1 out of 5 eggsnot to satisfied

Pros: it was "shiny and new"

Cons: I never had a chance to find ou if I lked the device, aa I sent it back next day. It had a strange e-sata type power connecter and required that i purchase special cables. I got tired of driving around town trying to find the "unusual" cables, and so i returend the device and found a used one for the same proce

1 out of 5 eggsDied within a week

Pros: Good price, that's about it. Ordered a mini sata cable. There should have been notice that it used mini-sata. I knew cables did not come with it, but did not know mini sata was the interface.

Cons: Died after a week. I didn't even use it!

1 out of 5 eggsDead already

Pros: Slim, cheap

Cons: Purchased when building my first mini atx PC, getting the cable was an expected irritation. But after hardly any use beyond the initial software installation, it just up and died.

5 out of 5 eggsPractical choice

Pros: Quiet and works as expected. Faceplate is solidly attached.

Cons: It's not a slot-loading mechanism.

Other Thoughts: OEM, so bring your own Slim SATA (power and sata combined) cable.

4 out of 5 eggsSlim DVD

Pros: Bought it as part of a Combo Deal. Small, DVD-R, SATA connection...

Cons: Mine dosent close quite correctly without help. Not sure if it is the way it is mounted in the case or if the screw may be a bit long. not much extra space inside for long screws so use cauation when installing.

Other Thoughts: My Mini ITX case came with the correct power cable but you may want to make sure you have the correct power cable for it...

5 out of 5 eggsworks!

Pros: it does everything it is supposed to

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: it clearly says OEM - as in bring your own mounting hardware (one or two screws will do)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for a micro ATX box

Pros: Fits great in the Shuttle X27D
Solid build
Fast

Cons: No cables but the Shuttle X27D comes with them, so plan accordingly.

Other Thoughts: This is priced lower than the most popular Sony slim drive. I didn't pay the Sony premium price and, so far, I'm pleased with my decision.

5 out of 5 eggsDo your research!

Pros: This is an OEM Drive. OEM drives do not come with accessories or software to save money if you don't need them.

Cons: Don't downrate something because you don't research what you need before purchasing. Pictures clearly show the drive as a bare drive with no accessories.

Other Thoughts: This is an OEM drive. OEM drives come as just a bare drive. This is the same for hard drives and desktop CD/DVD drives, so why would you expect this to come with extra stuff?

This is perfect for someone upgrading an existing SATA drive in a laptop or to put in a slim external case. Just be sure you need SATA as a lot of things still use IDE for the CD-ROM slot.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds a special cable.

Pros: 1. Looks nice. Can't use it yet though. See cons...
2. Packed safely, shipped rapidly.

Cons: 1. Should have explicitly said, this uses mini-SATA power connector.
2. Would have been nice if a converter were included.
3. Would have been nice if screws were included.

Other Thoughts: I just paid $3 shipping for a $4 cable so I can use this drive sometime next week. Grr.
