Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system for homes with advanced computer needs. It will help you use your laptop or desktop PC more effectively as well as enable you to enjoy new, exciting digital entertainment experiences—all with the benefit of added security and reliability.

In addition to all previously released updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards. SP1 also continues to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista. Service Packs are not intended to be a vehicle for releasing significant new features or functionality; however some existing components do gain slightly enhanced functionality in SP1 to support industry standards and new requirements.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: I have only been using it for a couple of hours so I do not have any great thoughts. It does seem pretty zippy.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I got all new stuff and am hoping to get three years out of this Windows 7 and Intel i7 CPU. Six Gb of GSkill memory and a Sparkle nVidia card and all is well.

Pros: Software is stable and works well, its an operating system that 7 is going to copy in many ways so what does that tell you?

4 out of 5 eggsHorrible...

Pros: In spite of all the things Microsoft did wrong, it DOES work.

Cons: If you can't change it for the better, just change the names of the same old functions. Hoodwink us? One example...Right click on the desktop. It say "Personalize". This is the exact same function that on XP said "Properties". Shame on you Microsoft.

Other Thoughts: I have been told that I should have waited for 7. I can't wait. I need my computer now. And right now this is the best available.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is...

Pros: Easy to install for beginning enthusiasts. Well priced for now.

Cons: None specific.

Other Thoughts: Just an operating system. Need at least this version--64bit--to utilize enough ram for gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsgood to gp

Pros: Good looking GUI. Fast and stable. I love DirectX10 and everything runs fine on my system. It seems to be faster than XP.

Cons: Not everything is compatible with this. I had to get a new sound card because drivers didnt work for it. Other than that, nothing.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from XP to a 32-bit Vista to this. Noticed a difference everytime. My system hauls a*s now :)

1 out of 5 eggsVista???

Pros: The GUI looks pretty neat that's all I can really think about.

Cons: Nothing but problems, windows wont update correctly, BSOD while surfing the internet, nothing wants to cooperate with Vista. Overall my vista experience isn't going so well.

Other Thoughts: I heard all the horror stories about vista and now I see why. I am having nothing but problems with this operating system. I should of waited for Windows 7.

Buy with caution.

My drivers are all up to date.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than XP!

Pros: This is 100% better than Windows XP. It has more stability, it is more up to date, and it has fancy DX10 and 11 when it comes out.

Cons: It's a problem with my ram, NOT Vista. It locks up on certain games, like GTA IV, or Crysis Warhead (Regular Crysis runs fine).

Other Thoughts: I would rather have this than Windows 7 anyday.

2 out of 5 eggsMaybe some day I will love you, but not today

Pros: Dos huevos, por favor? Cause its reeel pwerty!!

Its BSOD on me only a couple times, but I was tweaking some RAM settings. So that was my fault

Cons: I've been doing support since WinNT. I find it hard to love this OS. When XP came around it was like wow this is the bomb-diggity compared to NT. Can we still say bomb-diggity? The drivers were easy to find and you didn't have to reboot seemingly every time you do any configuration changes. Sure there are issues with drivers for Vista, which is understandable because of its Microsoft. What do you expect? They keep guys like me employed. If you must get this OS, please have a decent system. This means that you shouldn't need to look at the System Requirements, cause if you do, you probably should upgrade your hardware first. This thing sucks resources like this girl I used to know. (I meant money you pervs!!) If Vista was even close to being as intuitive as XP, it would be flying off the shelves. Do you remember ever hearing that XP sucks? Okay so it needed a SP. *cough* Microsoft. Unfortunately, one needs to upgrade hardware to handle Vista. This seems rather backwards.

Other Thoughts: misc. thoughts

"I should've bought XP 64"

"Wait for 7 and hope for the "best" from MS"

"be legit in your licensing, Bill needs a new pair of shoes"

"MS, please continue making stuff like this. I need a raise."
