3 out of 5 eggsethernet sockets iffy

Pros: cool little switch with lots of features. does what is says.

Cons: well... weirdest things... socket connectivity fails... meaning there will be times where I have to twist and wiggle the wires in the sockets so they sit "just the right way" otherwise "no cable detected". tried a ton of different cables... not an issue with the RJ's def an issue with the sockets.. sort of disappointing for an otherwise awesome little switch

Other Thoughts: would NOT buy again due RJ to socket issue

Pros: I have used a ton of these for all different applications at home and at work, they work great.

1 out of 5 eggsgreat switch but cheap Chinese power supplies fail often

Pros: Switch itself works great

Cons: Cheap 12v Chinese power supply is putting out 14.4 very after 8 months causing switch to lockup twice a week.

5 out of 5 eggsRock solid switch

Pros: This switch is rock solid, I have never had any problems with it. I have never had to reset it because it locked up. The physical construction is solid and won't break easily of something falls on it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's a simple switch, the only requirements I have are that it doesn't lock up constantly. This unit has not doe so yet, and the last one I had lasted about 6 years before it had at done it once.

3 out of 5 eggsNetgear 8 port switch partial failure

Pros: Plugged it in and it found my Netgear router. It worked flawlessly out of the box.

Cons: it worked just 2 weeks more than one year, and one port just stopped working. I use all 8 ports, so this hurt my network. I need all 8 ports.

Other Thoughts: I have used Netgear for many years, routers, switches and none of them have broken. So, this first failure(in one year) took me by surprise. I would have given a 5 star, but the relatively short lifespan put it down 2 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, works great

Pros: Fast, easy to setup, and can be placed nearly anywhere.

I've been using this for over a year now and there hasn't been a single issue. Gigabit transfers on the local network is sure worth this low cost.

Cons: 24-ports for this price would be awesome!

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: This little switch functions properly even after almost a year of abuse in my home office I am creating.

I like that it has a sturdy metal case. Well worth it especially since it was on sale at the time.

A great unmanaged switch.

Cons: none it does its job

Other Thoughts: Great little device if you need to give yourself some more connections on a small home network or around an office. These are dumb switches so put them behind a router and they will do their job.

1 out of 5 eggsBreaks in obscure ways

Pros: Metal case, sturdy construction

Cons: I had several of these break down after some time in extremely hard to diagnose scenarios. They'd still work, but bandwidth with some devices was extremely limited. Only swapped out the switch as a last resort, and it fixed the bandwidth issues in at least 3 cases.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Definitely good construction. Its a switch and works as expected

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The metal construction is a lot more stable than plastic desktop switches. This one doesn't move unless I really pull on an Ethernet cable.
