3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Does what it is designed to do, the red lights are a nice touch to my black case.

Cons: Loud. Avoid if you do not want a lot of noise. I put 2 for air intake and regretted not spending a few extra dollars on a quieter fan. (But how can i pass on a $2 fan).

4 out of 5 eggsGood fans, but can be loud

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: - Nice red glow
- Pushes lots of air
- Comes with adapters

Cons: - Can be VERY loud if you try to make it push air into the case

Other Thoughts: I learned that this fan can be very loud if you try to push air into the case. I decided to keep these fans (I bought two) to point outwards and have my other ones do the inward job. They have a nice red glow to them as well.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Quiet

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: The fan moves air well. The LED's look cool.

Cons: I don't know where they come from calling this a quiet fan. At lower RPM's maybe? At full air flow It's not quiet. It's not nearly quiet. It is loud.
I expect they had a focus group and found people want a quiet fan. So they added that to the marketing. But they forgot to send the memo to engineering.

3 out of 5 eggsMoves air but too much noise

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: This thing moves quite a bit of air and I personally liked the red LEDs that were provided with this fan. Also having the dark tinted blades made the LEDs more of the focus and not the spinning blade, also a personal like of mine.

Cons: A bit on the loud side for my tastes. I had it mounted on the side window as intake for my GPU. I thought that the location may have been an issue, but tried an old Antec red LED that I pulled from another case and it was like night and day.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Fans

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Very fair price (under 10 bucks) when on sale. High airflow w/ respectable pressure. Soft & very red (not orange like some) LEDs. Quieter and greater CFM than the Antec Tri-cool fans I replaced.

(The only quieter 2000rpm, 80+ CFM fan I've personally used is a NoiseBlocker E-Loop, which costs 3- to 4-times as much as one of these.)

Cons: Some people may consider these a little noisy at full-blast (2000rpm), but it should be expected at that speed and airflow level. The sound is not from the fan's motor, but from the blades moving so much air.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't be happier with the price/performance ratio these fans offer.

I purchased 3 of these to use in an older Phenom II & HD4890 system within an Antec 300 case -- two intake, one rear-exhaust -- in combination with the stock Antec 140mm 'Tri-cool' mounted at the top of the case (set to low-speed). The side-panel has been modified with a sealed window installed, so the stock side-intake (or vent) no longer exists. The 2 intake fans manage to pull plenty of air into the case to keep its components cool, and the rear one pulls most of the hot air right out the back.

4 out of 5 eggsGood aftermarket cooling solution

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Fan is well made. Blades are not at all flimsy. Cowling is stiff. Wires are as good as any I've ever seen on a 120mm fan.

Comes with the 3pin to male/female molex adapter. Believe it or not, I've ordered fans in the past that don't.

Works perfectly with my NZXT fan controller.

I'm always biased towards this point because cooling noise doesn't bother me, but these fans run very quiet, even at full speed.

Definitely better than the fans they replaced. The old fans were Cooler Master fans out of a Cooler Master case which my controller reported to run at 1200RPM. My controller reports these running up to 2000RPM.

Even at 800RPM these fans move enough air to keep my tower frosty. It typically runs about 15 degrees above ambient temperature even when gaming.

Cons: LEDs are pretty weak to be honest. I wouldn't have knocked an egg off if it weren't for the fact I ordered LED fans to bathe the inside of my case in a red glow.

A minor con, but silver screws? Really? Would it have broken the bank to toss in black screws to compliment the black fan cowling and Cooler Master's almost entirely black line of cases?

Other Thoughts: I bought enough of these to totally revamp the cooling in my case, so whatever I've said up to this point has applied to the seven fans I ordered.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bright enough

2 out of 5 eggsNoise Rating Suspect

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: Rated at 19dBA. Compared to 6 other fans, 2 models/manufacturer fans that are also rated at 19dBA. This is SIGNIFICANTLY louder! I have 2 of these and they are both way louder. To loud for the desired application.

Other Thoughts: Don't believe these are really 19dBA after comparing to other 19dBA fans. Very disappointed.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Good airflow. Very nice looking lights. Comes with 3 pin power to molex adapter.

Cons: A little loud when plugged into 3 pin power but pretty loud when plugged into molex power.

Other Thoughts: I've read almost all the reviews on these fans and some complaints were justified while others weren't. First off the biggest complaint was the noise and yes that's legit. When plugged into a 3 pin power connector on the motherboard they are about as loud as case fans from back in the Windows 98 days. This is noise from the fan itself as in the whir of the motor and not any case vibration or air flow noise. Next is the luminance of the lights. The best way I can describe it is to take your standard red laser mouse and flip it over and look at it. That's the exact luminance and color of this fan. So no it's not going to light up the inside of your case. Another issue I read about was how difficult it was to screw in the screws which I really didn't have any problem with. These are standard case fans that take a little bit of force to screw in as is normal with all case fans I've dealt with.

Overall I'm pretty happy. I've got three of these running. They look fantastic to me because I wanted a low key brightness and the airflow is impressive. While I can tolerate the noise I do have to dock an egg because I don't think it's fair to say that it's 19db.
