1 out of 5 eggsA great way to waste $40

Pros: Pros....it has a nice blue light.
The terrible connectivity helps me get things done on my computer rather than wasting time surfing the web.

Cons: Operation - It'll work great for 5 minutes, then all web connections will stall. You will waste your $40 on this. I've fooled around with settings, wasted countless hours resetting, reconfiguring, and nothing works well.
Question - sure it's cheap, but is you sitting watching things work like old-school 9,600baud modems worth it? No, I don't think so.

Other Thoughts: I regret recommending this to other people - it's been an unending source of embarrassment.

3 out of 5 eggsOutgrew it

Pros: Works for light loads, small, no external antennas, 4 ethernet ports. Range has been pretty good. I can watch Chromecast from my garage about 35 feet away.

Cons: As many have mentioned it does drop connection frequently. Setting it to restart each night helps but I think there must be some sort of device limit because it only seems to work for some devices at a time.

Other Thoughts: I bought this router at the Wal* over 20 months ago and at the time served only 2 cell phones and a hardwired pc. Since then we have cut the cord and now watch TV with Roku and Chromecast. So now the router serves 9 wireless devices - 2 Roku, 3 Chromecast, 2 tablets, 2 phones - and a hardwired pc. I can't really fault the router since it wasn't designed for such demands. The time has come to upgrade so I purchased (from Newegg this time) a Netgear Nighthawk R4000! This should do the trick.

1 out of 5 eggsYou're better off stealing your neighbor's wifi.

Pros: It works on occasion.

Cons: I just posted a pretty lengthy review, but, surprise! I lost my wifi connection.I live in a <1,000 sq. ft. apartment and if I bring my laptop to the bedroom, it loses connection; or it loses connection randomly. Now, I just plug my laptop into my modem rather than getting up every 10 minutes to restart it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Dan,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the F9K1002 router. We sincerely regret the inconvenience and we'd like to offer our assistance in troubleshooting your Belkin router. It's a possibility that your wireless connection is dropping due to wireless interference. We can adjust the wireless Channels on the router and use non-overlapping Channels (Channel 1, 6 or 11) to avoid wireless interference. Please send us an email about your challenges at BelkinCares@belkin.com and include the link to this review so we can properly assist you.

1 out of 5 eggsNo. Just... no.

Pros: Makes a fantastic paper weight.

Cons: DHCP doesn't work 75% of the time. Otherwise the connection (once you get one) is fine. This is my first and last Belkin product. My 14 year old WRT54G v1.0 is still chugging along just fine even though its speed is limited. This one never made it to a day old without serious problems. I'm going to try the new firmware, but based on the horror stories of people dealing with customer service, I won't bother much beyond that. A waste of $40.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Johntuck,

Our regrets for the inconvenience. We appreciate your time in sharing your review. Do you experience dropping wireless connection when using the F9K1002 router? You can try to adjust the router's wireless settings. Change the Channels on the router, use Channel 1 or 6 or 11. Allow us to further assist you with the router. Please send us an email at BelkinCares@belkin.com together with the link to this review.

2 out of 5 eggsKeep Looking

Pros: Easy Setup
Cheap in price
Fast if you are very near the router.
I wrote this review using this router. Wow!

Cons: The N300 isn't horrible. It's just bad when you have so many better choices.

The flaw for me is that it can't give reliable wifi in a small dorm apartment. For the N300 to work well, I would have to be sitting right next to it the entire time.

This wireless router will drop randomly. Webpages would load slowly or not load at all if the router is too far away. I could load pages more reliably at the school library with their slow wifi and competing with other students. I tested two other devices outside my own computer and they all had the same slow result if not next to the router.

In addition, it might be competing with every other wifi signals as we live in a small apartment area. It just doesn't have the power to keep its own.

I could only say get this router if you have to budget cash, you could sit right next to it, you lived alone without roommates and you didn't have other wifi signals right on top of yours.

But what's the point of this router if you can't get it from only a few feet away and share with one roommate?

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it (seriously)

Pros: It's small.

Cons: Slows connection speed, randomly disconnects, firmware update is a pain (and the one that comes with it is worthless), and customer support didn't resolve my problems.

Other Thoughts: Took forever to get it setup. It's automatic setup is an absolute joke, I found myself yelling at it, and ended up doing it manually. Finally got it connected, and I found it lowered my download speed to 5 Mbps, down from 40 Mbps. Called customer support, and after the usual "turn it off, turn it on," they recommended I change the channel, as there may be interference. Didn't help. Changed all sorts of settings around, still didn't help. And hey, it randomly disconnected a bunch too! So I returned it, bought a linksys and BAM! Wireless works perfectly. This product is completely broken, don't waste your time on it.

1 out of 5 eggsUtter Junk

Pros: None

Cons: This router will not stay connected. It drops every device in my house multiple times a day. I've tried updating firmware. Different settings. Everything. Nothing works.
Pay a little more extra and get a decent brand router.

2 out of 5 eggsBougth it on a Drunken Nigth

Pros: It werks, provides basic Wireless N 300 (2x2) with 20Hz/40Hz enabled.

Cons: After a year of use, it keeps dropping the connection, Freezing, computers have problems connecting, Had to restart it several times, bad latency, slow...

Updated the firmware, it's stable now but I'm going to replace it anyways, for one of them new shinny High Powered DDWRT routers for about them same price of this...

This was simply a bad product from an good Company, glad it's being discontinued, well at least they provided new firmware.

1 out of 5 eggsTotally garbage router

Pros: Fast, when it works

Cons: Tech support is terrible, if you tell them the router shuts off constantly, they tell you that the problem is your firewall and that you should turn it off...lost all credibility with me as soon as you told me that you released a product with a defective firewall that needs to be turned off for normal operation. Reverted back to an old WRT54G running DD-WRT and am so much happier, my "new" router may not have wireless N, but it hasn't crashed yet.

Other Thoughts: Don't purchase this unless you are looking for a router that doesn't crash when transferring files.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear you are having the troubles that you are. Please write us at customercare@belkin.com and we will look more into what you are experiencing and help you out.

Best Regards,
Belkin Support
