1 out of 5 eggsFailure

Pros: Cannot say.

Cons: Tablet arrived essentially DOA. After charging it for several hours, it wouldn't stay on long enough to complete the initial setup. I'll await the arrival of the replacement to see if it's better.
BTW, Newegg was very cooperative in setting-up the RMA process with a prepaid return shipping label. Kudos to Newegg for customer support.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: In perfect condition, Cannot tell from new other than arrived in black box.

I have an iPad Mini and A playbook, this is about the same performance as the ipad, better than the playbook

Very good price

Cons: Playbook has a better interface
Battery life not as good as the iPad Mini
Voice recognition not as good as the mini but it 1/2 the price
No crazy on the Android interface

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money so far no complaints,

5 out of 5 eggswhat i was looking for

Pros: Quick to boot and wake. very responsive screen. great at multi tasking multiple processes/apps. crisp HD display for photos and/or video. good size, weight, and grippage on back for holding. battery lasts me two days when using while doing general internet usage, watching episodes of shows on Netflix, reading kindle, and playing final fantasy classic.... it has been the perfect entry into a tablet world.

Cons: I don't care for placement of the headphone jack and USB. also wish it had an SD slot.....but I send most documents and photos to cloud storage anyway. my come arent enough to minus an egg. oh....and wish the one camera it does have was of better MPs.

Other Thoughts: I almost bought a $90 tablet....glad I smartened up. plus this unit ads refurbished still has Asus warranty AND NewEggs return policy. a great first tablet buy....glad I didn't do the limited function Krandle. all I originally wanted was an e-reader...glad I went for more! it was mostly charged right out of the box, so setup was instant and easy. easily worth the price.... and I haven't even begun on the tech specs...

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Fast, awesome tablet
Perfect for my use

Cons: Not sure about the battery yet

Other Thoughts: I bought the Nexus 7 for light use, mostly to watch movies on the go and reduce the use of my desktop computer (Mac Pro with 4 HDs running all the time is a pain in the summertime). After a couple hours of use, the tablet is perfect for me.

It's my first real hands-on experience with Android and so far I love it, the tablet is well designed, feels solid and very confortable to hold. My refurbished unit doesn't show any sign of wear.

The only thing I'm not sure yet is the battery. I haven't had the time to use it enough but it has shown some strange behavior already. First of all even when plugged it will go down at an alarming pace with some light use, and when I used it unplugged it got down to 50% pretty fast. Maybe it will get better with time and a full 24 hours charge.

Overall a solid tablet at a very nice price (if you get a perfect unit like I did)

1 out of 5 eggsUpset

Pros: Looks new

Cons: Display is loose
25$ for an RMA shipping label

Other Thoughts: I should have bought a new device... to avoid headache, extra 25$ killed the deal

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Marcelo,

I am sorry that your tablet's screen is coming apart. It is quite unfortunate that you have to pay for shipping to send the tablet back to us. I completely understand your frustration with the RMA process. Although there is a cost to send the tablet to ASUS, the RMA process is usaually a hassle free experience. After you send the device to us, I am sure everything will be taken care of in a timely matter.

Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to email me. My email is cl-mark@asus.com. Have a fantastic day!

Best regards,

Mark

4 out of 5 eggsSecond one works great

Pros: No issues, works great as I had hoped. Not a blemish. Happy Customer now.

Cons: This was my second one after having returned the first one due to serious screen lag issues. It took about 3 weeks from the sending date to the receiving a new one.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Did a lot of research/reviews and the Nexus 7 was at the top on all of them. I was apprehensive at buying a refurbished unit, especially after reading here about some units not fully charging the battery. Gotta have power or even the best is a paper weight. Mine had no such problem.

I looked my Nexus 7 over with a magnifying glass and couldn't find even one scratch. Put it through the paces and it hasn't blinked yet. Lucky? Or are the technicians getting better at what they're doing? I don't know, but I'm happy with my Nexus 7.

Cons: Like others have said, a rear facing camera and an SD slot would be nice, but not a deal breaker. As far as the SD situation is concerned, the Nexus Media Importer app, a micro usb OTG cable and a flash drive, makes the "problem" less of one.

4 out of 5 eggsLucky? Safe bet is buy new

Pros: This model tablet is best in 7"class for the price. Hands down! It's a Nexus .. what more do you want? (an SD slot maybe? rear camera? ... buy a usb UTG host cable and thumb drive for storage, and we all have cell phone cams right?)

Cons: Refurb quality is HIGHLY questionable I suspect. Mine work fine BUT ... the back cover was not fully snapped on which caused some initial light bleed from warped edges. AND the unit was left on in standby for 6 days so the battery was COMPLETELY dead (i thought the unit was DOA at first, let it charge at least 30min, mine came on after 5 or so) so I recomend a GOOD 8hr inital charge unused in the off state.

Other Thoughts: Other than cons listed this thing is perfect. None of the known issues of screen seperation smushyness ect. Beautiful screen (no dead pixels). One minor scratch on the outer metal bezel is all that distinguished it from new. But all together reading other reviews I consider myself lucky and would probably just purchase new at full price ($200 newegg! NOT 280 as listed here) just to not take the chance and have a full lenght warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsBest 7" android tablet for the money

Pros: Price, beautiful IPS display, Tegra 3 quad-core, Jelly Bean 4.2.2, battery life, micro USB port, 7" size

Cons: no SD card slot, no rear facing camera but I was aware of both before purchasing device.

Other Thoughts: Refurbished...but for all practical purposes this unit is indistinguishable from brand new. It failed to connect to my network at first so I did a cold reboot and all was fine! It immediately found updates and download/installed the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Upgrade.
I have been skeptical of Android as previous versions of the OS have been laggy and unpredictable but not 4.2.2! Android is really starting to come into it's own with Jelly Bean v4.2.2.
Everything about this tablet feels right. It is very quick and very responsive. The IPS display is sharp & clear. I'm running my brightness at 60% and it looks great, also saving on battery which is awesome.
At $149 after the $40 rebte, this was a steal. If this only had an SD card slot and a rear facing camera it would have been perfect but at the price I'm not complaining.
16GB is plenty for what I will be using this for. With some music and additional apps that I installed, I still have over 9GB of space available. You can also purchase a micro USB connector to connect to a USB flash drive and increase your storage capacity.
It is also a perfect size to carry around. I have a 10" tablet but it's definitely not as portable as the 7".
Even at the list price of $199, this tablet is worth every penny. Now I'm looking forward to the Key Lime Pie upgrade later this year :)
