Pros: 5 words
This laptop is EASILY worth 900 bucks for what it's capable of doing.
With this laptop, it shows why ill never go back to Best buy or Walmart for a laptop.

-Gaming experience

Cons: 1 con.
Battery life.
You get 2-3 hours at most on this which is a major downer.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a bargain!

Pros: FINALLY, i've been waiting for the day i could buy a laptop that is very budget friendly and yet extremely capable for $500.
Quad-core, 6GB ram, real graphics core, 750GB HDD for $500?? No wonder this thing sold out.
Runs Starcraft II just fine on medium settings. Haven't tested other games.
Handles Photoshop CS5 well.
Hardly ever gets warm, keeps very very cool.
AMD has built in options for power control in the Catalyst control center. Allows for the control of the CPU speed while on battery and plugged in. Very nice feature for Llano.

Cons: No USB 3.0
Slow 5400RPM HDD, but it was super cheap. How much more could you really expect. I'm not complaining! Just putting it out there for others to see.

The track pad really is in a bad place. It should have been slightly off to the right. I'm constantly hitting it while typing. That thumb hangs over just enough to hit it.

Other Thoughts: The color really isn't silver. It's not as bad as the pictures on newegg but do know. It is a kind of purple silver.

Be sure to eliminate all that bloatware bullsh*t!

5 out of 5 eggsGood laptop

Pros: I can play Oblivion, League of legends, Minecraft, Call of duty 2, and World of warcraft with no lag. It is very fast and has a lot of space in the hard drive. It has a fast start up and you just start up the computer out of the box and it will work in 10 minutes.

Cons: Keyboard can be kind of loud. The trackpad buttons are kind of far apart and its kind of stiff.

Other Thoughts: Just wish the keyboard and track pad is not so stiff. Comes with a built in microphone and webcam.

5 out of 5 eggsLenovo Idea pad Z575

Pros: This laptop has a very nice design, sleek and smooth. On to the techy part.
out of the box to pressing the power button was less then 15 minutes.
the CPU is pretty quick, 1.4 x 4.
6 gigs of ddr1333 ram.
the hard drive spin rate is slow, I did a back up of 24.5g and is was finished in 30 minutes.
the wireless is B/G/N, most router have A/G/N.
video is very nice. able to play LOTRO with out a issue.
The sound is clear with a little bit of bass.

I have a hp probook 6550b. the lenovo smokes the HP. the HP was a 1300 dollar laptop. the lenovo is 529 (699) good deal to me.

Cons: the wireless is not A/G/N.

Other Thoughts: the laptop is a copperish color.

5 out of 5 eggsjury in

Pros: nice chiclet keyboard similar to ThinkPad Edge laptops, excellent screen with wide viewing angles, reasonably fast boot, appears to be well built & structurally sound

Cons: lenovo dial in support is ht-or-miss (online chat support is pretty good)

Other Thoughts: purchased thi for parents. had to immediately RMA due to chipset issue (laptop thought spacebar was stuck). NewEgg extremely helpful and receive replacement within 8-9 days of initial RMA submission. Lenovo online chat was also helpful, as was one of two dial-in technical support personnel. The other was useless and wait times can be 5-10 minutes. Initial review was placed since only other review at time was "its not pink". Unfortunately replacement unit was shipped to parents who travelled to a different state. Based on experience with oiginal laptop I can say that I was impressed by the Z575's screen (extremely wide viewing angles and vibrant colors). The chiclet keyboard reminds me of wife's ThinkPad Edge, which is amazing. The trackpad is large, but has a bumpy texture that might take some getting used to. I cannot comment on resposiveness due to chipset issue which ocassionally froze cursor on screen. Rocker-style mouse button is nice, but some prefer dedicated left/right buttons

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Performs very well under almost every load. More on that in the cons. Otherwise, I am extremely satisfied with this laptop. It can play TF2 decently well while installing programs into Windows XP Mode.

Cons: I did a clean install of Windows as soon as I received it and let Windows use its own wireless driver. Bad idea. It's blue screened four times in the past four days with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (3) and UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP when I was installing a remote printer over wireless through a VPN. Installing the proper drivers from Lenovo's website quickly fixed the problem.

Other Thoughts: Definitely a good buy. Outperforms Sandy Bridge by a very large amount despite the lower clock speeds. No matter what I'm doing on it, it always manages to keep itself under 70 degrees Celsius. If you're considering something else too, get this!

5 out of 5 eggsNear perfection

Pros: Cpu- Its pretty quick, i havent done anything really to streach out its legs but it works well. Much quicker than my old SU7300

Media Keys- They really are just great. You get one for mute, volume up and down, and 2 lenovo specific keys for the fan and video/audio optimization.

HDD - Its not insanely quick but for a laptop its pretty good. Holds about 700 Gb total. Not sure if theres a big hidden partion or something thats lowering the Gb. But 700 is more than enough for me.

Display - Its bright and clear.

Keyboard - Pretty good i cant really complain about any of the keys in specific. The keys also have slight creases in them so they conform to the touch very well. Over all a great keyboard for typing.

Speakers - AMAZING, honestly i was hoping for just decent speakers. But these surpassed every hope i had for them. There LOUD , very loud actually . Not just loud though , but clear as well . very good.

Software- There was a little bit of bloatware AKA mcafee

Cons: Battery life - The battery life is pretty bad for me. I get about 3 hours . If i tried im sure i could manage 4 hours. On my old laptop i got 8 hours , But it had a low voltage proccesor and an 8 cell battery.

Other Thoughts: Uh, where the heck are the drivers for the 6520G ? I cant find them anywhere on the amd site. And when i google it There arnt any results. Am i the only one that has this problem? The site has drivers for every other apu they produce. But why not the a6-3400M?
If anyone knows where to find them please tell me.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Lightweight, yet sturdy build
-Extra wide screen
-Excellent graphics quality

Cons: -VERY noisy keyboard
-Touchpad offset (though this seems to be the style these days)
-Keys too widely spaced to use comfortably with small hands
-Left/Right-click located too far down

Other Thoughts: I wish someone had mentioned how terribly noisy the keyboard is; this is almost a deal-breaker for me. I can't imagine trying to bring this laptop on a commute or to a library. The keyboard also seems to be made for larger hands than mine which make typing difficult, especially as the touchpad (particularly left- and right- click) is located too far down to reach with one's hands at the usual typing position. The offset position of the touchpad is an annoyance to someone used to having it in the center as well. As I expect to be using a mouse when not traveling, I can overlook that. However, that plus the keyboard problems are enough to subtract an egg from this review (since I can't do halves.)
The price for the specs was fantastic, however. It runs fast and looks fantastic, and it is undoubtedly a good-quality machine. If you have medium-to-large hands and don't mind a storm of keys clonking as you type, this computer is definitely worth it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Extra wide track pad
Best keyboard on a loptop I have seen
gunmetal color is definately "in" (wish my stainless steel fridge looked this good)
non keyboard function buttons look amazing +quality
little bloatware
HD partitioned 29gigs for OS install and 654gigs for storage

Cons: bloatware - google chrome and McAfee
No 5 in 1 card reader *edit found it, lol
dvd drive is flimsyish
not a matte screen so it does not do as well in bright areas

Other Thoughts: Runs minecraft on far render and max textures with high fps.
Windows Experience: Processor 6.6, Memory 7.1, Graphics 5.9, Gaming Graphics 6.5, Primary Hard Disk 6.6
AMD Llano, nuff said.
Have not tried dual boot of Ubuntu yet but its on my list

3 out of 5 eggsJury is out

Pros: Structurally sound. Excellent screen. Very nice keyboard. Fast boot-up.

Cons: Had to RMA unit. Lenovo tech support believe there was a problem with the chipset that made the laptop think that the space bar was stuck. This of course, makes the laptop unusable.

Other Thoughts: Lenovo online chat support was helpful, as was one of two phone support agents. The other tried to sell extended warranties instead of focusing on the problem at hand. NewEgg was extremely helpful in setting up the RMA. I'll upate in 10 days or so after process complete. Purchased for parents. They initial response, prior to identifying space bar issue, was that it was a really nice laptop.
