5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Very satisfied. This card took about 5 minutes to install. I was upgrading from a single band 2.4 ghz version of this same product.

TP-LINK TL-WN881ND Wireless N300 3 bars 47.3/MBS

Dual Band N900 - 5 Bars 126.3/MBS

Router: Asus RT68u

I'm in the basement of a 1800 sq/ft townhouse router is on the opposite side.

Also I am paying for BLAST! 105/mbs from Comcast.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS CARD!

Cons: Wasn't free.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Have not had one issue with it. I uninstalled my old one that I was having issues with. It never drops connection, which was a problem I used to have. My old wireless was a USB connected and would blue screen my computer if I unplugged it. This one was super easy to install, the driver automatically updated to the most recent one, and there have been absolutely no problems with it.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great under Linux for HostAP

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Doesn't get too hot. 5 GHz band works fine under Linux for running a homemade 5 GHz network w/ hostapd. Paired with a Rosewill 54G card for dual-band. Wireline speeds to the Internet (60/8 mbit) and about 200 mbit/sec local transfers to NAS.

Cons: The antemmas are positioned in a way that tends to block ports above it ike Ethernet cards. Really pretty minor. I moved the card above my Ethernet cards.

Other Thoughts: I don't know how long this will last in use 24/7.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with my quad running win7 or 8 64bit

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: box and card look nice

Cons: took it out of the package and plugged in right into my computer and it wouldn't work, when i plug it in i get an error code on my pc, something about the pci item im plugging in, it turns on but i get nothing on my screen and than after 20 seconds or so it restarts and continues this process, i tried swapping my bios to bios 3 and i at least got picture but my computer ran so slow and when i logged in my computer freaked out, than my tv started screeching really loud, hadn't had this happen before from a wifi card, after i turned if off and unplugged it everything was fine. the board is a EVGA Z77 FTW, i have an i5 3.4 quad core processor, I ran it with both my windows 7 64 bit and windows 8 and neither worked and i have no issues with anything except this card, i'm really disappointing because i'm moving in a little over a week and need a wifi card. Especially upset after paying 40 bucks for this thing just for it to now work. First time i've actually gotten anything from newegg tho that has failed.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Amazing speeds
Superb Range
Multiple Antennas
Reliable
Easy to install

Cons: The drivers would not install properly. If it wasn't for the nasty Maleware i caught at the time and doing a clean install of windows, The drivers finally worked after the clean install. Since then, its been beautiful.

So bare in mind, if this is going along a brand new build, i dont see any issues that may arise. But if you're upgrading, you may have some difficulty. Not taking an egg off, because this product is too amazing.

Other Thoughts: Had this for about 1 year now, and ever since i fixed the issue with the drivers, it works as intended, i am getting the max speeds that my ISP will allow from the opposite corner of my 2 story house. Ever since I bought their $20 wifi dongle, i've been a huge fan of them ever since. Not once have i ever contacted their customer support, because i never had too.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Card

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Cheap (got it on sale for $30)
Super easy to set up
Good connectivity
Very fast (I can finally use 5Ghz Wifi)

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: Nice, simple card. Easy to set up, just popped it in and installed the drivers and it worked. The 802.11n 5Ghz wifi actually takes advantage of my 60 mbps internet!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Out of the Box

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

Pros: Worked out of the box on Windows 8.1.

Seriously, plugged it into my build before I even booted the first time, when it came time to install Windows I had zero issues.

Cons: Poor reception. This probably has nothing to do with the product and more with my router and computer placement but I would get about half the speed of my laptop that would be connected to the same network on the same desk. Minimize the amount of walls between you and the router and you will see better performance.

Other Thoughts: I picked this up assuming that powerline adapters would not work well at my house. It worked well enough to get up and running and on to the internet but I had trouble with high bandwidth applications. I purchased some TP-Link powerline adapters after realizing that my wiring would work properly and haven't looked back. Speeds are excellent and I don't drop connection like I would over wireless sometimes. Consider an adapter, but if wireless is your only option I would recommend this product.
