1 out of 5 eggsTotal Junk

Pros: None

Cons: The device fails to detect signals even when moved and setting mere feet from the router. Netgear no longer supports this item so when you contact them they tell you "tough luck" Contact NewEgg.

Other Thoughts: Never will I buy netgear again, and also this has me leery of the deals newegg is offering. How many other items are old and out of warranty before they are even sold?

1 out of 5 eggsNetRear support not available since 2011

Pros: PCI adapter.?. that shows the age of the product.
Am able to use the antenna Dual Connector on my old Asus card that I was trying to improve! Believe it did improve as I always have 5 bars and the router is upstairs!

Cons: Does not work with 7 64bit.
Support not available since 2011 manufacturing halting (I guess I can understand why netRear discontinued manufacture).
Consistently Dropped connection. When win7 sleeps, time consuming to make the adapter connect again! (My Asus 15 does not have that problem. EVER.

1 out of 5 eggsvery disappointed

Pros: none

Cons: number 1 issue is not reliable.
number 2 issue is that with bulky antenna it still can not connect to Netgear router just 2 feet away. I was too busy to fix this, so after one month or so I bought Asus n56u, still no luck with this card, though all the other wifi cards in various pads or laptops are working fine. Finally with FC20 and installed kmod_wl, it connects but the speed is unbelievably slow.
now tried to use its antenna with another card, it does not show any improvement of signal strength.

Other Thoughts: total waste of material.
probably will never buy netgear anymore.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy on sale

Pros: Nice antenna, good range and speed **with the right driver, download went from 7mbps to about 11 upstairs here, almost as good as the repeater I have set up **see Other thoughts

Cons: PCI, most motherboards these days will require a PCIx 1x slot so I had to use it in one of my older machines.

Other Thoughts: I love how these other reviews says to find the right driver and don't tell you where so here: Broadcom_wifi_5.100.196.18-win.zip 03/19/2012 can be found on the site driver-wireless dot com where I downloaded and it scanned clean with Avast and Hitman Pro, though I'm sure other sites will host it. BTW using the Update Drivers in Device Manager in Win 7 does NOT work, I just uninstalled it and ran setup.exe.

4 out of 5 eggsWas what I was looking for sort of

Pros: Great connection, solid transmission, low ping, fast, and adaptable to new placements.

Cons: I usually like using the standard device software rather than windows but it seems kind of clunky compared to newer software designed for windows vista or 7. Seems like it was made for XP or below.

Other Thoughts: Was actually looking for a PCIE x1 card but my fault for not paying enough attention to the specifications of the device but still no less usable than any other. Lesson learned moving on.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a good gamble

Pros: Looks interesting.

Cons: Difficult set up. Design didn't provide any improved performance to justify the added installation of the external antenna.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Trash

Pros: None at all. Seriously.

Cons: When we did get 3 different ones to work on a computer the Netgear drivers were terribly slow. Otherwise the computer refused to post. After digging for 6+ straight hours of working came to realize that Netgear just makes unsupported pieces of trash and misrepresents them. This will not work on a gaming computer so do not be confused. Its best support is with Win Vista x64 not Window 7 x64 or above. Save your money and go with D-Link or at least someone else that understands the meaning of the term support.

Other Thoughts: My company will never but Netgear again. I have spent 2-3 times my time working on computers with them and it always boils down to support issues. They should really just pack in or shape up.

1 out of 5 eggsConstant dropped

Pros: Antenna looks awesome, but this useless because inside that actual antenna is small.

Cons: I had it 4 years ago and I was not statified because too many dropped connection with Linksys router.

3 out of 5 eggsWonky card to use if you have x64 OS

Pros: Was looking at this card, though it would be nice as a AP home brew router or for a longer range wifi connection. It will work on linux though you will not get support from netgear to do it. Most versions of linux made within the last year or two should have support built in to the core or you can go directly to broadcom and find a driver.

Cons: It is pretty well documented that this card's native drivers do not work with a 64 bit os unless you jump through some hoops. Below is a message from Netgear on the subject.

I understand that you are waiting for a WN311B driver that would work on a Windows 7 (64Bit) operating system.

Unfortunately we do not know the release dates of the said drivers. As an alternative solution to this you can try using other NETGEAR wireless adapters, we have the WG111v3, WNA1000, or WN111v2 all having drivers for Windows 7 (64Bit).

I hope that the steps provided above would help resolve the problem. Please feel free to contact us again if you will require further assistance.

They still have not released a 64 bit version the latest available version which is version 7.1 was created around 2008 so don't expect any updates. You can try using drivers for other cards but this will not guarantee it to work.

Other Thoughts: The chipset used is a Broadcom BCM4321

Since the support is so poor I will not be purchasing this even at a shell shocker price I would rather spend a few bucks more and get an atheros chipset product.
