1 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 64-Bit Drivers are Unstable

Pros: Great sound, when it works properly.

Cons: Unfortunately, many Windows 7 64-bit users, including myself, are finding out the hard way that a great piece of hardware is only as good as its drivers. When you can get it to install, it destabilizes the entire system, causing blue screens of death, and other nasty stuff. Typically, the drivers hang on install, and don't seem to be able to the card at all.

Other Thoughts: These unstable drivers have been probelmatic for many users for months, and still, Omega hasn't upgraded their drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent sound!!

Pros: So far this is my favorite part of my new computer. I do produce music on my computer and this sound card so far has been more than up to the job of playing multiple sounds at the all over the spectrum. Instructions were excellent and drivers were a breeze.

Cons: The writting on the back plate is hard to read and inverted once installed. I didnt see this as a big problem since it isn't a problem that will last longer than installation.

Other Thoughts: just read the manual to figure out which port is for which speaker. it makes it much easier

3 out of 5 eggsNot terribly stable on Windows 7x64

Pros: DTS 7.1 at a good price, good sound, coax & optical out.

Cons: 16-bit sound only, not 24-bit. W7 drivers do not come in the box, but are available online. The latest version is .81740, and they don't seem terribly stable. Playing Oblivion & Fallout 3, I've gotten both games to crash, sometimes within 15 minutes, when they were otherwise perfectly stable with my system. Also, if you click on the windows audio controls and play around with them, you can override the DTS 8 channel output and get stuck in stereo mode until you go back into the cMedia console again. Doom 3 doesn't even recognize it as anything but 2 channels.

Other Thoughts: I'm probably going to send this back unless something changes. Unfortunately I can't recommend this sound card for a gaming rig, while this is definitely not the kind of interface for recording. For a DAWs there are far better options out there for not that much more (although you tend to find the best ones on music stores - emu 1212 is a good option under $200). This card might be good for HT and listening to music, but if you're doing that, wouldn't you rather have 24-bit audio? meh not in pressed...Somebody tell me what i'm doing wrong here, and I'll be happy to update my review, but I have a feeling it's the drivers, not me.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Audio Quality!
The sound quality is grand.
Impressive audio quality, easy to use and navigate interface for configuring your i/o and audio environment.

Quality construction, this card is solid and slick.
Very nice looking.

Front Audio header - get actual use from your front panel audio i/o on that case you love so much, which has so far, just collected dust or delivered poor on board sound In all its horror.

10 Ft optical Audio cable! (sweet bonus and like the card great quality)

Cons: None that I find as a con for the the card itself.

Other Thoughts: This card, I am VERY pleased to say was the final death blow to a not so creative monster of poor audio products for me.

I have about terabyte of music, which includes more cds than I can remember buying, digital downloads and the like.
My records, cassettes, and yes even 8-Track cassettes, which I ripped to high quality loss-less formats over the past few years all sound amazing.
Yey warm and fuzzy lowend!

I was not much of a fan of the packing material excess, seems a lot of excess cardboard.
On the flip side, I am very pleased that they did not bury the card in plastic casing and foam/plastic padding.

HT Omega has claimed a spot in my personal builds in the future and builds for my customers.

3 out of 5 eggsOK but defective

Pros: 7.1 out, Dolby Digital, DTS. and it is a good sound card, the sound is better comparing to supremefx and z5500
New Win7 drivers avaliable so driver problem is no more.

Cons: jacks are not color coded but gold plated instead.. Knocked one star out for that, poor fit into the case also.
Another star knocked because MIC IN is not working on my card. Just send email to ht omega

Other Thoughts: Asus Crosshair 2 with TV Card Hauupage PCI-e (small) makes top PCI-E16x unusable. HT Omega in PCI-E in middle, makes middle PCI-e16x unusable. NO SLI for ME.
DD and DTS on the card or on my Logitech Z5500. To use Z5500 must use DIGITAL out either on the card or onboard sound. Before the card I used supremefx onboard digital out to z5500 but games DD do not work that way for some reason, hence why I purchased the card.
Also what threw me off was the EQUALIZERazation. which means that z5500 is tuned for itself so it sounds good with the speaker sizes it uses. HT Omega doesn't know what sound sytem you have so it sounded flat and weak first time I connected analog out to z5500. Basically the bass was gone but after little tuning the card is amazing and z5500 will never be able to do that, which is make things on my desk vibrate even at low volumes and this card does. now if only MIC in worked.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card!

Pros: Solid soundcard for gamers and people who enjoy music. I will not get into brand bashing here, but the more popular brand of sound card had left me unhappy with thier treatment of thier customers (google it if your interested), and I was very glad to have an alternative brand. I have been very satisfied by the performance of this card.

Cons: Did not work properly with generic Vista drivers(wrong speakers would be driven), problem corrected as soon as supplied drivers were installed.

Other Thoughts: I have this soundcard connected to a set of Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 THX speakers (the analog set)

3 out of 5 eggsa bit disappointed

Pros: Awesome construction. I got this mounted directly below my Radeon 5850 and there's no interference at all. HT Omega's tech support is awesome (see other thoughts). even in 16bit mode it sound better than most.

Cons: The drivers are still in development for windows 7. You can only get this to work as a 16 bit 48KHz card in win7 64. I emailed HT Omegas tech support and it seems that you will only get full functionality in windows XP. the lazy d-bags at C-Media haven't updated the win7 driver in well over a year. It's bull. But I've decided to keep it and wait for an update.

Other Thoughts: HT Omega's tech support assured me that they are nagging C-Media to death about an updated driver, He offered to let me wait for the update for several months, and if none showed up he would give me a full refund on the card.

The HT Omega Claro has fully functional win7 drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: Clarity and quality. Best support of any computer product manufacturer. They drive my Mackies (MR5 & MR8), Behringer Sub, and Behringer MS-20s very well. And, they are just fine with my Audio-Technica ATH-A700 and ATH-M50 cans with ease. I run one of these in both of my DAWs and to power my home stereo setup.

Cons: Not even one.

Other Thoughts: Do you think I have bought 7 of these because I like bad sound? Yup, put them in 7 builds...with a Claro HALO in one other. If you notice, most of the bad reviews are by people who don't know how to install hardware and software...and those who started out by buying the wrong card in the 1st place. The drivers are great, for all OS. Don't ask any lame questions, just buy this and follow the instructions...you will NOT be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: great sound, easy install, simple drivers and software, not creative

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Such a great card, the audio quality is great. The perfect addition to a htpc or an audiophile's computer. Been listening non stop through my grado sr225s, ath-ad700s, Se530s, and my monitors and they are simply wonderful. Do yourself a favor and switch to this if you're coming from onboard audio.

3 out of 5 eggsNot worthy for guitar/MIDI.

Pros: The card was fine for mp3/normal sound. Your typical everyday stuff it could do just fine, and I never got to really test the card to its fullest potential in this regard. Could be a fantastic card; dunno. The customer service was excellent too. Very fast responses (within 1 day, even on weekends. Once on a friday night, even!)

Cons: I bought this card for use with my guitar and MIDI software. The awesome environmental effects (various echos/reverbs like "sewer," "mountain tops," "auditorium," etc) would not adapt to my guitar (plugged directly into line-in). So for me, strike one. Also, the stock MIDI sound was fairly weak: a low-end General MIDI font. And I couldn't tweak it to improve it. And it cracked often as I played MIDI files for when I was writing music w/ MIDI programs. Strikes two, three, and four; you're out. So this was a couple steps down from my old Audigy Sound Blaster of almost 8 years ago. Although I suppose it's my fault for not doing the research. Still, not terribly musician-friendly, in these regards.

Other Thoughts: Card was fine for the other basic purposes, and I must reiterate the prompt and wonderful help of the tech support (although ever so slightly broken english).
