Sanyo puts HD video recording in the palm of your hand. The VPC-HD2000 is a palm-sized recorder that can shoot full 1080p video and will also work as an 8MP still camera. It uses SD and SDHC cards for storage so you can pack a lot of footage into a small space. With a 16GB SDHC card you can record 2hr 11min of Full HD video or you can take over the web with 41hr 19min of recordings.

An auto-focus lens and 10x optical zoom combine to give you clear pictures at any distance. A 2.7" TFT LCD screen lets you see exactly what you are shooting with its 100% coverage. All the controls are easily accessible on the thumb pad and joystick.

When you get back home or to the hotel you can insert the camera into its docking cradle and hook it up to the TV through an HDMI interface. You can also insert the memory card into your computer. Either way you'll see that great things come in small packages.

2 out of 5 eggsMy Camera is DOA after 4 months, NO HELP FROM SANYO

Pros: Great Low light, Clear HD Video, 1080 @60P

Cons: Electronic image stabilization is useless, 1080@60P REQUIRES a superfast computer (quad-core with over 4GB of RAM) my core2 duo does not cut it. Needs to last longer than 4 months!!

Other Thoughts: My HD2000 also had a strange red vertical line that would appear on the video and LCD. Dissapears when I zoom or shoot @ 720P. But later a new problem developed, it no longer records and locks up. I bought GREY MARKET, and now have been told to send it in for repairs that I must pay for. Very Dissappointed Customer!

2 out of 5 eggsSanyo Xacti HD2000 BD R

Pros: Camera works just fine.

Cons: Camera came with defective lens cap. On contacting Sanyo Canada they are refusing to warrant this camera in any way due the fact this model is not for sale in North America. The camera designation number should end with an "A" and nothing else.
Newegg advised me that whatever country the camera comes from will provide the Sanyo warranty; therefore you may end up shipping the camera all the way back to a country like Japan or Korea for example.

Other Thoughts: Call the manufacturer of the product prior to making a purchase from Newegg.
Also, Newegg asked me to return the whole camera if I wanted the lens cap issue rectified instead of shipping me out a proper lens cap.

4 out of 5 eggsThink Twice

Pros: Small, fair quality stills, good quality video, good ergonomics, good battery life, good low light performance. Great all-around camera.

Cons: This model (VPC-HD2000EX) is a gray market item not under Sanyo U.S. warranty. High frame rate (240 and 600) video modes have too small images. Occasional (almost random) vertical red stripe damages some video segments; also reported by users on other sites.

Other Thoughts: From Sanyo: The U.S. model of this camera is the VPC-HD2000ABK. The authorized distributors for this model are: [deleted]

4 out of 5 eggsGood camera, but I'm having some problems with it

Pros: Very good sensitivity in low light.
Highest definition video on the market (1080p 60fps)
Color in pictures is very good.
Manual controls
Integrated flash
External mic and earphones jacks
Docking station is very convenient

Cons: Definition is too high, my PS3 cannot handle it. My computer can't handle it either, although You can transcode the video to make it playable in PS3 or computer.
Pictures in low light are grainy.
Auto-focus is low some times.

Other Thoughts: I've had this camera for 3 weeks now. When i purchased it i also purchased a 16GB SD card. After one week, the card failed, so i returned it to new egg to have it replaced. I already had a 4GB SD card, i started using it with the camera... but now these card failed!. I've had this card for more than one year and never failed, until i used it with the camcorder, i think there's an issue with the card reader.

5 out of 5 eggsWill their warranty in the US be honored?

Pros: Rated as one of the best cameras on respected website(s). Fantastic low light sensitivity. Cool high FPS modes.

Cons: Complex menu & digital stabilization vs optical.

Other Thoughts: Last I checked (2 mos ago), Sanyo wasn't offering this in the US because of warranty issues (no replacement parts in the US). I contacted the Sanyo office and got ahold of the right people to discuss availability. I'll be making another call to ensure they will service it/honor the warranty in the US. If so, I'm most likely to buy it.
