2 out of 5 eggsits old. and it shows

Pros: good signal. thats it.

Cons: bought this on a whim. its 2016 now, this thing is really out dated. dont get it unless you REALLY cant afford any thing else. ill be getting rid of this thing in a week. my internet speeds have slowed down, and my download speeds never go past 1mb/s over wifi. any ways, its time to move on from the 2000s and go for modern tech. dont waste your money

5 out of 5 eggsBest router I've ever owned

Pros: -Dead simple setup
-Low Price
-Burned up after 10 years! Yes, it lasted 10 years!

Cons: -Slow by today's standards.
-That my old one is gone.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this router new in 2005. The setup was simple and secure. After that I moved several times (military orders) and this little device survived every move and set up at the new location. It was not until a random Tuesday night in 2015 that I noticed that I had no internet connection and a strange buzzing sound coming from the router. After disassembly I found one of the chips completely burned out. Please note that this was after 10 years of nearly continuous use. Even with my Xbox I had no need to deal with port forwarding or DMZ. Every device I had seamlessly flowed data without a single hick-up. When it died I replaced it with the much newer dlink that came from Verizon. Despite being newer that router just straight out sucked. Now that I have moved once again I am ordering another one of these routers. No, they are not the fastest things out there, but they do what they do very well; and with reliability and longevity. I never bothered flashing new firmware. This thing does just fine on its own.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Product

Pros: Great product. Easy to use and setup. It lasted me around 5 years before it started having problems, but it's still running for now. The wifi works well and has a stable connection.

Cons: The technology is rather old so it might not be fast enough if you have extremely fast internet. Although the wifi has stable connection, it's range is not that far. I have trouble connecting to the wifi from my room around 10m away from the router.

Started to have some connection problems after 5 years. It would drop the connection at times for hours even with reboot. Tried directly connecting to the modem and internet worked fine.

Other Thoughts: If your internet is not that fast, it is a worthwhile purchase as it will serve you for many years. It's a good reliable product which is fairly cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsTop Dawg

Pros: Update: 2/6/16 and STILL going strong!

This is the greatest general purpose router ever built...

Been so long I don't even remember when I bought it.

Never failed, never dropped password as some claim to have experienced and long range claim is true in my experience.

My Samsung Galaxy stays solidly hooked as far as the condo dumpster...downstairs and across a parking lot... at least as far as half a football field and a bit more.

Cons: None, nyet, zilch, nada, nein, zip

Other Thoughts: Can anyone else think of any single tech item available on Newegg, in any category, that's stayed at the very top of the "best rating" list as long as this router ???

1 out of 5 eggsNot so great!

Pros: Hmmm Not any that I can think of!

Cons: I have to reboot router every week cause it disconnects all the time. Never had this issue with old router. Ill be throwing this one in the trash when my new one shows up!

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid router with DD-WRT

Pros: I've installed quite a few over the years in an array of setups. The only one that has died lasted 9 years in daily use.

Cons: Still ugly

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the most reliable pieces of hardware ever made

Pros: Have a WRT54G I bought from Newegg for probably 12 years now, so long I've lost count. It outlasted every other piece of hardware attached to it, and some of my family members, and my cat! It still works flawlessly. Using Tomato firmware.

Cons: My cable connection was recently upgraded to 50/5 and I have discovered that this router maxes out at ~20 downstream. Not sure if new 54GL models are limited in the same way.

Other Thoughts: They need to make a giant monument of this thing somewhere. Maybe launch one out into space, send it to Mars. The WRT54GL will never die!

5 out of 5 eggsWRT54gl; router/

Pros: This has been the most dependable and inexpensive of all I have owned or installed over the horse. Once in a while I reboot it and the to the races....too easy for a novice to set up. Great on line manual and Linksys has managed to keep it simple, functional, and inexpensive, How refreshing!!

Cons: My neighbors keep calling me for the ole "Hey we can't get on the internet can we connect to your wireless komputah for a while?

Other Thoughts: I changed my network wireless name to "GO AWAY".

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: You get a good router for the price. While it may need to reset now and again it does so smoothly. It's easy to set up and use.
If your looking for just a good sturdy router with no frills this is it and you can't loose with the price point. I've had one for years and gave it away to a friend when I upgraded to a faster model. It's still going strong.

Cons: The Linksys web site for things like updates and setting a password is less than user friendly and could be made a little more intuitive.

Other Thoughts: This is one of those items that don't need to be improved. It works as advertised.
