5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast and easy to setup with Time Warner. This modem actually works better and maintains the speed I pay for better than the leased modem it replaced.

Cons: I wanted to use this to replace my cable modem and home router, but dual band wifi is important because some of our devices don't use the 5GHz band. The built in router's antenna allows for main and guest wifi networks, but they all have to be on the same frequency, so I set my router back up.

Other Thoughts: This is a great modem and I would definitely recommend it. Time Warner detects the modem and directs you to a webpage where you can enter its MAC address, so the thing just works out of the box. I love that this modem maintains my 100Mbps connection with ease, where as the leased modem was always hit or miss and usually hit 60-80Mbps. This modem is great for most home setups.

1 out of 5 eggsFirmware is garbage, ruins product

Pros: Works well as a cable modem.

Cons: Wifi is extremely unreliable.

Other Thoughts: Yet another nice piece of hardware brought down by awful software. This device worked great for a month or two. Then my cable company pushed a firmware update, and wifi started dropping out every few minutes. Over a year later, it's still not fixed. Cox blames Motorola, Motorola blames Cox, and the consumer is left holding the bag.

I will never buy another all-in-one device. There's a single firmware for modem and wifi, and giving up control of my wifi firmware is obviously a terrible idea.

1 out of 5 eggsTwo units unable to connect at all. *Comcast

Pros: Wi-Fi signal was above average. +1 egg

Cons: Ordered two units for two different houses. Comcast was unable to connect to either of them even after a total of 7 hours of phone support and 30 minutes with an onsite Comcast tech (who was quite knowledgeable).

Comcast could "see" the devices (they told me the model, and that it is supposed to be a compatible device) but the units would not stay connected long enough for Comcast to initialize them. Just kept cycling through the connection process.

There is also the fact that the wireless does not support simultaneous dual band.

Other Thoughts: I've went against my gut a few times and it never works. I'll be sticking with Linksys from now on.

Not being able to flash firmware is a huge "no-no" to me. Give me the ability to fix it myself.

2 out of 5 eggsNever again.

Pros: Cable modem works.

Cons: Everything worked great for a month or two. Then Cox pushed a firmware update and wifi stopped working. I will never buy another all-in-one modem and router.

2 out of 5 eggsHas Problems

Pros: The cable modem part works.

Cons: I bought one locally when my 802.11n router went out. I first noticed the Wi-Fi range wasn't that great. Then I discovered my bad TV recordings from a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun 4 networked TV tuner started the day I installed this modem. The problem wasn't from interference but the gigabit ports. As soon as I connected everything with a Netgear gigabit switch and only used the modem as a gateway my LAN problems were gone. I read the review mentioning the IP Flood setting in the Firewall section was enabled and causing dropped packets, but mine was not enabled.

1 out of 5 eggsConnection drops

Pros: Initially after connection, the internet speed was great,

Cons: Everyday I am getting lot of connection drops and I had to reboot the modem/router. Not sure whether I got one of the bad pieces, but I would not recommend this.

2 out of 5 eggsFast modem but bad connectivity

Pros: Fast, 5 Ghz speed, DOCSIS 3.0

Cons: You have to bridge it in order to work, the concept of having both modem and router is brilliant but it gives poor router like features, in fact lacks those.
