Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound does this with three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. It's optimized for use between modern high-power CPUs and high-performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions. This 3.5-gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates.

Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

  • newegg 99.9% Pure Silver The Arctic Silver 5 uses three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer.
  • newegg High Density The Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally conductive filler by weight. The thermally-enhanced ceramic particles including micronized silver, sub-micron zinc oxide, aluminum oxide and boron nitride particles improve the compound's performance and long-term stability.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat stuff but!

Pros: -This stuff works excellently.

Cons: -There are better out there now.

Other Thoughts: I now use Prolimitech PK-1 since it's now officially the best.

Arctic Silver 5 was my go to for a long time until they were beaten... and I ran out. :D
Hopefully they come up with something as great as PK-1 so I can go back to them.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best thermal paste around

Pros: 1. This compound is definitely better than the stuff you get with cpu coolers. This is actually my second syringe of A.S. (I used half of the other one, which I bought off of Amaz()n (don't understand why Newegg blocks their competitor's name) for a higher price, but the syringe got lost somewhere and I needed this because I'm building a new rig).

2. You really can't complain. Temps were maybe 5-7C cooler using this compound on my old 90W Athlon 64 x2 4200+ (OCed to 3GHz) so, instead of 60C tops with a CoolerMaster Hyper 135+ and included goop, it was around 53-55C with Arctic Silver.

3. This was my first product that I ever bought off of Newegg, and the shipping was FABULOUS. Arrived in 2 days! and the UPS man personally came upstairs to the 3rd floor where my apartment is and got my SIGNATURE! (I live in a bad neighborhood, so this was great, because most of the packages which *some* deliverymen tend to leave in the lobby tend to get stolen).

I will DEFINITELY be shopping here more often :D

Cons: It doesn't make me sammiches

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

Pros: A dab'll do ya. Rice sized drop on heatspreader dropped my temps vs included cooler 25c.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Comparing temps between a liquid cooling (corsair) unit and the stock intel hsf is kinda like comparing apples vs oranges, but the temp diff is big.
I5 3570 @ 4.4GHz (still lidded) dropped from nearly 50c/75c (idle/max) to 28c/55c. Glad the cooler dropped the temp drastically - I had considered delidding and voiding my warrany before the change, now I'm cool (pun intended) with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done...

Pros: High thermal transfer efficiency, tidy and convenient dispenser

Cons: Does not automatically come with CPU/GPU boxes...

Other Thoughts: Not much to say that has not been one way or another. Have used this paste for years--always consistent and efficient. More so than the ceramic and other composite pastes.

5 out of 5 eggsBennie

Pros: ALWAYS THE BEST keeps temps low thanks.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: The trick to using any paste is use a tiny amount in the center of the cpu about the size of a pea . Thats all you need don't over do it or your temps will be high.

5 out of 5 eggsEnough for Average person

Pros: there is plenty of material in the syringe for a lot of CPU's and other components that need it. It spreads easily into a very thin layer so you don't waste much on an application and only a small quantity stays on finger tip

Cons: price but you have to pay it if want the best out there

5 out of 5 eggsLove this stuff

Pros: This is the only thermal paste I use. I started using it a few years back when I started building computers. When I first replaced the stock cooler on my P4 with HT I used this and I've been using it ever since. This paste gives excellent cooling performance when applied correctly. I like the grain of rice/ pea method depending on the size of the chip. Much better thermal conductivity than the stuff they put on heatsinks for you from the factory.

Cons: Small tube for the price. I can easily get 10-15 applications out of one tube, but for $12 it just doesn't look like a lot.

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t with an Antec Kuhler 620 OC to 3.75Ghz and I idle around 30C and max at 50C in Prime 95
