5 out of 5 eggswell well well

Pros: this is one nice little netbook. its zippy and feels comfortable to use. i am writing this review with as right now. the keys are a good size and i have big fingers. everything works as advertised.

Cons: there is a small amount of bloatware on this thing, but nothing a person whos been around computers for more than 5 minutes cant handle. it comes with xp (stable but im not a fan. go ubuntu!)

Other Thoughts: if you are going to upgrade this machine to seven then i suggest getting a 2 gig stick of ram to plop in here. this thing runs ubuntu better than it runs xp! the touch pad is a little strange at first, but you get used to it quickly. this computer is perfect for any college kid who doesnt want an expensive laptop. its a great work machine!

3 out of 5 eggsCheap, but decent

Pros: The title says it all. This product is cheap. In the pro category, this means inexpensive. The computer works great: it is not slow as some people have mentioned (are they trying do finite element analysis on these or something?). This is my second eeePC and I am still on the pleased side. I have to compare it to my other one, an older 1000H which is almost exactly like the newer 1000HE. The biggest improvement to the 1000H and HE is that the right shift key is full size on the 1005HA where the 1000H and HE have this tiny little blackberry-size right shift key that is considerably annoying for some people.

Cons: What can I say, this thing is cheap. The first thing I noticed is that the keyboard flexes when you type on it, due to the very thin plastic backing the keyboard lies on. As I type this my keyboard is bouncing up and down and I'm wondering when the thing will just cave in. The camera is .3 megapixels as opposed to my 1000H's 1.3 megapixels. It still works fine, though. My biggest con, though, is it's very apparent that Asus and Windows rushed through their operating system. When I first powered this thing on it got stuck on the welcome screen and would not display a user even though the OS was vociferously asking me to select a user. I had to re-install from the "secret" partition, something I doubt less technically knowledgable users would know how to do. When I got Windows to finally work there were still some aesthetic problems. Nothing big, but it was still annoying and somewhat of a letdown considering how smoothly my experience with my 1000H has gone.

Other Thoughts: Overall, my experience has been good with this product. I get the feeling the difference in price with this thing and the 1000HE is because you're making a BIG gamble. It looks cheap, feels cheap, is obviously made cheap, and, therefore, costs cheap. I don't have great peace of mind with this thing as I'm afraid it may break at any moment. This gamble may pay off for me because I've been savvy enough to know how to navigate its problems, but if you're shaky on the tech side and you can handle a small right shift key I highly recommend going for the HE. The HE has a few features this one doesn't and my older brother 1000H runs much more smoothly than this one.

5 out of 5 eggs!Excllent!

Pros: this thing is fast (with ubuntu on it). Just enough to cary around and when you need Internet access (I'm using my cell phone as wireless router). Battery life is great, I was able to watch 65 mins of video untill battery died, IMHO it's great.

Cons: doesn't have bottle opener :)

1 out of 5 eggsPower adapter is faulty!

Pros: It's a very nice little netbook, extremely potable and I'v never had a problem with having too little ram. it runs google chrome and Zune very efficiently.

Cons: This is the only point that matters. I just purchased my netbook about a month and a half ago and the power cord has broken, spontaneously. I'm not sure why, but there are many other complaints about it, too many for it to be coincidence. I am currently getting the hord replaced and hoping they have sorted out the bug, but in the meantime be VERY WARY of this netbook, there is a very high risk of the power cord breaking.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little guy!

Pros: Lightweight, obviously. Fast. Eye-catching...lots of people ask about it when they walk by my cubicle. Paired with a small, USB wireless mouse and it's great.

Cons: The keyboard seems a little bit flimsy, or maybe I push too hard. I wish the 'Tab' key on the left side of the keyboard was a little longer...I use tab all the time to navigate forms on websites for logging in and whatnot and I sometimes end up pressing the "Q" button.

Other Thoughts: Love it, really. My first computer was a C-64. And we've now reached a point where laptops are too big, clumsy and cumbersome.

This guy is perfect for grabbing it and quickly looking something up, or shooting off a quick email. Because of it's small footprint, it's replaced my alarm clock. I set a task for Winamp to start playing songs from my music library or a podcast to wake up in the morning and quickly slide it into my carrying case and bring it off to work.

One of my absolute favorite toys, ever.

1 out of 5 eggsHopeless Service

Pros: It may be as good as it sounds, but it will work for you only until it decides not to turn bad, but thereafter nobody will help you.

Cons: I have this PC for more than 6 months now and for each and every day that I use it, I have to hold the charger in place with my left hand otherwise it won't charge.
This problem developed approximately after 1 month so newegg could no longer help me. I got an RMA for it from ASUS (note: they only pay one way shipping even if its not your fault), when I got it back, they replaced it with a new charger, but they didn't have the intelligence to plug it in and see if it works.
The problem wasn't with the charger but with the body, so here I am writing a review with only my right hand as I am holding the EEE PC charger with my left.

Other Thoughts: If only ASUS had real customer support.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's a Net book.Does everything it should very well.Plays movies & Music great, and multitask decently,Internet works great and can have 10 tabs open without a hitch.Plays you tube videos but only up to 720p with a lil picture framing, recommend 480p,But with the resolution and size of the LED screen,It looks great!Battery is great and webcam is a plus!

Cons: I wasn't expecting much!Exceeded my expectations substantially!Way better than any I pad that I have used for half the price!

Other Thoughts: Honestly If your only watching movies, music, and surfing the web there's no need for anything more than this!Plus Asus is definatly the brand for laptops!

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Bought this for the wife. She likes to use Facebook, Photoshop, Internet, etc, and this machine does it with easy. I did buy a 2gb stick of RAM though to replace the OEM 1gb. No problems!

Cons: none.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value!

Pros: Quick boot time (I haven't even changed msconfig yet)
Good battery life (3-4 hours when browsing web)
3 USBs
Expandable RAM
Looks great (dark blue chips in paint that reflect in sunlight, looks pretty cool)
Fake SD card to keep in SD port so it doesn't get filled with dust over time
Keyboard is easy to use. I got used to it pretty fast and I have rather large hands, so this was important to me.
Webcam is pretty good (I probably won't use it)
Charges quickly too
Dual Core
Starts applications quickly
The touchpad has little bumps on it that help your finger glide across it. This is my first portable computer and I got used to using the touchpad quickly.
Comes out of sleep mode quickly
Bright vivid screen
Feels really sturdy
Function keys let you quickly change standard things like brightness and volume, but it also lets you change power saving modes on the fly too. Really good feature
2 partitions at 80GB each
Streaming videos might stutter a little bit, but it usually w

Cons: Keep in mind this is all nitpicking

I'm getting an error when I start up, I can't remember what it is right now, but I'm sure I can fix it. I think it's something stupid that I can just disable via msconfig anyways. No biggie.

Ignore all of the people saying it won't play games or edit video. This is a NETbook! It isn't made to edit videos and play current gen games. They're made to check email and do things like word processing. This obviously isn't going to run Crysis, and you aren't going to be able to browse the net while listening to music and watch a streaming video on youtube. IT'S A NETBOOK!

Other Thoughts: Overall great value for what you get. If you're on the fence about buying this you should definitely buy it. You won't regret it!
This is my first product from Asus and so far I'm impressed. I didn't like the docking software they had on it, but you can just disable that in 10 seconds like I did.
This is also my first purchase from Newegg and I'm very satisfied. It took 4 or 5 days to get here.
