4 out of 5 eggsUpgrade my old WRT54G

Pros: Cloud Storage; 802.11ac/a/b/g/n compatible; inexpensive; Newegg

Cons: Lightweight & top heavy, tips over easily; short power cord; confusing AP setup. Not as strong a signal as the old Linksys.

Other Thoughts: When I ordered tis, my ISP had been hit by a hack that took down a bunch of their Comtrend modems, including mine. The result was that, while wired connections to the WRT stayed up, wireless cononections were lost. I blamed the WRT. Turned out that the Comtrend had to be swapped out and that fixed the wireless drops. I had already ordered the 802L and decided to keep it, due to the cloud storage and the higher speed. When paired witht he TPLink WN772N adapter I ordered at the same time, I do see an increase in wireless speed, although not nearly up to full "n" speed. I also get a slightly weaker signal level (4 bars down from 5) on all my wireless devices. The others are all "G" receivers, so they are simply pegged out at 54 Mbps, like they were before.
Setting this unit up as a simple access point and letting my ISP's modem/router assign DHCP was a bit of a trick. I did it manually and did not follow the instructions by unplugging the router from my computer before rebooting after entering my setup info. As a result, I couldn't get it to connect. When I followed the instructions, it worked fine. RTM!.
I've been running it for about a month, an it has performed flawlessly. I'm on Newegg today to order a 2T external to set up the cloud storage. I expect no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsLove This Router

Pros: Very good solid router
Easy to setup
Looks pretty good

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I had a modem with built in wifi from my local cable company and it stopped working right. They got me a new normal modem and I am using this and now my stuff is right again and blazing fast.

2 out of 5 eggsgrade "d" link

Pros: great device interface. i wanted this router to operate as a hardline router. i turn it on, open the device page and had the wps turned off in 2 clicks. when operating this router was quick and was worth its value.

Cons: i had the gamer lounge before this one. for its time a stellar router, had it for many years extremely dependable, made me a d link fan based on the longevity and durability (lots of heavy traffic use) . the DIR-820L did not live up to its predecessors integrity. less than 90 days and this router is dead.

Other Thoughts: the cylindrical design of the router itself seems kinda silly. due to its light weight plastic case and external layout it makes it top heavy, prone to tipping and moving a bit if not properly mounted. disappointed at my brand loyalty :(

5 out of 5 eggsD-Link DIR-820L Review

Pros: Extremely satisfied wit this router. I just recently changed to TWC for internet here in LA area, they were able to set it up for me very quickly, I get great signal, even reaches to my garage which is detached from my house about 50 feet away.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Wish the signal was stronger, but then again i should have purchased a more powerful device

5 out of 5 eggsGreat D-LINK

Pros: Setup very easy, was up and running in no time. I replaced my DIR-655 with the DIR-820L. My TV would not connect to the old router. DIR-820L connected immediately. I do like the WPS reset button.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am very satisfied with the router and would recommend it with no reservations
