I even used it on an older USB 2.0 desktop without a hiccup. Cons: None, ok a lower price would be better. I don't know if the previous reviewers got a bad drive, outdated firmware (I always check and update mine), bad media or if it is a case of user error, but this is by far the best burner I have owned. I have made 0 coasters and have thusfar burned several DVD-DL (my old drives used to make coasters all the time) and BD-R. Other Thoughts: I decided to submit my review because I think it is misrepresented by the other 4 reviews. I bought this drive after a few online reviews and drive comparisons. I wanted an external Bluray burner to use with my Dell Precision M6600 so I could backup my customers' data on something bigger than DVD-DL. Did you find this review helpful? Its shiny so lots of fingerprints. it can only burn to two types of DL BD 50GB and doesnt do a good job at that. Support stinks and replies with usless information. I have the external and internal models. I use this one by the esata conection I have on my Toshiba qosmio 880. This thing is quite. Also it comes with cyber link power dvd 10 siut with Power2go v6 . I upgraded to power20 7 for $23.00 even though I don't like cyberlink at all becuase of bad bad customer service. Any way I have burned about 50 dvd+r dl and have not yet had any coasters or bad burns. I will updatethis review in the future. Cons: None yet. Other Thoughts: I have to say I held of buying this when it was just out and costing $229.95. I knew it would go down but I gave in and bought it. Well sure enough I set it up start using it at about an at about 2:oo am I check it out at newegg to see the specs and the price dropped to $189.00.
