1 out of 5 eggsI will never buy an ASUS again

Pros: nice when it works.

Cons: My computer gave me the "blue screen" in month 9. Had to get the SATA board and SSD replaced. It took 4 weeks. Then, in month 11, my battery completely stopped charging. I had to get it replaced and again, it took 4 weeks. Now my AC adapter is acting up.

Other Thoughts: I contacted ASUS on multiple occasions to let them know I am unhappy and would like a new machine. I have been told they will contact me, that they have sent my file to higher ups, and yet I've heard nothing. This is ridiculous; no one should buy from ASUS! Stay away from this product AND this company!! I have never had so many problems with a machine that is only a year old!!!

1 out of 5 eggsFail!

Pros: Good when it works.

Cons: We have had to send it back twice for repairs.

Other Thoughts: The first time it stopped working due to a system board failure. Then, a few months later, it was the SATA drive and a cable that failed. We have to pay to ship it back ($40 - $50 each time), and it's annoying to have to reload all of our software and files. If this happens a third time, I really hope ASUS would consider giving us a new unit.

The "instant on" is nonsense, by the way.

On the positive side, whenever we have to call to get the unit repaired, the customer service agents are knowledgeable and are easy to understand.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: Motherboard failed with 5 months and took over 2 months to have repaired under warranty.

Other Thoughts: Also having connectivity issues via WiFi. The motherboard crash was ridiculous. Had the laptop for less than 5 months before it crashed then took over two months to have it fixed at an ASUS certified repair shop. Don't think I will buy Asus ever again.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS Quality Going nowhere but down

Pros: Very few, average machine.

Cons: 4 returns and counting. # 1), Bad space bar #2). Screen required #3). MB was replaced #4) HD dead.

Other Thoughts: Last ASUS for me. Advise buyer beware

2 out of 5 eggsWorked Great until Hard Drive Failed

Pros: Lightweight, long lasting battery

Cons: My hard drive failed last night! Purchased this in December as a Christmas gift and it has been in use for less than 6 months. Last night got the black screen telling me I need to reboot or install device. Not sure what the next steps are but I love this machine .... can't believe it died so quickly.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggs6 month laptop

Pros: very quick
good integrated graphics
affordable
good battery life

Cons: windows 8
sound quality is alright
touch pad isn't always responsive

Other Thoughts: After 6 months of ownership with no problems, literally over night it would not boot because "no boot device is selected". Followed by nothing. Blackness. Power light illuminates, totally non functional. Guess I should've invested in the warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am not sure when you purchased the laptop; but if you are within the warranty period, I would recommend sending the device in before your warranty expires. If you would like to send the laptop to ASUS, please contact us. I have a direct line to one of our RMA specialists you could contact. The RMA specialist's email is cl-jolene@asus.com. Thank you, and have a nice day!

3 out of 5 eggsWifi

Pros: Thin and lightweight

Cons: After purchasing this for a customer, I realized the wifi and the internet are very flaky. I replaced the router since it was due time - but the laptop still has issues with the wifi as well as hard wired. It most times shows limited connection. Even when I am sitting there next to the router, it only shows like 3 of 5 bars as far as signal strength

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Posey,

If I may, I would like to help. Have you downloaded and installed the computer's latest drivers for the wireless card and network card? The computer's network issues should be fixed after installing the drivers. You can find the computer's drivers on our support site. Should you need further assistance, please let me know. My email is cl-mark@asus.com.

Best regards,

3 out of 5 eggsSmart Gesture Shuts Off

Pros: OK computer.

Cons: Smart Gesture is terrible. When computer goes to sleep, smart gesture shuts off and the touchpad becomes so sensitive it moves the cursor around, highlights and erases random bits of text and even activates page back and enter buttons from inadvertent brushing agaist the touchpad. Restarting computer fixes this, but is annoying.

A previous reviewer stating having this problem and tried following those directions which stated to go to the power settings and change the trackpad settings, but I cannot find any setting for the trackpad there. Please help, this problem is terribly annoying.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Cassie,

I would be happy to help. The latest drivers should fix the issue with your computer's touch pad. Please download both the ATKACPI driver (hotkey-related utilities) and the ASUS Smart Gesture (Touchpad Driver) along with any other drivers your computer needs. As you already know, you can download these drivers by visiting the ASUS support page.

Once you have the latest Smart gesture program installed, open it up and go into the Settings. Disable any advanced gestures the program is using and just keep the basic ones that you want to use. After adjusting the settings, you will find that the touch pad will be a lot more stable and less frustrating to use.
Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to email me at cl-mark@asus.com. Have fantastic day!

Regards,

Mark

1 out of 5 eggsnoisy

Pros: good price, good looking

Cons: fan runs like crazy, noisy. and after a few wiondows 8 auto update (which is super slow), computer became very slow. it may need more memory, window 8 is killing 4gb

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that the unit is noisy. Here is a link below where you can update your latest bios and drivers to see if that will help with the fan issue.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty Average Laptop

Pros: I bought this Asus laptop on a budget spending as it provided more than enough to do regular computer stuff such as web surfing, microsoft related work like word processing, powerpoint, etc., webcam chatting, photoshop, and so on. Just the light work stuff this laptop is good enough for it. If you plan on doing heavy duty work, forget about it.

Cons: -Laptop shuts down at spontaneously for no apparent reason. I know it is not a temperature issue as the laptop itself doesn't feel any hotter for hours on use. I know it is not a memory issue either as I ran multiple memory tests. This automatic shut down has happened on Windows 8 which came with the laptop. Frustrated, I reformatted the OS to Windows 7 and the automatic shut down still occurs. This is really bad when you're working and having many documents and/or web browser windows or tabs open and the laptop shuts down.
-The touchpad isn't good. I recommend just using a laptop mouse if you have one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the notebook shutting down.

What you can try to do is to start over again by having everything reinstalled to see if that will fix your issue as well as doing the windows update.

This has to do with windows 8.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me again at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S
