4 out of 5 eggswell-engineered with minor flaws

Pros: Overall the mouse is well put-together and feels like the kind of hardware you'd expect to get when paying $75-$100. The scroll wheel can switch between normal an ludicrous speed and will spin freely for a good 15 seconds with the brake disengaged. It comes with a 1900mAh rechargeable battery and can be charged from a usb port, so it's more environmentally friendly than most mice. The inclusion of a USB A/C adapter is a curious given that users are likely to have a free USB port for the few hours per month that the device needs charging, but it doesn't hurt anything.

The ergonomic design is good but not amazing. It's certainly an improvement over most mice.

It's not clear if this is by design or by coincidence, but the USB dongle is tiny enough to fit into the battery compartment quite nicely. The mouse isn't travel-sized, but it's at least easy to keep the dongle and mouse together without resorting to a rubber band. As someone with another wireless mouse that's useless due to a lost dongle, I appreciate this.

Cons: A couple of the buttons are bizarrely-placed. The foward/backward buttons on the side of the mouse are hard to hit when using the thumb rest for its intended purpose. The button at the bottom of the thumb rest seems like it'd be hard to use if I were on an OS that needed it. It's a moot point for me but windows and OS X users might care.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the expense

Pros: -Solid weight
-Comfortable design
-Works on a glass table with no pad
-Can recharge via cable to outlet or computer
-Battery level indicator lights
-on/off switch helps save batteries

Cons: -Price IS a bit high, but dark field is a niche technology at this point.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointment

Pros: comfortable, works on all surfaces, works in my bios

Cons: battery had a one month life span, logitech refused to warranty. It tends to double click when it shouldn't, apparently, this is common problem. It freezes sometimes and needs power cycled.

Other Thoughts: For $100, I expect perfection out of a mouse. Avoid this product.

5 out of 5 eggsDream mouse

Pros: Lightweight, ergonomic, soft rubber texture. Buttons produce relatively soft-click, while maintaining accuracy and sensitivity. Wheel is dual mode, for line-by-line scrolling or flywheel for free-scroll, both of which feel amazing. on-the-fly adjustable sensitivity for speed or precision - I use it for gaming, the wife uses it for video/photo editing.
The battery life is fantastic, and is USB powered - becoming a wired mouse during charge. No batteries to swap or lose. Even has a power switch for when you power down your pc, keeping the battery alive through cat attacks.
the Darkfield tech works incredibly, consistent, accurate, and responsive.

Cons: none to think of

Other Thoughts: Advertised alt-tab button for quick window swap - still working on configuring that particular button, but really a minor inconvenience more than anything else.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat while they last

Pros: Great Mouse, very comfortable to use, works on many surfaces. I will buy it again.

Cons: It you click a drag a lot eventually the left mouse button will start to bounce or not hold the click. This has happened on all 4 of the Logitech Performance MX mice I have owned. It usually starts after 2.5 years, but may start later. The warranty is 3 years. My personal one just failed 6 weeks after the end of the warranty.

I will purchase a new one, I just wish they would last longer.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Erconomics are great for me. Buttons are functional and easy to use.
Great range
Reliable
Is rechargable through USB cable, but can easily run off of AA battery.

Cons: It has gone down in price since I bought it, but it's still kind of expensive for a mouse.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse

Pros: 1. Rechargeable battery
2. Works on many surface
3. Comfortable on hand even on playing
4. Decent battery life like last for 4 days on me

Cons: This will not function well on unifying receiver like when you pair 2 units on one receiver it will disconnect time to time. The only solution is to move the receiver on front of you chassis case or use the extension and move the receiver closer to the unit (I am paring this with my k800 keyboard)

Other Thoughts: I would recommend to use one receiver on each logitech device even it support the unifying it is not worth it if you need to move the receiver in front of you. I hate clutter desk but if its fine for you then its ok

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for Work, OK for Games

Pros: The unlockable mouse wheel works great for scrolling through long documents with a single flick of the finger. You can re-program every button to any type of function or keystroke you want it to perform. The software is easy to use. The application switcher actually works rather well and makes navigating windows a little easier. Also the ergonomics of this mouse is great, and the large pads on the bottom make it glide with such little drag it is like a luxury vehicle for your hand. Also most mouses only come with 2 extra forward and backward buttons. This mouse has the extra 2 zoom, and application switch buttons which can be re-programmed and used for whatever you want while gaming. Keeps a charge for a long time, and is charged via USB cable that allows you to keep working while its charging.

Cons: While having up to 4 extra buttons is great for gaming, in reality the forward and backwards buttons don't consistently work in most games. However the zoom and application switch buttons always work (must be reprogrammed to a keystroke first), so you still have a few extra buttons to use with games, but I really got this mouse hoping to use all 4 extra buttons during games and you can't. Also you can't change DPI settings on the fly. There is a little light that says DPI, but it only shows the batteries charge and there is no way to change DPI setting without going through the software. The software is weak also. It just lacks the level of customization you would expect from a mouse with this price.

Other Thoughts: Not being able to use the forward and backward buttons in games is a real bummer, and having DPI led's on the front of the mouse with no way to change the DPI setting is a bit misleading. Still this is the best mouse I have ever used, and even bought 2, one for home and one for work.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Typical high-quality Logitech construction. I'm sure this thing would last a very long time.

Cons: Ergonomics of this are terrible for me. My hand is wide and beefy, and the way this right-handed mouse works for my right hand puts the weight on one spot on the right side of my wrist on the mouse pad. After only a few days' use, my wrist hurts. Terrible ergonomics for someone with a big hand.

Other Thoughts: I used the MX 3000 for like 5 or 6 years. It's been so long, I can't even remember. It's the perfect mouse. It started to go bad, so I got the next gen MX mouse. There's simply no comparison, and this new one is awful. The way my hand rests on the MX 3000, all the weight of my hand and arm rests on the heel of my hand, evenly from left to right. Very disappointing - I expected something better-designed from Logitech.

4 out of 5 eggslong battery life

Pros: long life
stays connected (for me anyway)
nice feel

Cons: if your gaming and move the mouse a little quicker then normal the scroll wheel develops a mind of it own, and your scoped in ready to snipe out some unsuspecting blade of grass. i cant think of a game were this is helpful, but this really isn't a gaming mouse.

Other Thoughts: looks big here on new egg, but oddly a little bit smaller than i thought. maybe not a con for most of you, but i like to rest my hand on the mouse rather then grab it.

over all i would buy this mouse again
