1 out of 5 eggsI expected better from Asus

Pros: Lets you connect to internet. Woopie... just like every other wifi router

Cons: Asus... I expected better from you guys. I really wanted this to be a great product because I do love your motherboards. First off you guys should be ASHAMED of yourself for calling this USB 3.0. 15mbps is far from USB 3.0. Tech support seriosly responded back with "this is normal speed for this router". Besides the fact that your advertising basically USB 2.0 as 3.0 it makes things worse because the 2 USB ports interfere with the 2.4ghz radio due to lack of shielding. Granted this router was designed before they knew about the issue HOWEVER asus should have removed what stock was available and fixed the issue. Now there are tons of people out there that have poor performing wifi on 2.4ghz along with a dead slow USB storage on top of that. The worst of both worlds. Its supposed to be an upgrade to the rt-n56u but because of these flaws it is actually worse. Wifi is constantly kicking me off and router needs to be reset.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsI Did It Right The First Time

Pros: This Router has Better Features then any I could find from Asus, Lynksys, and NETGEAR even Outside of its Price Range.

Cons: It's Smaller then my Modem.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Beast

Pros: Replaced my old garbage Zyxel router that could not handle the demands of my house. It would struggle and restart almost ever day at least 5 times...until I got this.

This thing is ridiculous. Not only can it take up to 3 wireless printers, a PS4, and up to 4 separate PC's...but it's not even phased when I throw a gaming PC on it too.

So easy to set up too.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Like any other router, it needs to be unplugged and restarted once in a blue moon. But nothing that takes an egg off.

1 out of 5 eggsTerribly Disappointed

Pros: It looks cool I guess. The 5Ghz radio works.

Cons: I received this in the mail and from day 1 the 2.4ghz radio never worked. I have read ASUS support site and googled this extensively to find out that this is apparently a common issue and most people that have had this issue RMA it and receive another broken router. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product and I am furious that ASUS expects me to send them this router before they send me a new one. So now i get to go probably about 2 weeks without a router.

Other Thoughts: I finally saved the money to buy what I thought would be a good wireless router. I had been living without wireless internet for about 6 months now and my wife has been driving me crazy to fix it. I finally buckled down and bought this thinking it would be better than almost every other brand out there. I have an ASUS motherboard and I guess I just assumed they could make any product well, boy was I wrong. I don't even want to RMA this and receive the same product anymore, I just want my money back so i can spend the extra money for a Linksys router and forget this awful ASUS experience. Nice try, but stick to motherboards, ASUS.

2 out of 5 eggsSlow and inconsistent port forwarding

Pros: Basic functions (wifi and LAN) work fine.

Cons: Port forwarding does not work consistently. I am having trouble making sure that ports 22 and 25 forward appropriately to a dedicated server on the LAN side. The trouble disappears when I connect the server directly to outside.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Rex,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. For assistance in setting up your port forwarding, please contact me at cl-celeste@asus.com and include case#N140727883 in the subject line. I encourage you to reach out to our Customer Loyalty Team for further assistance with your ASUS products. We provide continuous technical support and continuous communication at no additional cost. 1 out of 5 eggsfirst and last Asus product

Pros: Nice interface and features. Easy to set up USB printer.

Cons: The router was preforming poorly, network and internet lag almost constantly for both wired and wireless connections of 10-60 seconds and many lost packets. So I update the BIOS and it turned into a brick. I sent the router in and received another unit that clearly wasn't new because it has scratches on the case as if it was abused. The new router has no 5 GHz connectivity. I bought this thing when it was new and set me back $140. I feel horrible.

Other Thoughts: It is crazy to me that Asus sent a defective product out to me after an RMA. I can understand wanting to fix a broken product and send it back out, but you had better make sure it works before sending it back out.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected

Pros: Cool design
Easy to use gui setup
hard drive hookup with usb ports on router

Cons: horrible range
bad connectivity

Other Thoughts: Love the asus brand but was quite disappointed in the performance of this router. Couldnt access the internet from across my house; 70' away from router. Shoulda known to get the one with antennas for better range! Hopefully others will have better luck than i did =)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Speed
Reliability
Functions

Cons: Heat
Price
Range

Other Thoughts: I was quite skeptical about buying a router with so many people claiming DOA. I Updated a firmware and everything works nice and smooth. My old $20 router had better range than ASUS. But certainly more reliable connectivity.

3 out of 5 eggsDisapointing

Pros: Very easy to use and setup, it has many features to like. I love being able to set the wireless to enable and disable on specific days and times. It is a solid router however......

Cons: I bought this router to use in my office, As it stands the bosses computer has to be on to print using a USB printer, I liked that this had 2 USB ports so we could connect our MFC printer and a backup hard drive to it. We connected the printer and all was working great until we tried to scan, it doesn't work, it also won't allow copy or fax functions from the computer. If you want a router to use as ONLY A PRINT SERVER this will work fine, BUT IF YOU HAVE A MFC and want to scan or do anything other than print this will NOT work. I tried everything that was mentioned, and both ways of connecting it, nothing worked. 2 Hours was wasted on it with the result being that I purchased a router I didn't need expecting it to make life easier when the end result was to put things back the way they were, I just hope the hard drive works when we get it.
