5 out of 5 eggsNice stable router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Easy setup, works flawlessly, reliable and good range. Also very good service from TP-Link.

Cons: Broken in about 2 years of heavy use. However, TP-Link's service is super good, send a replacement right away.

4 out of 5 eggsReplacement Router

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Cheap.
The router menu is easily navigated.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Took about 3-4 resets for it to pick up my internet from my modem, not sure what that was but everything is working smoothly now. I've only had it for two days so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router and great TP-Link service!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Easy to setup, stable, good range, fast and reliable. All my devices at home runs smoothly with this router, no single issue.

However, after heavily used for more than 1 year, the router died somehow. I contacted TP-Link since it's covered in two-year warranty. They sent me a new replacement right away. Great service!

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsTP-Link TL-wr841N

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Price
size
runs DDWRT
Did I forget to mention price

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Didn't even configure stock software. Immediately flashed to latest version of DDWRT. Upon reboot I was greeted with the DDWRT. Took about 15 minutes to configure as a client bridge. Runs cools with low errors on the wireless and stays cool. The only downside, and it is nothing on the operation of the hardware, is the color. It's white, but it has a small footprint so it's not an eyesore.

5 out of 5 eggsWireless, Could say WireLOW price

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Does what it says on the box! I have my gaming PC and laptop hardwired. It gives me solid connection. The wireless i use for tablets, phones and the girlfriends laptop. It works great. Speed test show low lag on the wireless and still gives me the 50mbps that my hardlined PC gets. I live in a 800sf 1bed apt so i dont need HUGE coverage.

Cons: After disconnect the unit or turning it off it takes 2 on/off cycles to get it to connect to then internet. After that its solid and doesnt drop anything.

Other Thoughts: If you need some simple wireless connection for handheld devices and do not have to much area to cover, for the price you cant beat this unit

5 out of 5 eggsV 9.2

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: This is the old and trusty Rosewill RNX-N300T. I've run the aforementioned v1 of that router for more than 2 years with zero problems.
Funny enough, this router, TL-WR841N is the firmware donor for the Rosewill. Unfortunately, even though Rosewill is still being made, v2 is no longer compatible with dd-wrt.

This one, on the other hand (TL-WR841N), took all of five minutes to load and run dd-wrt (factory-to-ddwrt.bin, followed by tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin).
Perfect!

Cons: it's white. with black antennas.
Oh, well. :)

4 out of 5 eggsGood

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: price
ease of use
802.11n speed

Cons: 802.11g speed

Other Thoughts: I got this to replace a Belkin 150n that I had to reset a quarter of the times I want to use it with a Chromecast. So far I have not had to reset this one. The 802.11n speed is better with this tp-link unit (65 mbps wifi, 90-95 mbps wired, on a cable modem with an advertised 105 mbps service download speed and 95 mbps connected directly to the cable modem) compared to the Belkin unit. However, the 802.11g wifi speed is slower with the tp-link (10 Mbps instead of 30 Mbps).

4 out of 5 eggsFor the price its a good router!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mbps, IP QoS, WPS Button

Pros: Fast up to 300Mb wireless.
Decent options for a cheap router for home use.

Cons: Kinda big for a router nowdays.
Has two big antennas sticking up out of it instead of built in ones.

Other Thoughts: This router can only be placed horizontally or on the wall. Since I, and most other people, wont hang it on the wall it takes up desktop space in the horizontal position. There is no option to vertically stand it.

Further there is two big antennas sticking out the back of it that remind me a lot of the ones I use to see from old wireless G routers. If they were built in antennas it would be much better.

I have had the router about 3 months past a year and it just died. It had been a good router for being so cheap. It was always fast and reliable. It never gave me any trouble in terms of connection or speed.

If you need a cheap router to get the job done then this is a good one to look at in my opinion.

Also, like all routers as soon as you get them make sure you go to the manufacturer site and check for FIRMWARE UPGRADES. They often include fixes for bugs, security, and so on.
