2 out of 5 eggsTroubles

Pros: small adapter good price

Cons: we purchased 10 of these units. 2 out of 10 are DOA
recieved new ones and have had nothing but trouble. works for a day and then won't see any network.

Other Thoughts: I am looking for a reliable replacment.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong, Good for Linux

Pros: Very good signal strength. Worked right out of the box with Ubuntu 12.04 -- plugged it in, was recognized automatically, got on the internet. Very compact.

Cons: No real cons at all.

Other Thoughts: Got a GWU523 for my daughter's old laptop a few years ago, and it worked great. This one's a bit smaller and gets a much better signal. I have no complaints at all.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plug & play on linux ubuntu 12.04

Acceptable for its price

Cons: It's not as fast as I'd hoped, randomly disconnecting some days. Using it for desktop on second floor with router on the first floor.

Other Thoughts: probably not gonna return it, using it till I find a better adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent for Linux

Pros: Works right out of the box with Ubuntu and Mint14/15. No software update is required. The price was EXCELLENT, and the data transfer rates are solid. I bought this specifically to run on Linux machines because my other wireless card on my PC isn't supported.

Cons: In Windows 7 you have to install the drivers from the CD and after you do the device may be unreliable. I experienced a lot of the problems that other users have reported here (lack of automatic connecting/random disconnects/low throughput)

After some tweaking you can get it to work the way that it is supposed to. I resolved all the issues by just going into the device manager and updating the driver instead of installing the provided software. When in b/g/n mode, the data transfer rates are erratic. When I switch it to b/g mode, download rates are consistently at 2.0 MB/s.

Other Thoughts: It sounds like the issues I mentioned are a deal breaker, but I actually quite happy with the device. I bought it specifically to run in Linux and it does so flawlessly. If you want to use it on your windows machine reliably it might take a few minutes of your time to get it working correctly. How's that for role reversal?

5 out of 5 eggsUbuntu - works right out of the box

Pros: compatible with Ubuntu (and presumably all Linux distros)
USB 2.0

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Quick Start Guide and CD for Windows (back to XP) and Mac, no mention of Linux - but didn't need it for Ubuntu. Just plugged it in, booted, looked at network connections, saw my WiFi's ESSID. Selected it, gave it the WPA2-PSK passkey and I was online. Couldn't be simpler.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's alright

Pros: gets the job done

Cons: kinda slow
heats up a lot

Other Thoughts: The usb is alright. Although I have to say that the speed on it isn't really 300. It's closer to 150 or less. I just went ahead and bought a netgear wifi adapter instead and that works amazing.

this thing also generates quite a bit of heat from it.

5 out of 5 eggsA great purchase at a great price

Pros: Installed on Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Installation was a breeze with the enclosed CD-Rom. Had it up and running in about 10 minutes. At about 40 feet from router, computer works as good or better than when wired to modem.

Cons: None so far
