4 out of 5 eggsGreat MFC for a Great Price

Pros: 11x17 Scanning & Printing, Network Scanning & Printing.

Cons: None So Far.

Other Thoughts: This is a great MFC!. I was having a lot of trouble trying to find a unit that scanned multiple 11 x 17 or even printed 11 x 17. This unit does both. I spend a lot of time researching things before I buy them, it certainly paid off this time. I use it with MAC and it works great. Definitely buy if you are in the Market for a good MFC that scans and prints 11 x 17.

5 out of 5 eggsI am very Impressed, goodbye HP

Pros: I can say that this printer has some great features when compared to what you pay. It is really a commercial grade printer and not ideal for home. This is one of the reasons the printer is so big and heave.

Cons: Weight

Other Thoughts: The only thing I can say is that I am sorry it took me this long to find this one. I hope it delivers in the future. By the way I am buying another one as we speak...

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Probably the most beautiful multifunction printer I've ever owned. Fast, efficient on ink especially with photo prints. Well worth the price tag and the scanner is wonderful for my girlfriends art projects. She loves it and I would definitely recommend this to others.

Cons: This thing is MASSIVE and HEAVY so lift with your legs if you're moving it.

Does NOT come with a USB cable which was seriously ridiculous considering the cost of this thing.

Nothing serious to take away any eggs.

Other Thoughts: I think the manufacturer or at least newegg should include a type B USB cable. It hindered my ability to test this thing out right away. The touch screen was not expected and pretty accurate to touch unlike most I've tested.

5 out of 5 eggsA Best Buy for the $$

Pros: Smooth operation. Scan quality is excellent. True full Duplex scanning, copying & printing. 11x17 print capability. Two large-capacity trays. Ink cartridges last a long time. Wireless works fine.

Cons: Not the best Photo Printer but I didn`t bought it for that.

Other Thoughts: Big foot print but save a lot of space with this MFC because I replaced 4 old machines (Fax, printer, scanner & copier).

5 out of 5 eggsGood Printer

Pros: Good Overall Printer. I use wired LAN and VOIP. Bought to print 11x17 for CAD and needed a FAX for business (some businesses still use them, WHY?). Set up easy with both Mac and Win7. There was some FAX issues, but think it's more VOIP than the Brother MFC. Overall good printer for the price.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: She has an 11x17 glass for scan or copy, so make such you have the space on a sturdy table. Manual paper feed slot is on the back. You, I can, stand in front a feed paper. Just make sure you don't have a close overhanging shelf and have light to see what you're doing.

5 out of 5 eggsNice - and does 11X17 at this price... YAY!

Pros: Setup as a wireless was super easy. From opening the box to succesful test page was 45 minutes, possibly a litte faster since I moved new piece of furniture to accomodate mid-way through.

Cons: none yet

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive scanner with free built-in printer

Pros: Scan quality is excellent. I scan mostly business graphics and text, and some scans are actually more legible than the originals.

This device has true duplex scanning. Paper goes through the automatic document feeder just once, and both sides are captured. The output can be saved to a network drive without anyone being logged in anywhere. Be aware that scans that are processed without anyone being logged in anywhere are not automatically straightened. And the PDFs made this way are not searchable.

Scanning is fast. Saving with CIFS is surprisingly slow. Both saving with FTP and also e-mail delivery are much faster, but both require extra button pushes on the touch screen.

Scans can also be saved to an attached USB storage. USB storage is exported via a built-in FTP server. It is a little slow, but really useful.

The ink is cheap and plentiful and lasts a long time. This keeps total cost of ownership down even for low monthly print volume.

Cons: Photo printing, while still high quality, is less than perfect - especially in dark areas.

The non-printable left margin on standard US envelopes is huge. This is well documented in the manual.

Support for Internet fax and e-mail delivery doesn’t come pre-installed; rather, it is a free download from the manufacturer’s website. It works even if your SMTP server requires you to log in.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to scan more than you print, you will find that this is an exceptional five star device. Even if you don't scan that much, you will still like it.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Printer for the $$

Pros: Smooth operation; duplex copying, printing, and scanning; two large-capacity trays, no expiration on cartridges, ink cartridges last a long time.

Cons: Fax receive can't be more than 4 rings, printing isn't quite as dark as lasers.

Other Thoughts: I've been a die-hard HP fan since the LaserJet III. Each generation of HP printers seemed to get more finicky, though, and it was always *my* fault: the paper was too thin/thick/old, the humidity was wrong, etc. The last straw was when HP started 'stale-dating' cartridges and I had to throw out perfectly good ink!

This Brother printer has none of those issues -- it just works, page after page. The ink dries quickly, the scan-to-PDF function is straightforward to use, it sends and receives faxes, and the duplexer has yet to jam. I've had one firmware update so far, and it was easy to perform. The Windows drivers work fine in Win7 x64, and actually haven't needed any updates. The ink cartridges last a long time.

The only downsides I can see are: 1) the auto-ring feature on the fax can't be set to more than 4 rings; and 2) I wish the print was a little darker -- it's far from unusable, but not 'laser dark.

I actually give this printer 4.5 stars, but NewEgg doesn't do halv

5 out of 5 eggsNice multi-function machine!!!

Pros: Duplex printing/scanning, 11x17 print capability!!!! Great if you are using AutoCAD and need to print your drawings. Have no use for the fax as you can scan documents and email easily.

Cons: So far, black ink cartridge is first to go dry but did print alot. Good thing is ink can be had for a relatively cheap price.

Other Thoughts: Needed printing and scanning capability at a reasonable price. Got this on sale and have not regretted the decision. Good machine for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far a Great Printer

Pros: I bought the printer mainly for the auto-duplex scanning function. I am try to eliminate the need for a filing cabinet, so I have a ton of paperwork to scan. I rarely print anything, but didn't want to buy a standalone duplex scanner. The print quality is fine, I've only printed a few documents- I never print photos. The ink cartridges are reasonably priced, I usually replace them due to age, not because they're empty. Brother's Android App seems to work nicely. The printer was easy to set up on my wireless network. I really like that I can scan directly to a USB flash drive or SD card inserted in the printer, so I don't have to use my laptop until I'm ready to archive the PDFs. It holds more paper than I'll use in a year. The scan function is great, it will even handle larger real estate documents in the auto document feeder.

Cons: It doesn't have a small footprint. But for something that scans 11x17, I didn't expect it to. This could be a concern for some. I haven't used the 3rd party software that came with it, so I can't speak to that though I'm not really a fan when you have to install a ton of junk that runs in the background and eats resources. Duplex scanning isn't fast, but I can load a bunch into the document feeder, hit the button and walk away.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. I was happy to catch a great deal and get it for $215 plus $3 shipping. A steal at that price, given it's functionality.
