4 out of 5 eggsNice and cheap

Pros: Its Black
Didn't need to install any drivers as windows 8 did it for me.
I Spent 5 bucks more for the box instead of the OEM version so i now have a cool box.

Cons: kind of big pcb for what it is, makes you think how a small chip soldered on the motherboard can output almost the same quality audio.

The driver disk contains junk bloatware.

Other Thoughts: Once you plug it into your pci slot and fire up the pc it will be running automatically at a 7.1 setting so you might have to change windows audio settings to your correct setup or you wont hear character dialogue in your video games.

The only reason i bought it was because my current motherboard had audio problems and my first RMA was unsuccessful so i decided to pay my way to glory.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: These things are grand. Owned the 5.1ch surround sound one for something like 11 or 12 years before I needed to replace it. I'm also not sure it actually needed to be replaced either. I was having some trouble with something else, wondered if the 5.1 card might be the issue, and replaced it since it was nearly 12 years old.

Sound quality is wonderful.

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Card but...

Pros: Hardware wise. this card does what I want it to do.

Cons: Drivers...Creative has the worst drivers ever, and dated as hell. You'll have to go through some hoops to get this thing running correctly.

Other Thoughts: Knowing what I know now about it. I probably would of bought a Asus sound card or something but I was looking for something cheap, and I got what I paid for. Also if you are thinking about buying this card, to give you a heads up, you'll probly have to do some bio work disabling your on-board sound off which is easy and the hard part is getting your drivers that is now at least 4 years old for this card to install correctly. Seems that creative has pretty much stopped updating this card.

4 out of 5 eggsMy first soundcard

Pros: Great sound card for beginners. Great value. Better than the cheaper ones, and just the right price for something decent, but not over the top. Not too complicated to set up. Very clear sound, noticeable difference in sound quality. Overall good value.

Cons: The packaging could have been better (arrived in a yellow postal envelope without much protection). As a result of poor packaging, one of the resistors were slightly bent, but with patience and pressure, easy fix. I am new at sound cards, but not other hardware installation, and this was a little annoying to use it with programs like Skype. With a little tinkering and a reboot, easily fixed.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why they include driver cd's anymore, as your best bet is to simply download and install the most recent drivers from the company website (or use Windows' hardware driver update tool via Computer > Manage > Device Manager > Hardware in question).

4 out of 5 eggsI a nice card

Pros: -It is a nice card and sounds good on my headset... it seems like its deeper than the stereo if that makes any sense.
-Cheap
-looks pretty good in the system

Cons: -Not the best quality ever... It seems crisp to me(not sure if others know better cards better or can compare them but using headphones it seems fine)
-For some reason no games can use the card to play the extra good sound

Other Thoughts: really none other than that if you just want 7.1 surround sound then get this its not all that much better quality than realtek but you get the 7.1 and better bass in my opiniion

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Does not get much better than this card for the price

Cons: Sound blaster cards are notorious for having driver issues in any version of windows, but in linux they operate flawlessly. Not a reason for me specifically, that would warrant taking away an egg from the rating

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Cheap
-O.K. Sound, better than any Realtek for sure

Cons: -Not a true EMU10K2 chip
-No Hardware Acceleration (CPU does all the work, just like with Realtek...)
-

Other Thoughts: Get a used Audigy 2 card for $20 bucks, you'll be more satisfied with it.

4 out of 5 eggsNice card for the money

Pros: I have used this card in two PC's without any problems. Works fine with Windows 7 64 bit. Greatly improves onboard sound in volumn and quality

Cons: Most of the software works well, but you have to be very selective in what will be useful.

Other Thoughts: I haven't had a lot of experience with other brands, but creative does the job.
