5 out of 5 eggsWorked as expected

Pros: Installation process and configuration was easy. I was installing this at my in-law's house, so my primary goal was ease.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was fast as always. Thanks Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Have had this router for 3 years, not one issue. Purchased to replace my second dead Linksys/ Cisco routers. Easy setup and iPad app works great with it.

Cons: No complaints. Sorry if anyone has had problems, possibly bad from factory.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed

Pros: Inexpensive. Has power button (instead of yanking the cord). Has separate button to turn off wi-fi.

Cons: Subject to frequent/random dropouts, so it is not suitable for streaming media. Only has 10/100 ports; no gigabit ethernet.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as an access point, using a powerline adaptor to connect it to my main router. I kept experiencing random dropouts, so I went back to my old WRT-54GL.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Hilndr,

We are sorry for the random dropouts and would like to offer our assistance. You can contact our support.netgear.com.

3 out of 5 eggsgood router, terrible support/warranty process

Pros: +router lasted 3 years (with a surge protector)
+lifetime warranty
+upright/small design

Cons: -RMA process is a pain to get, phone operators have no power to deviate from their limited script
-phone support and email support kept making promises they wouldn't honor. DO NOT BUY for the warranty!
-web interface is very slow randomly
-limited features on software (no guest network, traffic counters, advanced features)
-wifi range seems a bit limited compared to other 802.11n routers I've had

Other Thoughts: Summary: Their RMA/warranty process is impossibly flawed and I would NOT buy this router again. Details: The wifi portion of the router finally died one day. I went through Netgear's very confusing phone support menu to get an RMA. The operator had to do a very tedious, (though understandable to prevent abuse), diagnostic process that wasn't related to my problem. Finally issued an RMA. I shipped the same day. The next day, while the router was in transit, I called to change the return address as I had gotten laid off so couldn't accept it at work. The phone support couldn't handle that request, nor was there a supervisor available. They told me to call 'customer support' instead of tech support which doesn't exist on the phone support menu. My second call came with a promise that a supervisor would call me back within 30m. It didn't happen. I called a 3rd time the following day, and they told me about their unadvertised customer service email address which I contacted. I got a call back 6 hours later (the router had arrived at the warehouse), and the agent took down my address and said they would try to change the return. To their credit, they shipped the replacement router within 3 hours of my RMA being delivered to the warehouse but to the incorrect address. The customer support told me given my situation, they would recall the package and mail it next day to my correct address. That didn't happen, it got fully sent and refused to my former work address and returned to sender. Two weeks after, I still haven't gotten a replacement router or a competent answer from Netgear.

3 out of 5 eggsShould not advertise that these work as repeaters

Pros: The price was right. Works great as a router and access point

Cons: Bought two of these. Wanted to set them up as repeaters. They just would not work. Worked with several Netgear support reps throughout the ENTIRE day. NO ONE was able to get these repeaters to work properly. I eventually gave up and set the router up as an access point instead. I was surprised that none of the "specialists" were able to determine what the problem was. Instead they would have me repeat the same steps over and over again. Reboot the router and then reconnect via chat (after a long wait time) to another rep just to repeats the process all over again. I used to love my Netgear products but this whole ordeal makes me think that I should move my networking needs over to another brand such as Linksys. Had them close the tech support case but not as "resolved". Closed it because Netgear was unable to resolve the issue and I eventually gave up on them.

1 out of 5 eggsDying Router

Pros: easy set up.

Cons: after 8 month of use I get between 1 to 2 MBytes on wired connection. These is my third Netgear router, and replaced a Netgear WGR614v2 and v7 or so which lasted for 10 and 6 years respectively.

Other Thoughts: The router wants to be the main one and does not like to work with other routers for network extension, it cuts network speed massively.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Anon,

We want to apologize for your frustrations and would like to offer our assistance. We can be reached at newegg@netgear.com-- provide a copy and paste of your review and any other info that can help us help you.

If you have any other questions be sure to let us know. Thank you for being a loyal NETGEAR customer-- we look forward to earning your business again.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: High security, low power, good looking. Great price.

It won't be as long range or high powered as other routers which are dual band or using the ac standard. But I consider this a feature, given that I don't need the extra range or dual band, so it simply means I have a more secure connection.

Cons: None really.

At the time I bought it, this revision wasn't supported by OpenWRT or any other open firmware. Although, I expect that will change, if it hasn't already.

2 out of 5 eggsNETGEAR WNR2000-100NAS

Pros: Easy, fast set-up. Works great when it works!

Cons: Died within one month

Other Thoughts: Netgear gives the impression that they will help you with your problem yet asks for $39 for the privilege! I'm retuning it to Newegg (sorry folks)
