5 out of 5 eggsHoooray

Pros: Great/Solid Drive! I use my DVD-R Drive ALL THE TIME and at $24 who can complain? Unless you've got no burning software or cables, Dont waste time on the Retail Packaging.

Cons: No Extras but thats why the Drive is sold as OEM, duh

Other Thoughts: Great Drive, Great Price, Great Performance, Not a single write error on my Movie Rips

1 out of 5 eggsNice paper-weight

Pros: Can't come up with any, really.

Cons: Coasters just about all DVD burns, loud.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I just got a defective unit, but this thing is terrible. I've used multiple brands/makes of double layer DVDs and got maybe 1 or 2 usable burns. Epic FAIL.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Dissapointed

Pros: I have no idea. At LEAST it powers on and gets recognized

Cons: I've tried this on two separate motherboards, it comes up in BIOS but will not be 'recognized when trying to install OS. What a PITA.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work

Pros: Was cheap. Newegg shipping was fast.

Cons: Didn't work. I may have had a bad unit but mine burned coasters right off the bat. The unit seems very flimsy and cheaply made.

Other Thoughts: There was a firmware upgrade available but unfortunately it did not help.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal on Sale

Pros: Cheap, free shipping and a great deal under $20. Did come with software that installed on Windows 7. Haven't burned much on it yet, but it reads most everything I've put in it.

Cons: The software is pretty bulky, but seriously who buys an OEM drive for the software. I guess I kind of did.

Other Thoughts: Half the reason I bought this was due to incompatible burning software when I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit. I couldn't even burn backup cd albums disc-to-disc. At the price it was worth tossing the old IDE DVD-R in another machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: Good drive, does what it was made for.

Cons: This drive does not burn cd's. Didn't notice that when I looked at the specs. My bad. How much more would have cost to include this feature.

4 out of 5 eggsBluebirds...You decide

Pros: As a system builder, I use these drives on a very regular basis on almost all of my new builds and have never seen any "bluebirds" in their firmware (Not denying that they exist). That being said, I will tell you that I have NEVER BOUGHT ANY of these from Newegg. These drives are decent enough drives for the money spent (mind you, they're no Plextor drive).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: You be the judge, is this an issue with strangely loaded units that Newegg purchased or some other unique phenomenon? Hmmmm.... I repeat, of all of the LG drives that I have installed (hundreds to be exact), I have never encountered any "bluebirds" in their f/w and have never had a problem removing any of their extraneously added program entries from the start up of any Windows box. As a matter of procedure, I routinely load their packaged software onto any system that gets one of these drives (if they don't have a good piece of burning software already installed).
