4 out of 5 eggsIf games didn't run faster, I'd revert back to Vista

Pros: Boots up faster.
Games run faster, where Empire Earth 2 on a non-OC'd I7 920 was the game tested.
No need to disable stuff in Services; only requires minor MS Config tweaks to start-up after installing stuff.
Applications generally run faster.

Cons: After doing Services and MS Config tweaks to Vista, it was a toss up whether I should buy Windows 7.
The price is a bit much, but it is nice to be able to run games on the highest graphics settings.
My main annoyance is that I can't drag folders to the edge of the screen to create tool bars. I used to organize icons into: left - programs, top - games and right - system.
It cost an egg and if I was allowed, it would have cost 1.5.

4 out of 5 eggsWindows Home

Pros: It's the cheapset windows 7 software for those who need the basic operating system without the extra features that are provied with OS that costs more $

Cons: I loaded Acronis 2010 and it worked for awhile and then stopped working. I re-loaded Acronis 2010 and everytime I opened the application, the window would be blank!!!

So I installed a older version of the software and then I was able to use the software

Sleep functionality seems to not work peroperly on the Home Edition compared to the Professional / Ultimate edition of Windows 7

Other Thoughts: If the issues I listed in the cons were resolved, I would give it a 5 egg, but it feels like Microsoft wants us to by the more expensive version of the OS.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the money, but not without flaws.

Pros: Boots up like a Bugatti!
Runs a bit faster and that's without me tweaking Services and MS Config, yet.
Supposedly better multi-core processing; I haven't tested a video game on it, yet.
More desktop space, GUI is more functional, most features that were removed weren't that useful.

Cons: I used to organize icons into three folders that I would then drag to the edge of the desktop, thus making a tool-bar.
Left: Programs, Top: Games and Right: System Tools.
I did this so that launching anything takes one double-click, while still being easy to find.
I knocked an egg off because I can't do this anymore.
I'd sacrifice a bit of performance just to have it back!

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm pretty happy with this purchase, but I hope they'll allow me to download the tool-bar feature online or through the Update Manager.

5 out of 5 eggsloving it

Pros: super smooth...love having 64 bit...def the way to go....have xp32 bit on old system......can't even compare... so far so good...like the layout....had trouble with drivers but that blame goes to the other hardware manufactures...but windows 7 does try to help you with that......

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none
