Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system for homes with advanced computer needs. It will help you use your laptop or desktop PC more effectively as well as enable you to enjoy new, exciting digital entertainment experiences—all with the benefit of added security and reliability.

In addition to all previously released updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards. SP1 also continues to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista. Service Packs are not intended to be a vehicle for releasing significant new features or functionality; however some existing components do gain slightly enhanced functionality in SP1 to support industry standards and new requirements.

5 out of 5 eggsTwo OS in price of One !!

Pros: I purchased Vista with free upgrade to windows 7. I used the Vista on My desktop and used the upgrade on my Vista Laptop ! Hence this product offer helped me to upgrade two computers in USD 110 !

Cons: No Cons...

Other Thoughts: This is first time I have purchased an OS and that too on the launch of operating system and I am very happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggsOutdated already?!

Pros: I held on to XP for a long time. I finally tried Vista and I have to say I like it. This disc came with a free upgrade coupon for Windows 7 (which I ordered and it arrived in a week), but I'm not sure that I'm ready to abandon Vista yet.

Cons: Compliancy issues. Some of my "old" hardware wouldn't work with Vista. My three year old printer had to be replaced and my phone modem (y'know, for faxing) was tossed. W7 seems to have resolved this, but I'm Vista compliant now, so why change OS?

Other Thoughts: I have two computers running Vista 32 bit, one running Vista 64 bit, one XP machine and another on Ubuntu. XP's run it's course and Ubuntu is just a hobby. Vista is what I choose to use every day. I was searching through a box in the basement yesterday and found an unopened Windows 98 disc and manual. Maybe I'll install that in something. Nah, maybe not.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's not Windows XP. I cannot understand why anyone would want to have Windows ME, whoops I mean Windows XP, when they could have the awesome experience of Windows Vista. Unlike Windows XP, Vista is rock solid stable and blazing fast. It has been since the public RC 1 version. Vista is also the most secure desktop OS ever created (at least it was until Windows 7 went live).

Cons: It's not as stable and fast as Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: People need to stop complaining about Vista's system requirements. If your computer can't run Windows Vista it probably has severely outdated hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsquick and painless

Pros: After it is done updating, it works perfectly. Superfetch works better than XP's Prefetch does. Sidebar is fun. Installs and runs Folding @ Home in one go.

Cons: For some reason what is indicated as 90% signal strength/90% link quality of wireless signal in XP is 50/85 in Vista. The exact same adapter with its own driver disk used on both machines. Driver rated for both OS.

Other Thoughts: Uses 650MB of RAM at startup vs. 202 with XP. running: AMD 5600+ 2.8Ghz Windsor core, 2GB of 800Mhz RAM, 750GB WD Scorpio HD (32MB cache), 8800GT 512MB, Asus dvd drive. Entire system rates 5.9 except the CPU is 5.3. Device Manager thinks both drives are SCSI, LOL.

5 out of 5 eggsDirty

Pros: Excellent, Got mine today 10/29. It does come with a printed voucher that you use to order a hard copy of windows7 upgrade. I wont get mine until Dec9, but that's ok, I'm still rocking Win7 Ultimate RC.
I also have to add that I have had Vista and it is JUNK, that aside Win7 is FAR better. Very stable and faster than XP on my machine. Though it has the same kernel basically as Vista, IE no direct audio, it is far better and has excellent driver support, though my hardware is almost a year old.

Cons: NewEgg tech support did not know how this works. They thought it would be an option during install. it actually comes with a printed voucher that gives you a special web page to go to and a redemption key that you use to order a Win7 upgrade DVD.

Other Thoughts: Win7 Rocks My Socks, but my AMD processor did not like Win7 RC 64bit. Not 100% sure if it really is my processor, or my motherboard. But one of them was not happy with it.

2 out of 5 eggslets hope 7 is not a repeat

Pros: ooohhh ahhh looks promising hey its not as bland as XP. ok thats it for the pros.

Cons: where to start?? acpi &acpi2.0 seems to have major issues with the sleep thing as noted by cnet.com i think it to be sad 30 days after the initial release a sp1 was required to improve stability. this ver. of windows does NOT play nice with anything had to wait 2 months for a driver for my wireless. se la vie lets hope they got the next one right.

Other Thoughts: i am not a big supporter of private code. duhh. really folks how many times do we hear the s"S.O.S." windows virus this windows hackers did this.??yet linux and mac sit quietly on the sidelines with millions of happy customers. BUT i do see a trend here a new system is out and we all run to the big box to get a new pc.. admittedly im gonna try win 7 but its the last time im PAYING to use my pc..

Pros: It's pretty stable. Getting the free upgrade to 7 isn't bad either. Finally gave up XP and am not looking back.

Cons: Had to learn how to use it. It's much simpler than XP, so it didn't take long.

Other Thoughts: It's a good OS. It's more stable than XP. No really, it is more stable. Since I made the switch I've had no crashes at all (except when I pushed the overclocking a little too far ;)
