The best laptop you can get at this time!
- Pros: Full HD Monitor, nVidia gtx260 rocks, cooling system is awesome. Runs modern games at high settings. Some included ASUS utilities are useful and fun (like LifeFrame, Smart Logon, Power 4 Gear Hybrid and others). Backup/Restore is set up in an awesome way: you get the restore partition that you can burn to DVDs (4 of them) and a separate DVD that will install the windows from scratch. ExpressGate is a very useful feature when you're in a hurry.
- Cons: Battery wear level showed 3% right away. How old are the batteries for this thing? Keyboard "pipe" key is recognized as <> characters in Linux. Overall the keyboard has pretty odd layout. I especially hate the merged Delete and Insert key. Still these are some minor issues. Nothing too serious to drop an egg.
- Other Thoughts: CIR device steals the "tilde" key when you play games and you won't be able to bring up any game console. To solve this just disable the CIR device in the device manager.
I wish Asus would send me a new battery with 0% wear level.
- Pros: . Good speed
. RUN crysis on maxed out settings even on antialiasing 16xQ AA and full anisotropic filtering. . Overall 5.9 rating but that is only because of the hard drive otherwise the average is 6.1 -ish . Face recognition is awsome .
- Cons: it is not a flying carpet. But seriously this computer is the very best.
battery does run out in 1 hour and 18 minutes but The performance makes it all better therefore, no rating points takes away.
- Other Thoughts: I have 3 Asus custom desktops and now this laptop, and so far the best experience. People say Asus have problems but I can troublehoot things and always end up finding that it is always my fault and fix it. Asus makes the best computers out there. This laptop can run any application and games you throw at it but remember to keep the hard drive clean for max results. I reinstall my windows 7 x64 bits every month. People complaining about not having things like, blue ray drive and what not and I say why are you complaining about something that it doesn't have? You pay for exactly the kind of monster you asked for. Buy things to install it yourself. This laptop so far the best I experienced and Alienware laptops are just expensive as hell compare to Asus. I know you might say that Alienware is much faster and all, but you are paying for all those extra power and of course you are not paying that much for this laptop yet it's a good comparison, since it can run everything efficiently.
Great Gaming Laptop
- Pros: Runs many games, like Mass Effect 2 on full settings, back-lit keyboard, runs in different modes, has 1920 x 1080 resolution, cool design.
- Cons: Kinda big and bulky and has a short battery life.
- Other Thoughts: My old computer was an HP Mini netbook and it was slow, but small. I immediately sold it after I got this one, because this is a huge improvement.
