies in the market used for CPU coolers to create powerful cooling performance. The CPU cooler utilizes composite heatpipe which is 50% more effective in transferring heat compared to ordinary heatpipes. Combined with a whisper-quiet 135 mm blue LED PWM fan positioned between two massive nickel plated pure copper heatsinks, the CNPS9900 MAX-B is more than enough to satisfy overclockers and users who are looking for ultra powerful cooling performance in silent operation.

  • newegg Powerful Cooling Performance [Qmax: 300W] Optimally designed pure copper fins effectively disperse heat away from the CPU via composite heatpipes, while the high capacity 135mm fan quickly cools the heatsink for stable operation of high performance CPUs.
  • newegg Ultra Quiet 135mm Blue/Red LED Fan An ultra quiet 135mm fan is incorporated for minimized noise while the blue LEDs heighten the cool aesthetics.
  • newegg Black-Pearl Nickel Plating The entire copper heatsink of CNPS9900 MAX-B is ‘Black-Pearl’ Nickel Plated for long-term corrosion resistance, while the deep ‘Black-Pearl’ tone along with the high intensity blue LEDs reinforce its powerful aesthetics.
  • newegg PWM Fan Speed Control The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fan automatically adjusts fan speed according to the CPU’s temperature, while the included Resistor Cable (RC7P) provides the option of reducing the input voltage for overall reduction of fan speed and noise.
  • newegg High Performance Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG2 The included all new high performance thermal grease ZM-STG2 maximizes heat transfer from the CPU to the base of CPU cooler for intensified cooling performance.
  • newegg Versatile Compatibility The Zalman CNPS9900 MAX-B accommodates a broad range of CPU sockets including Intel LGA1156 / 1366 / 775 and AMD AM3 / AM2+ / AM2.

5 out of 5 eggsZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

Pros: Does it job and keep the CPU cool.
Keep my i5 4670k not clock at 27c idle and while gamming i jump to 34-36c. You don't get CUT anymore.

Cons: back plate when putting on MB. barely went into Asus Maximus VI GENE.

Other Thoughts: i'm running 3 intake fans n 3 exhaust fan.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks Beautiful

Pros: This thing looks amazing. I put in a rig I built for my friend and the case has a window and i don't know what it is but the way that it looks through that window is just awe inspiring. Cooling performance is, as expected, great. couldn't really ask for more.

Cons: The only reason i took off an egg is because of the difficulty i had in attaching the cooler. Not sure if it clearly says to do this in the instructions but attach it to your mobo OUTSIDE of the case - it makes things WAY easier. The way the backplate is designed and how the cooler attached to said backplate isn't designed nearly as well as another cooler like the NHD-14.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat fan

Pros: Runs efficiently and nearly silent, looks good.

Cons: Install is excruciating. My MB utilizes the Intel 775 socket and it took 1.5 hours to attach, would have gone quicker if I had extra set of hands. The nuts used on the backplane are not attached (freespinning) and made it difficult to screw it together. The hex head screws are poorly placed, not easy to get an angle on them. The hex driver that came with it stripped almost instantly making it useless, better have a set of your own tools to do the job.

Other Thoughts: I understand Zalman needs to accomodate the multitude of socket configurations on the market but that does not excuse poor mounting design.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It might be a great CPU fan, from past expertness it is a great CPU fan.

Cons: Have the parts for mounting it, they were missing and the paste that came with it was hard as a rock. It must of been on the shelf a long time.

Other Thoughts: If all the parts were there, it probably been a great CPU fan. You guys are slipping if you don`t do insurance that everything is there. There is know excuse for this.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Cooler

Pros: Keep my Core i5 at 31C idle and load at 40 range. I think this thing can be as good as water cooling and no need to worry about water being leak out.

Cons: This thing is huge and heavy. Make sure your case will fit this thing. I have a mid size tower and it can barely fit.

Installation is a bit messy and not very clear. you have to spend some time to get familiar with the instruction before actually working on it.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy it!

Pros: Maximum cooling. I ran prime 95 for 24 hours. Max temp on my fx8350 was 113f. Within seconds of stopping prime my temp was in the 50's. This is with stock clocking. Fan is quiet even without the resistor. Looks slick. The surface finish on the heat block is so fine, tinting with thermal paste had no effect. Its a mirror polish. All copper construction. Very sturdy.

Cons: Barely fits in my rosewill challenger, but it does fit. Check clearance against the listed size! It's kind of expensive if it's not on sale (mine was $25 after the rebate), but that much copper isn't going to be cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsGorgeous

Pros: Excellent heat transfer with Arctic MX-2 thermal compound (see Other Thoughts). The blue glow looks much better than I expected since it's most noticeable on the outer edges of the fan, giving it a blue ring. Feels solid once mounted.

Cons: The installation manual desperately needs to be rewritten. There's so many ways to make mistakes because of bad diagrams and misleading directions.

Other Thoughts: i5-3570k OC'd to 4.3ghz yields temperatures that barely touch 71C under 100% load across all four cores. 60% load is around 55C. Idles at 15-30C when cpu underclocks itself to 1.6ghz.

Make sure your case can hold this monster. Ive got it in a Cooler Master HAF XB.

3 out of 5 eggsAMD Nightmare!

Pros: Looks pretty. 84f idle, 110f playing TitanFall with FX6300@4Ghz on medium settings. ASUS GTX 650 Ti gets up to 125f sometimes. I didn't over apply or reuse the thermal compound either. It came with a tube of compound but, I sprung for non-conductive Arctic MX-2.

Cons: The plastic support cube went in the garbage. Fan's rpm limiter too. Don't bother using it for AMD. It will make the screws unable to fasten unless you bend something, FYI don't bend anything. The screws will strip very easily.

Other Thoughts: Not much of a difference other then looks. The stock AMD cooler was pretty much on par with this. If you put it on and it doesn't fit, DON'T reuse the compound! Clean and add new!

4 out of 5 eggsTemperature reduced for 15°C compared with stock fan

Pros: i7 4770k, 100% load for 15 mins, RC7P NOT connected, fan 1400 rpm, 56-59 °C

Cons: Too big, too hard to install. No room for the wrench to rotate to fasten the bolt, at least for my mother board ASUS Z87-Pro. Take one egg off.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler! Rebate Stinks

Pros: Excellent Cooler. Looks good. Fits in my mid-tower. Keeps my i7 much cooler than Intel's stock (4-20 deg C cooler, idle-load). Quiet, but not as quiet as expected. With all fans in my box at 25%, this makes the most noise. Quieter at 100% than other fans. No noticeable difference in proc temps at idle and maybe a 2-4 deg difference at moderate load from my base 3.5GHz vs. 4GHz overclock speed. I considered the closed water cooling but ratings I read showed this was as good as or better than the "single size" cooler, meaning one fan or 2 in a push/pull config. My box isn't big enough for the double size cooler, which likely would outperform this cooler. However, my experience seems to match the reviews. This is plenty adequate for my i7 overclocked to 4GHz running moderate loads. And it looks cool! Mine has a blue LED and is visible through the window on the side of my box.

Cons: While still very quiet, not as quiet as expected compared to other fans in my box.
THE REBATE STINKS! The unit is a little on the pricey side to start. Apparently I sent them the order from Newegg vs. the Invoice. Info on the two is exactly the same and I had to send them the UPC code so not sure why it matters. The help (presumably Chinese based on accent) was helpless and really couldn't care less about customer sat. The extra work now for resubmission is not worth my time. I love the product. I do not like rebates. Let it be known to Zalman and others that there are other choices and I am willing to pay more for a comparable product without rebate. And having my rebate rejected DOES affect my overall satisfaction with the product, especially given that this cooler is a little on the pricey side to start with.

Other Thoughts: Given their are other choices out there for the same or cheaper prices, the frustration of the rebate would be enough to motivate me toward a competitor product. I was "enticed" by the rebate in making my decision. The rebate was rejected because I sent the Order Confirmation from Newegg instead of the Invoice. I also sent my UPC from the box so not sure why they have to be so picky.
