5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy installation. Using this printer connected directly to the network in a Windows Domain environment.

Cons: Machine isn't as fast as some other HP product lines, but for the dollar amount this is a great buy.

1 out of 5 eggsPure junk

Pros: Small, Looks good

Cons: crashes print spooler
Won't print certain pdf format
Latest driver is 4 yrs old

Other Thoughts: This printer is pure junk. Wasted a day of setup of 40pc lan, only to finally conclude it just won't work properly. Had to replace it with a non-hp printer.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER FOR NETWROK USE!

Pros: It prints, most of the time.

Cons: No Windows Server 2008 R2 drivers!!! Makes it totally useless in a modern environment for anything, especially as a small workgroup printer.

Other Thoughts: HP tech support was and is horrid. I've been promised a "drvier is coming soon" for the last 6 months. Been slowly replacing my HP's with another brand which has all drier, current, right out of the box. If I could select no eggs I would based on HP support.

4 out of 5 eggsNot A Bad Printer

Pros: Easy to install and prints documents squarely on the page as intended. Does work with Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.7. Nice price for a network printer and is not too large to fit comfortably on a desk.

Cons: The paper tray selection can be a problem. Some programs attempt to print to letter sized paper, but the printer is not sure where to pull from to select that paper. This is a silly problem to have on a printer with one real tray.

Other Thoughts: I have to question the tech level of some of the other reviewers here. One states that this printer does not come with Windows 7 drivers. That is true, but they are not needed because the Windows 7 drivers for this printer are included with Windows. Another reviewer says that this printer comes with bloated HP software bundled. That is true if you install the drivers using HP's setup program, but someone with level five tech skills should have no trouble installing the drivers from the cd without using the hp setup program. Even if you use the HP setup program, an option in the program gives you the ability to easily install nothing else but the driver. The bottom line is that this is a good printer and I would recommend it for someone that needs a light duty printer for a small office with 1-3 users.

3 out of 5 eggsHP - Wake Up Call

Pros: It generally works OK. Support is very good, very dedicated.

Cons: 1) Why would you make a "flap" type paper holder your default/tray 1? What were you thinking? This causes extra work to get all the various programs used to print to the right drawer. Also, getting cheaper. Make it like the old 1200/1300 series. Small footprint, rugged.

Other Thoughts: I guess HP figured people kept the printers too long and needed to make them cheaper. I'll pay an extra 100 to 200 bucks not to have to mess with failing printers. Jack up the price and give us your old quality or I.T. people will/are looking elswhere.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: Its a decent printer but not designed for work use, read below.

Cons: No Win7 support! No WinServer drivers! This is a huge problem when trying to run Terminal Services or something, you cant get any drivers to work on the host machine, Server03/08! Eventually i got it working with Win7, but windows auto-update couldnt find a driver, had to install a universal driver for another printer. Dont buy this if its for a work environment, you will run into way to many incompatibility issues.

Other Thoughts: I feel totally duped by HP on this printer. All of our other LaserJets have been great work horses and abut the same price (1320's)

Its a printer for home use if you dont use win7...

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The printer does print.

Cons: Installation, drive issues etc. The software for this thing stinks we had all kinds of troubles getting it installed in one of our offices. The drivers just plain stink, I was all excited to use the universal driver but it also disappointed. After fighting and trying a ton of different drivers we did get every machine to print. It now freezes up about ones ever few months or so and needs to be powered down.

Other Thoughts: I have moved from HP for a few years now but we decided to give them another chance. Wow did it fail. Going back to Brother and for budget friendly black and white going with the Samsung ML-2851ND which so far has performed great (and easy as pie install)

4 out of 5 eggsGood Cheap Reliable

Pros: Good, reliable workhorse. I use this printer to print heavy labels, and placards. Print regular paper quickly. Restarts not required often. Light weight and looks nice.

Cons: expensive cartridges, that don't last long. (2055 holds longer lasting toner) Gets hot sometimes and slows printing.

Other Thoughts: overall good for heavy use, but not industrial

5 out of 5 eggsOur new default printer purchase

Pros: Fast, quiet, works. We bought one of these to replace an aging printer and liked it so much it has become our company's default printer purchase. With more than a dozen of these now, I can't recall a single paper jam, or any problem really. Easy to setup, easy to manage, just easy.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The only thing I would add, aside from color :p, would be an LCD display so you can change network settings after you forgot to before moving the printer.
