5 out of 5 eggsGreat While it Lasted

Pros: -Easy to navigate features
-Lasted a long time
-No trouble handling 6+ connections
-Looks nice

Cons: -Could use a better stand

Other Thoughts: This router finally gave up on me. I bought it back in 2009 and had to have it replaced this year. I figure a 5-6 year life span is plenty long for a router.

Product is easy to use and the interface is simple to navigate.

1 out of 5 eggsBad hardware?

Pros: No issues when it is working; set and forget.

Cons: When something weird is happening to your network, it probably would be this router.

Other Thoughts: I started having problems with it less than a year after purchasing this router for home use (losing settings after power cycling). After opening two tickets with Netgear the router was replaced for a working one. About two months ago the replacement lost settings after power cycling, too, but I hope it was just a one-time glitch. About a month after this incident the replacement stopped working completely, can't connect to it at all. I have same router at work that I had for a couple of years, and never had a problem with it as far as I remember. Maybe it's juts bad luck, maybe hardware got worse with time.

Manufacturer Response:

The standard NETGEAR warranty is as follows:

1 year hardware warranty
90 days phone support
Email support is valid for warranty support period

This means that you can email us at any time at newegg@netgear.com. If you have any questions pleas feel free to ask in the email as well.

We apologize for the problems and hope to get your WNR2000 working flawlessly.

Regards,

NETGEAR Team

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: I currently have 30 Mbps and soon 60 Mbps download with an upload of 4 Mbps. Performing a speed test, my speeds were either at that speed or exceeded that amount in both download and upload. This includes wireless and a wired connection.
Plug and play type router makes it easy for the biggest noobs. The basic settings are easy to maneuver and had everything I needed.
My parents also have an older version of this router at their home and it has been working for them for 3-4 years.

Cons: I have had very few disconnects but it's unlikely related to the router and more the ISP's fault. These disconnects occurred when I was wired. I don't use wireless except with a couple mobile devices I own which I don't use often. I am primarily on a desktop wired up.

Other Thoughts: Remember to divide your download speed (30 Mbps) by 8 to get your actual download rate. 30/8= 3.75 Mbps and that is where my speed holds most of the time, give or take a bit.

2 out of 5 eggsOK until it died

Pros: Reasonable price. Nice web-based setup screens.

Cons: Started to intermittently reset itself after 9 months of continuous use, requiring tedious re-configuration each time. At the 11.5 month mark it reset and wasn't able to maintain a wired connection long enough to reconfigure, before resetting itself again. Dead….

Other Thoughts: My first and last Netgear wireless router.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNow what!!?

Pros: Worked good for awhile.

Cons: Stopped working.

Other Thoughts: If any other user has a issue with "DNS Server Isn't Responding" after doing a network check. Just unplug your router and install the old one until you can find a way to get the new one to work. So for now, still using my older router. Came here to see if anyone else had the same problem.

This started happening after 3 weeks of use.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsFailed again

Pros: The warranty if it works.

Cons: My 1st unit worked about 2 weeks & now the replacement didn't work at all. I guess low quality.

Other Thoughts: I've had Netgear in the past & that's why I bought their product again but now 2 bad in a row is too much.

Manufacturer Response:

We can't apologize enough for the problems you've had with both WNR2000's and want to make things right. Please email us at newegg@netgear.com with any case numbers that you may have from support. Also include any information that can help us better assist you.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Not sure it only worked about 2 weeks. The Netgear Genie worked fine while the unit worked.

Cons: This unit completely failed. They don't give a phone number so you can call with issues.

Other Thoughts: Since having this unit Newegg has replace it with another one but that one hasn't worked from the start. I will have to go back to them & look for an alternative brand.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that your WNR2000 has stopped working and would love to get you help. The support number is 1 (888) 638-4327.

You can also contact us at support.netgear.com at a time that suits you best. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
