5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive

Pros: Inexpensive Blu-Ray reader

Cons: Does not have the option of using AC power

Other Thoughts: This is a nice little Blu-Ray reader with decent speed. Works great as a Blu-Ray reader on my Windows Home Server. I would like to have seen the option for using AC power as opposed to using the supplied USB "Y" adapter. Not enough to lose an egg over.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent little drive

Pros: Nice little unit. I have a man cave in my basement and have my PC set up inside a closet. I set up this BDVD outside the closet near the rest of my stereo gear. It's very small, svelte and nice looking in a HTPC setup, it's also very quiet.

Cons: USB cables are way too short. Should have had an external power adapter instead of making you waste 2 usb ports on it. Won't work with an external powered usb hub, you have to hook it directly to the PC, which means running another 2 lines all the way from my HTPC to my stereo area.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it! Love it! Love it!

Pros: Wonderful product! I have never had a problem with ASUS and this is yet another product that I am glad they make!

Cons: Not really any.

Other Thoughts: Just the USB cord is short, but that is the way it is with most of these drives.

4 out of 5 eggsFits the bill.

Pros: Small and compact. Decent speeds, no lag on my inspiron duo that didn't have a drive. Blu-ray looks and sounds great. Quiet.

Cons: the Usb power is nice, but having a external power option would free up the other port.
If this would have been USB 3.0 at the same price I would have given it 5 stars.

Other Thoughts: The stand is very sturdy. Its smaller than it seems from the pictures, you will be please with the look. Had they added external power option and or usb 3.0 at this price point I would have given it 5 stars.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent deal

Pros: Saw this item and went for it and with the $20 rebate it was really a bargain. Now I can play bluray discs on my laptops that don't have a bluray player and can bring it along on trips. I like the blue color and the player looks solid. So far no problems. Just waiting for my rebate.

Cons: I have an Asus eeepc1000h and it doesn't play bluray very well but I don't know if it will play better with the new CPUs.

Other Thoughts: Could be slimmer but oh well, it works

3 out of 5 eggsPros and cons

Pros: I've had no problem with the function of the device and I love the fact that it can be operated on its stand or on the surface.

Cons: The tray doesn't go out far enough so it can be a bit tricky to put discs into it. Also, ,y tray was slightly misaligned so you have to be careful when closing the tray.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great & Portable!!

Pros: Works great for ripping blu rays and playing if you own blu ray playback software (the software is not included with this drive).

It's also small enough that I can through it in my laptop bag and use it as a an everyday external drive which always comes in handy.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this so I could rip my blu ray movies to mkv files. It works great reading the disks and I've had no problems yet.

It does take up 2 usb ports since it doesn't have an external power source but I've actually had it run perfectly fine with only 1 plugged in.

4 out of 5 eggsJust kinda eh

Pros: Bought for use with Mac OS. Knew it would not play Blu-Ray movies direct from the drive under Mac OS, but could be used to copy movies to HD. Drive operated just fine.

Cons: Cheap plastic enclosure. Asus thinks it is stylish, but I suppose if you are comparing it to a 90's beige computer tower.

Other Thoughts: I thought this player might get me into blu-ray, but it wasn't happening, so I resold this and bought a lite-on portable DVD burner for 1/4 the cost. OK player if you are willing to pay a 4x premium just for blu-ray on your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsBlu-Ray player /sw

Pros: Looks really nice; I didn't yet buy it but I may, right away. I buy 99% of my tech gear from the one-and-only Newegg. (Sometimes I get the items the very next day, like WOW!)

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: Doesn't VLC play back Blu-Ray discs (and everything else)? I use VLC on my HTPC; it even plays the [naked] .ISO files. Sorry if I misunderstood.

2 out of 5 eggsBD Yes, Playback No

Pros: color, cost, all the reasons you are looking at it in the first place. It is a good company, with a rebate, that will work

Cons: NO PLAYBACK SOFTWARE. How can a company, which could purchase BD playback software at volume, not provide it with a BD combo. So the drive comes with all these fancy ways to make a BD look great. but no way to play it. annoying for sure.

Other Thoughts: if asus charged 5 dollars more, it would be able to play BD. the 149 BD on newegg has the playback software. but i can also burn BD. so I will have spent 120 after the software.
