1 out of 5 eggsTP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Fast shipping from Newegg; easy setup - no more than 5 minutes

Cons: While the WR841N detected the internet and quickly provided a connection, IT WOULD NOT STAY CONNECTED. I am running Windows 7 64 bit, the exclamation would show up within 1 - 2 hours, sometimes less. I had to reset (power on and off) this router in order to reconnect to the internet. Check to a firmware update and it was up to date and all the settings are correct. VERY FRUSTRATING. Most of the reviews were good that it why I got it. I guess the one I got was in the one egg category.

Hooked an old "B" router and it maintained an internet connection for 2 days. So I know it is not my service provider.

Will be contacting Newegg for resolution.

Other Thoughts: If it was not for this serious problem I would have given it a 5.

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: price

Cons: can't seem to handle heavy traffic

Other Thoughts: It seems to work fine for basic web browsing and the such, but whenever I need to use LYNC for work, it seems to have issues. Network quality is always reported as "pretty bad" and the sound continually cuts out coming and going. also, lately it sometimes seems to drop the internet connection and I have to reset it. the other day when I had to get work done it failed on me a couple times and was extremely frustrating. Unfortunately it doesn't have the reliability of performance that I need, but hey, for twenty bucks I shouldn't have expected it I guess. I never tried to tax it with console gaming or p2p, but I suspect it would probably not do well. Now I'm back on newegg looking for something else and will probably spend big bucks on something that I can rely on.

5 out of 5 eggsWDS, Minimum Power Usage

Pros: I use this router's WDS (wireless bridge) to wirely hook my media pc so that I could wake it up online, the media PC also has AC-wireless connection to my main router. Many high end router does not have the WDS feature. The WDS could also create another WIF with different SSID / password (for guest?).

This router uses < 5 Watts power and I don't mind to keep it on all day.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth

Pros: Fast speed and reliable for a $20 router
OpenWrt is supported on v9

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: It is a router that works well for $20. What else do you expect?
There are plenty of expensive routers that are worse than this.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent router, terrible shipping

Pros: So this router has an amazing range. I set this up in a family friend's house and the range blew me away I was able to use her Wi-Fi from not only outside her house, but inside her neighbors house which was about three buildings away. I highly recommend this router.

Cons: There is only a single downside. The shipping is absolutely terrible.

I have a Newegg Premier account. I paid the extra $$$ for next day shipping on a Monday at 10:00 AM. I used Rush processing and I also made sure the order went through. I did not receive the router until FRIDAY. I asked Wednesday where my package was and they said it was in "transit". After looking at the UPS Code it changed the Delivery date 3 different times. At this point I asked for a refund and they coincidentally "lost my request" and now I'm stuck with the extra $$$ I spent for next day shipping.

Other Thoughts: I only knocked off a single star because the Company does not have a good customer service program with their shipping.

My advice?

Order this router and give it plenty of time to arrive, don't expect it to come in early even if you pay for extra shipping, you're just wasting your money.

5 out of 5 eggsGreatfully Good

Pros: Economical High Performance and really cool literally. My location has 11 devices in networked in two and a half stories. Good to very good signal to all. Manual method used to complete the setup. Wireless adapters included both wireless G and wireless N configured with WPA2 security with AES.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This unit replaced an older Cisco and Rosewill wireless G units that were dispatched to my trash can. All stations worked well with the this new unit ---proved to me that it wasn't my ISP that was my problem and glad for that result.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's Just O.K..... So Far

Pros: 1. As good as my ISP provided wireless router which is a Netgear unit.
2. Is very energy efficient. Has been running continuously for 3 days and is barely even warm. Much more efficient than my ISP furnished Netgear router.
3. Easy to install.
4. Unit was ordered in early Sept. and when it arrived it already had the latest firmware loaded which is a good thing.
5. Unit seems to be well built. I really like the LED's on the top of the unit. Very low output but still visible when needed. You won't need to put black tape over them to sleep at night, LOL.

Cons: 1. Some minor intermittent loss of signal today.
2. No stronger signal to the rest of my home than any other "N" type router. In fact my Roku box shows a WEAKER [one bar less] signal than my ISP furnished Netgear Router.
3. My Android streaming stick however shows a STRONGER signal [one more bar] than my ISP furnished Netgear Router.
PLEASE note: For my purposes both comment 2 and 3 are meaningless since I have more than enough wifi signal to stream anything I want. In addition, it could be nothing more than some minor variation in signal quality at the time for example some other neighbor nearby on a nearby wifi channel.

Other Thoughts: My biggest overall concern is an intermittent loss of signal which only happened once today leading me to believe it was most likely a problem at my Internet Service Provider. I will continue to monitor the unit closely for the next few weeks.

I am at this point pleased with my purchase .

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, functional, MAC blacklisting is great

Cons: None as of yet

Other Thoughts: Replaced my old WNR1000v3 with this. Old router didn't support MAC blacklisting, which was terrible (whitelist only), so this thing does what I need it to nicely. It's also got better wireless, or so I've been told as I only use it via ethernet.
