5 out of 5 eggsGood quality, cheap price.

Pros: I love the touch pad compared to others. The texture is a very nice add. Keyboard touch is nice. Screen looks good. Batter life seems good. I am not a tablet fan so i wanted an updated laptop for email, surfing, etc. while in my recliner and this fits the bill quite nicely. MS Office seems to run without issue as well. I admit, I have already replaced the drive with SSD so it wasn't quite the cheap laptop anymore. I will also spend a few more bucks to add memory, but that is cheap.

Cons: I dislike the USB port next to the power connector, but that isn't a show stopped since I don't live with a device attached.

Other Thoughts: No back-lit keyboard option, that would have been a wonderful bonus. I just assumed from previous laptops I have had. I hate Windows 8 metro so I installed Classic Shell so now I have the Windows 7 feel again.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns great for a cheap laptop

Pros: Bought this model on black Friday. I've had zero issues with it. Upgraded the HD to a Seagate 830 128GB SSD and the cold boot time is less than 10 seconds. Windows 8 Pro upgrade went fine. Added a Crucial 1.5v 4GB DIMM to the free slot too. Battery life is 5+ hours. Lenovo Recovery software works fine as long as the partition size hasn't changed, otherwise use something like Acronis True Image 2013.

Cons: Heavier than my iPad. No recovery media, so make a backup, create a boot USB drive or CD, and / or use the recovery partition.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy for the price $319

Pros: Looks to be well put together. Like the keyboard. The letters and buttons stand out and makes typing easier.

Used all the typical media YouTube, Netflix, etc. and all played just fine. Have not had time to try apps.

Fan is quiet.

Cons: I prefer headset plug in front of the Laptop but that's just me. Located on side.

Other Thoughts: This computer took 30 seconds from the time I hit the power button to the windows 8 screen on the computer. I was considering returning before I opened it up after reading the first review. Glad I didn't.

Power cord has a 90 degree plug that would get in the way of the USB if it faced you but all you have to do is turn it away from you and typical size USBs goes in fine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Cheap Laptop---if your running Windows 7...

Pros: Good quality build, very nice keyboard, quiet, faster than you might think with the new E1 processor(WEI 3.6), two usb 3.0 ports.

Cons: Windows 8 that shipped with this, fingerprint magnet, poorly placed usb 2.0 port too close to the charger cord port makes it almost impossible to use while charging.

Other Thoughts: I got this in and immediately ran Windows Update, only to have the updates all but cripple the G585. It would take over five minutes to start up, and the laptop was all but useless with every app taking forever to open and run. Lenovo doesn't include any recovery software with this one, so I couldn't burn any backup discs to see if that would fix it's woes.

This left me with one choice, use a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate I had lying around....and that fixed all it's ills.
As a matter of fact, this runs great with Ultimate, much faster and better than I thought it could. I've read horror stories about the new E1's being dogs, but this is almost as fast and usable as my i3 equipped work computer that cost me nearly twice as much.

Everything runs great except for serious number crunching apps, but you shouldn't be looking at this price point if that's what you need anyway. Everything from youtube at 1080p to movies to music plays back without a hitch, nice.

All told, I highly recommend the G585, especially if you have a spare copy of Windows 7 to install on it, it's vastly superior with it than 8 across the board. Beware of these low cost computers that include 8 as standard, they aren't really up to the task of running it at it's peak, and I honestly can't blame Windows for this. 8 is a great OS, it just needs some extra power(and a touch screen)to be at it's best.
